I was so happy when I walked out of INCEPTION that I finally saw a movie that was worth the price of admission.First, this is not a go to the bathroom movie. It's a stay in your seat and pay attention the whole time movie. It's not that it's really hard to follow, as long as you're paying attention you'll follow along just fine. You probably already know the concept. Leo's Character (Cobb) runs a small group of people who are paid to enter the dreams of others and extract info from their brains, corporate espionage. Cobb has been unable to return to America and to his family because of a crime he was accused of years ago. His goal over the last couple of years is to find a way to return to his family in the states. Cobb meets very powerful Asian businessman who promises Cobb his kids and family back if he can perform whats thought to be an impossible quest, to IMPLANT an idea into one of the Asian business mans competitors, INCEPTION.if he can do it, he will be allowed to return to America and to his family. The Film is beautifully shot, and mixes the emotional journey Cobb is going through with the sci-fi well. I was really attached to the characters, and really was attached to Cobbs wife, that entire storyline I found to have the most impact overall.Ultimately this is a movie where if you hear someone give it one start, to never ever take their movie advice.the stakes are incredibly high, it's not save the world from aliens or computers high, more like save yourself from yourself high, save yourself from an eternity of a living nightmare, lost in your own mind, and all the emotional torture your mind can create.
An absorbing subject.Entering someone's mind and sharing his dreams, maybe curing him and killing his demons. How tempting! Although by nomeans completely uninteresting -it's thoroughly entertaining-"Inception" does not rise to the occasion. To be really successful ,itwould have needed a strong central character,an ambiguous one-I'mobviously speaking of the character, not the actor- ,it would haveneeded an elaborate screenplay .Instead of it ,all we get is dime storepsychoanalysis, simplistic dreamlike sequences, childish politics...The dreams are particularly poor.If you want to see great dreams (ornightmares) just pick up Bergman's "Wild strawberries " ,Hitchcock's"Spellbound" ,Polanski's "Rosemary's baby "or the entire Bunuel canon-Bunuel is second to none when it comes to direct dreams- This was atotal wipeout: not one minute amount, not a smattering, of anythingworth seeing. I usually like DeCrappio but he had nothing to work withon this flopperoo.
Overly long...could have easily had 30 minutes cut...and I would havegiven it a 7 at 2 hours of length. The first 90 minutes a bit slow inseveral parts (looking at my watch, shifting in my seat), but then itpicked up. Overall, I would characterize it as a slower version of "TheMatrix." The visual effects were stunning, the premise quite creative, the acting and direction excellent, and it likely employed enough CGIpeople to populate a small city. Some parts, however, were very hard to follow, esp. in the second half, although if you did pay attention you can get most of it. The absoluteadulation it's getting is--and an overall number 3 on Top 250IMDb.com--just inSANE! I think this is just a LOT of people wanting tobe seen as cool and hip. But really folks...I enjoyed "Toy Story 3"more. I must give the weightlessness special effect special mentionalong with a fight scene with shifting gravity. Nicely done...All-in-all, there are worse ways to spend 2.5 hours...listening to anObama speech, for example...See it soon if you want to be the first one on your block, but keepyour expectations within reason and you won't be terribly disappointed.
When I entered the cinema hall, I had my expectations set high. I hadalready seen the rating on IMDb and though the movie was at #86 when Ichecked it (it now stands at #3), I was expecting some kind of anadrenaline rush drama. What I met instead was a mindset so complex thatit left me stunned, amazed, shocked, terrified and thinking long afterthe movie was over. Christopher Nolan has created a masterpiece. I hadeven enjoyed the movie 2012 a lot, but what differs in Inception isthat it explores a possibility that has not really been exploredearlier in any genre of entertainment. The movie explores the infinite possibilities in which a man'ssubconscious state can be explored, exploited and in fact manipulated. The consequences can be grim but what's even more fascinating is thefact that such an idea can actually be translated in to a movie andthat the movie is believable. Leonardo Di Caprio's biggest hit sinceTitanic. His last movie Shutter Island was definitely a mind bender, but though Inception does not have any element of suspense - yet itmanages to leave the audience stunned thanks to the lovely inceptionthat was born in Christopher's mind 10 years back. The thought ofmanipulating dreams is presented in a manner that not just fascinatesyou but also terrifies you. A perfect balance between the good and thebad is presented in the movie.A must see and a must see again :)
I just saw this movie. These are the thoughts that ran through my headas I watched the movie (starting from the beginning of the movie). -I don't get it -still don't get it -ok, I think I get it now -yes, Idefinitely understand what is happening now I think... -hmmm, I don'tthink Ellen Page is right for this part -What is with all theexplosions? -I'm glad I brought my ear plugs -there is no gravity indream layers 1 and 2 but there is gravity in dream layers 3 and 4. Whatis with that? -how long is this movie??!! -these seats areuncomfortable! -the dude sitting beside me keeps touching me with hiselbow. I think he is hitting on me. -what time is it? -ohhhh! That olddude at the end of the movie is the same old dude as the beginning clever! -wait... is he still dreaming...? I don't get it any more. The reason why I wrote down my thoughts is as follows: I thoughtInception was a good movie. However, a great movie is one where youlose yourself in the film. You forget where you are and you are onlyconcerned with what is going to happen next. You actually forget thatyou are watching a movie. That didn't happen for me. That being said, I did like how the movie kept you guessing. There wasalso some ground breaking effects. I think that maybe it was a littletoo long and there was a little too much action for my liking. I would recommend seeing this movie. However, maybe wait until it is onDVD.
Every year, Hollywood shells out products that serve no other purpose than to bore audiences into a state of stupidity. This has been a problem for years, since the birth of the blockbuster. In the late sixties and early seventies, mainstream audiences frequently enjoyed intellectually stimulating films, such as MIDNIGHT COWBOY, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, and TAXI DRIVER. That was until STAR WARS was unleashed upon the world, and everyone threw their brains out the window and settled for pure spectacle. Not much has changed. Audiences still crave style over substance. If you don't believe me, check out the box office results for AVATAR, and then get back to me. A Hollywood film with a brain is a rare thing these days. But every now and again, I have to insert my foot into my mouth. INCEPTION is one of the most intelligent, completely involving mainstream films since THE MATRIX took the world by storm in 1999. INCEPTION will blow you away. I've already seen this film twice, and I will see it again. Where to begin. INCEPTION is one of those extraordinary films that is inherently hard to describe, yet easy to comprehend whilst you are in the theatre experiencing it firsthand. It deals with one of my favorite subjects: dreams. We not only deal with dreams, but dreams within dreams within dreams. With all of the complex layering going on, it could be easy to lose yourself - which is why I'm going to give you the most simple synopsis that I can muster in this review. It will be short, sweet, and to the point. The film deals with a man named Dom Cobb, an experienced thief who utilizes the best of modern technology to enter the subconscious dreamworlds of others, and steal their most precious secrets and ideas. This process is known as "extraction". Because of this, Cobb is one of the most sought after fugitives in the business. When his latest assignment goes awry, he is offered a chance to redeem himself by pulling off a seemingly impossible "inception" - a process by which an idea is planted into an individuals mind. In order to do this, Cobb must put together a team of experts and race against the clock in order to successfully execute the mission. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Much more goes on within the two and a half hour running time. To say anything else would only spoil the film for you, and rob you of the pure rush that comes from watching such cinematic genius. Christopher Nolan is at the top of his game here. His direction is flawless, and his confidence in his cast and crew is visible on screen. This is his best film since MEMENTO, and it's just as puzzling. Yes, there are special effects in this film, but they do not take precedence over the story or performances. They are merely a part of the world that Christopher Nolan has so expertly crafted. After seeing INCEPTION, I have officially forgiven Nolan for those overrated Batman films. The performances from the entire cast are amazing. Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, and Marion Cotillard shine. Everyone else is just as good. There is even a cameo from Michael Caine, as well. Hans Zimmer's score may as well be counted as another character in the film, as it is that powerful. It's one of those scores that audiences will recognize whenever they hear it play for years to come. INCEPTION is a gift. Do yourself a favor and see it as soon as possible.
This was the first movie in years that had strangers buzzing about whatwe all saw in the men's room after it ended. That leads me to concludethat the film, while not short at around 150 minutes, was compellingenough that nobody took a break during the viewing. There's was a lotto talk about on the drive home, and I see the IMDb board is buzzingwith speculation on what happened, particularly the ending. You couldprobably watch Inception half a dozen times sussing out the fictionaltechnology that was at its heart, the hidden meanings in some of thedialog, the multiple layers upon layers in which the plot took place. My take was less concerned with the details. I went into this viewingexpecting an inspired film experience created by a modern master. And Iwasn't disappointed. I found the cinematography on par with (and nodoubt inspired by) Hitchcock's classics like North by Northwest andVertigo. It should win an Oscar in that category. The score wasfantastic. The actors were clearly enjoying themselves. This was asummer Hollywood blockbuster of the finest quality.
Let me start off by saying, THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!! if youhave not seen it, it is a must see. This is the movie of the yearalready. the story is very powerful in emotion and the way it is told,it requires ones full attention to understand and enjoy. If you missout on small details, even the minor ones, you will be lost towards theend. the cast of this amazing movie involves one of my personal favactors, Leonardo Dicpario, who is just incredible in this movie, hereally gets into his role and does it with great care, he doesn't doanything cliché, what he does here is original. Ellen Page is also hereand she is fantastic here as the architect who helps Leo and his team.Joseph Gordan Levitt is also amazing, i would rank him second toLeonardo, the two of them make a great team. I will not say too much ofthe plot because it is something that must be seen to believe, but iwill say that it is definitely something that will be talked about foryears to come, its a must see and i highly recommend it!!!!!!!
Great acting and effects through this thriller. You have to really pay attention to understand it and thats what I appreciate about it. Hope they make more like this in the near future.
My wife and I just watched inception. I am 42 and a scientist. We arrived at 8:05 for an 8:20 show and got great seats. Endured 40 min of trailers. We needed to go see this, because everyone told us how great it was. "This movie made you think". "captivating!" they said. "Your lost for the first 20 min but then it all makes sense."Now here is my review. The movie is way too long and they keep you lost for way too long. Once I got it, I didn't get what all the excitement was all about. I was really getting bored waiting for the movie to bring me in. I love sci-fi and wanted so badly to love this movie, but in the end I couldn't. Ok a dream in a dream and planting ideas in someone's head to make them think it's their own idea. I think the story line makes for a great book but hard to put on film. The only real inception was everyone planting the idea that this movie was going to blow my mind. Even after I left, I tried to believe that the movie did such a good job of blowing my mind that I didn't even know it, but sadly I woke up. It's just not that good.
Watching this movie was a complete waste of time. Afther watching, yourealize that screenplay has (too)many faults, that directing is on highschool level, and that actors are pathetic, just like director. Ireally don't see the reason why this movie did get such good reviews.Nolan took parts from movies like; The Cell, The Matrix, Oceans Eleven,James Bond, and the final product is a bunch of nonsense. I personallydon't like Nolan's films, but with this one he's gone really too far.He got lost when he was filming, you can tell it from the beginning ofthe movie. It's a type of film for American audience. I hope it willfail in Europe.
My high expectations of this movie based on its no. 3 position in theTop 250 lasted for about 2 seconds into the movie. What a disgrace! Andso childish. And Tiring! How can it be that everyone likes this movie. It's absolutely overloaded with bizarre and completely arbitrary turnsof plot that have to be explained for about 75% of the movie. Nocharacter! No excitement, I could not even tell who were the bad guys. And yet again a few seconds of Michael Caine to camouflage the completecardboard appearance of the entire cast! What is the meaning of thismovie? What is it about? Uhhh???? Its internal logic is utter bullshit. Its emotional significance is zero, empty, frightening. Can please somebody agree with me, I feel so sad.Kurosawa come alive!
It's refreshing to see something at the movies these days that'soriginal, for a start. It all seems to be remakes, sequels, andgenerally ideas that have been done before with a couple of aspectschanged to make them supposedly 'original'. This isn't the most amazing film I've ever seen, doesn't move to thetop of my all-time favourites list, it can certainly be faulted but atthe same time I can't deny it was interesting, well written, decentlyacted and tells a pretty good, definitely original story. The last houror so of the movie was brilliantly done in my opinion and while it gota tad predictable right towards the end it was definitely entertaining. I feel that it sometimes got lost in itself trying to be toomulti-layered, it was always going to be a fairly in-depth story but Ifelt certain aspects it could have done without or maybe done a bitdifferently and it still would've been just as good. I felt it jumpedaround a bit too much at times. It didn't change my life or make me question my own reality or anythinglike that, maybe that's just me but I was certainly entertained and onthe edge of my seat for two and a half hours by an original story andsome great, smartly done action scenes and for that, I think it wasmoney well spent going to see this film.
I first saw this at the theater it had a lot of hype and Oscar buzz.Leonardo DiCaprio plays Cobb who hiding out Because he's been blamedfor his wife's death really she killed herself thinking she was in adream. Mainly the movie is about the power of dreams such things areshown and brought up like a dream within a dream Trinkets that the maincharacters have to prove if they are in a dream Cobb has a top thatkeeps spinning if he's in a dream Arthur (Joseph Gordon Levitt) has diethat lands on same number if he's in a dream if someone die's in adream they go into a deep sleep for years. The main plot is Cobb tryingto prove his Innocents with help of a girl named Ariadne who the newestmember of this team she learns how to manipulate dreams this makes forsome surreal scenes she and Cobb build a model maze in real life thenbuild a giant one in there dream. There is so many odd things in thismovie but you have to think about it in the final story-line CobbAriadne and the gang go into Robert Fishers (Cillian Murphy's) dream ona plane to America to finally clear Cobb's name and put an end to hisguilt. This is A lot like Science of sleep and even similar toNightmare on Elm street on how those movie are about the power ofdreams.I give it an 8/10
I truly cannot see another film overtaking Inception this year. TheAcademy should get this in their memory banks now. Although how can oneforget the mastery of this film? The Academy has shown that it will notaward the top honors to films in certain categories very often.Inception is in several of those categories. It is a blockbuster, it isin both the sci-fi and action genres, it is a summer release, and it isfilled with special effects. Well, the Academy needs to throw out thebook with this one.Christopher Nolan has managed to do something nearly impossible infilm-making. He has taken a trippy, sci-fi concept, backed it up withincredible special effects, and applied a brilliantly crafted story toit. Then he directed a critically acclaimed cast through the story. Theproduct is nothing short of legendary. These elements have never co-existed in a film so flawlessly. Even if awriter can come up with a story that makes us care about an implausibleplot, it is nearly impossible to convey that on film. Nolan makes usbelieve, and he makes us feel normal believing something sofar-fetched. Many before have tried, but nobody has succeeded likeNolan has with Inception.
Being a big fan of "mindbased" scifi and having seen on all the hype about this movie I was quite keen to see this movie. Let me clear one things first, the special effects are impressive and if that is important to the viewer they wont be disappointed. If however you like a good story line, complex characters, good acting and want to leave the theater having had your boundaries challenged this will be a let down. Leonardo di Caprio as usual delivers a solid performance but that is about what can be said about the acting. Michael Caines role is so minute that it seems he was mainly included for his 'movie poster value' and most of the others left no impression at all. Particularly Ellen Page disappoints playing the young 'super student' recommended to the project by father in law Caine. She lends no depth to her character and looks mostly like a 16 year old high school student totally misplaced in the plot.. and her character is outright damaging for the overall impression of the movie. Whether it is her character that lacks substance or it is Page who fails on delivering the intended complexity is uncertain but the end result is very damaging for the movie. In general the movie lacks characters and while the overall 'headline' plot is interesting the subplots do not fail to deliver.. they are simply not there. The action scenes are professionally done but as pointed out by others they leave the viewer shrugging their shoulders as the 'villains' are really not relevant to the plot as they are mere projections and seem to drop dead 10 to each bullet while being unable to even hit the target even when outnumbering the hero's 20 to 1. The idea of mankind at some point being able to enter people's mind through their dreams is both intriguing and likely to one day be possible and as such is a good premise for a story. The message to us all to live our lives and not 'get too preoccupied' in our most unrealistic of dreams also makes sense but that's it. It could have gone so much further but it does not. Personally it does not come close to the depth of Vanilla Sky which I found thought provoking even having to endure Tom Cruise for close to hours. Not wanting to give away any of the plot considering there is so little of it (!) I encourage only those who are into scifi and action movies for 'technical reasons' loving good stunts, special effects and action for actions sake... if you are looking for a deep story line, complex characters, good actors and something that stimulates just a bit of thought this is not the movie to visit.
The Not-Too-Revealing-Summary: Inception is a thought-provoking actionmovie that is best tagged with keywords like "con-men," "corporateespionage," "psychological thriller" or even "philosophy."The-Not-Too-Revealing-Review: Inception takes a very simple - and verytraditional - genre and fashions it around a complicated idea. Themovie is truly a work of art - in a positive sense as much as in apejorative sense. Director Christopher Nolan takes a fairly complicatednotion and unravels it for the audience in such a way as to entertainvisually and provoke thoughtfully. The movie was, however, art forart's sake. It was a demonstration: the goal was not to amaze, thrill,or surprise but to bewilder. It was a presentation of a mental knot andthen the step-by-step exhibition of how one would disentangle it. Inthis regard the movie was a success. Some of my many grievances (andthey were many) against the film: The action scenes were quiteobviously padding for the core of the film. Most of the scenes wereshot in indoor, extremely confined situations - and though stylish -they were not the strikingly visual scenes I had hoped for. The big, outdoor, scenes where this big budget film had a chance to trulyimpress failed completely. The fight scenes where the movie had theopportunity to provide some iconic segment - looked like men hoisted inthe air with wires. Between two of Nolan's other works - Memento andthe Dark Knight - Inception was more Memento. The attention to detailpresent in the Dark Knight made it into Inception - but only into theunraveling of Nolan's idea. The many filler scenes lacked thisconsideration and left the film with a duality of wonderfullythought-through details interspersed with inanity. Some other odds and ends: Tip of the hat to Nolan for leaving somethings unexplained. It is unclear if this is truly present day or sometime in the future and the director rightly leaves that for theaudience to decide for themselves. Explanations for the mechanisms ofthe technology are left alone - and for the better. I could not havetold you who Tom Hardy was before this film but after this performanceI look forward to whatever it is he may do next. I hope Nolan credits acertain 1999 film (whose title I shall not mention so I do not spoilthis movie for anyone else). The relationship goes far beyondsimilarity or inspiration. Nolan took it further (with a budget of over$130 million more) but it is bothersome to see Inception heralded for"originality." Overall I cannot recommend this film. It was neitherenjoyable nor entertaining to watch. I can respect the skill it takesfor someone to make a house of cards but in the end I have no realdesire to stare at a house of cards.
Going into a movie with high expectations can set the viewer up fordisappointment (I know because I've been let down many times.)Christopher NolanÂthe master responsible for such greats as Memento,Batman Begins, The Prestige, and The Dark KnightÂhas been the mostreliably excellent filmmaker of the past decade; he has never failed todeliver. He continues his winning streak with the remarkable Inception. The movie is so packed with detail and has so many layers that upon theaudience's first viewing, they just go along for the ride and try tokeep up with it. The story follows Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), anextractor who tries to steal information from other people's dreams. There to assist him in his escapades is Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt.)They are hired by an influential businessman named Saito (Ken Watanabe)to infiltrate a rival's (Cillian Murphy) dreams not to steal an idea, but rather to plant one. This is called inception. Stealing informationfrom dreams is difficult; planting an idea is even more so. Cobb andArthur are hesitant to accept the job. However, Cobb wants to do it sothat he can quit the business for good and get back home and see hiskids, whom he hasn't seen for a long time. He assembles a team to helphim. They include an architect (Ellen Page), who creates thedreamscapes; a forger (Tom Hardy), who can imitate other people withinthe dreams; and a chemist (Dileep Rao), who concocts the complexchemical cocktails used to induce the necessary states of dreaming. Tofool the dreamer, sometimes Cobb and his team construct dreams withindreams. To accomplish inception, they need to create a dream within adream within a dream. If that sounds complicated, there is one morelayer still: limbo. This is a dangerous world of raw subconsciousnessfrom which it is very difficult to return. There are other difficultiesto overcome besides navigating dreamers' minds. If projections of thedreamer's subconscious start to detect an intrusion, they attack likewhite blood cells. The probability of this goes up if the dreamer hasbeen trained to guard themselves by an extractor. In addition, Dom'sefforts are sometimes foiled by projections of his wife (MarionCotillard.) He and his team also have to use "kicks," which are promptsto wake them up at just the right moment. In the waking world, he andhis team are on the run from both the law and former marks and clients. As expected, much of the movie takes place in dreams. Inception'svisual style matches its lofty creative ambitions. The marriage of artdirection and special effects is seamless; it's hard to tell where onebegins and the other ends. This sometimes makes it difficult to discerndreams from reality, and this is almost certainly done by design. Inthe dream sequences, there are some extraordinary images, such asentire cities folding over on themselves, zero-gravity scenes in ahotel hallway, and paradoxical shapes, like infinite staircases. In aseason of light-hearted popcorn flicks that are forgotten shortly afterone has left the theater, Inception is a rare treat indeedÂabrain-teaser that demands the audience rise to its level, rather thaninsulting the viewer's intelligence by stooping too low. The dreamsChristopher Nolan creates and puts up on screen are worlds of pureimagination where anything seems possible, yet they have their ownsense of order; they have limits and laws of existence. This film setsviewers' minds in motion like spinning tops, sending them out of thetheater reeling and ready to come back again for a repeat viewing. http://raisedonvideo.wordpress.com
Christopher Nolan returns to the genre that brought him criticalacclaim with the release of his new film "Inception". This time, delving through the subconscious and tapping into our dreams. Nolan'searlier films have been about the complexity of the human nature andhow every one of us sometimes confuses fantasy over reality. No otherfilmmaker knows the subject well and presents it in moving pictureswith such depth and artistry as much as he does. All the actors involved were excellent with the exception of Ellen Pagewho looked too young to play Ariadne, a university student with anunusual talent in creating and solving puzzles/mazes. Don't get mewrong, I've seen "Juno" twice and she did a great job playing thepregnant teenager. I think she just wasn't suited for the role. I'veread an article that Nolan's first choice to play the part was EvanRachel Wood, but she turned it down. (Must be busy frolicking in thecemetery with her anti-Christ boyfriend or should I say fiancé, MarilynManson!) She could have nailed that role easily with her actingprowess. Leonardo DiCaprio was Nolan's only choice to play the role ofCobb, a person who specializes in extracting ideas by invading yoursubconscious which could yield massive fortunes when usedintelligently. DiCaprio played his part well, as always but I have tosay that Joseph Gordon-Levitt who played "Arthur" whose job is toresearch the team's target, steals every scene they share together. Hisacting was quite remarkable and worthy to be lauded. I'm not sure ifNolan was convinced to offer the part to him after watching hisbrilliant performance in The Lookout. He definitely made the rightdecision in casting him."Inception" is the kind of film that will keep you thinking even afterleaving the movie theater. It's a fast paced, edge-of-your-seat andwell-crafted thriller that doesn't disappoint. A mind blowing, grandiose but cleverly original piece of art that actually deliversmore than the hype! Most people would say that Christopher Nolancreated a masterpiece with his box-office hit "The Dark Knight". In myopinion, people back then were just curious about Heath Ledger'scharacterization of the "Joker" and have to pay homage to his lastfull-length film. No doubt, it was the best movie of 2008 and couldhave easily won Best Picture in the Academy Awards if it wasn't too"mainstream"! I guess you can't measure the quality of a film based onhow much money it made in the box office and what kind of reception ithad from critics and movie-goers. Inception is Christopher Nolan'smagnum opus, serving as both its writer and director. I don't usuallygive out spoilers and don't consider myself an expert in writing amovie review. I'm just a film buff that loves to share stories withpeople who have excellent taste in films. To conclude this briefarticle, let me recommend to anyone reading this that "Inception" is anenjoyable film to watch not because of its flamboyant special effectsand great performances but also because of its subject matter. Theoverall plot may seem confusing and complex but it only adds to itsuniqueness. It's one of those films that you have to watch twice oreven a dozen times to get that "Eureka" experience!
This review is from: Inception (Two-Disc Edition) [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) I love the movie; as a movie: 5 stars. The disk: plain sucks. Just like Avatar, these new Blu-ray disks are not compatible with all Blu-ray players. I have a Vizeo VBR231 Player, and this movie when played skips forward all over the place. It must have jumped forward about 8 times during playback. I have to rewind it back in order to see the parts it skipped; which, sometimes is 20-30 mins forward.I know they do this crap for copy-protection; but making it incompatible with my Blu-ray player is not helping their cause! It only makes me want to go buy a pirated version that works! Before you comment: There is no update for the VBR231, so no update exists that will fix this problem. Perhaps they will release one, perhaps not. Regardless, currently it is really annoying to watch this fantastic movie now and be forced to rewind backwards all the time. Keep this in mind when purchasing if you have a Vizeo VBR231 player. I cannot speak for other Blu-rays. And yes, my comment will be negative even if it is just my type of Blu-ray player. It doesn't make it right that it works fine on some and like crap on others.
