WOW!

Well, what can I say! Not to be racial, but there still aren't enough of white folk coming to these movies - And I ARE one and I'm not afraid to say that they're a bunch of idiots!. Sorry to say it, but they're missing out on a real good thing by this guy. I just love his stuff. Where can you go to see a decent movie (and I mean decent), hear some great music, a little bit of church and some comedy all in one night? Was it a musical? Was it a movie with a solid message? Was it entertaining? This flick had it all.

Not like the play

I didn't buy this DVD, but I had a chance to see it. To me the play is much better, like of of Tyler Perry's movies.

Absolutely awesome!

I really don't know what to say about Tyler Perry doing it AGAIN! BUT...HE did it again...Great storyline and actors throughout.Whew! Power is what I have to call the main character. She was AWESOME! That woman played the hell out of that part! Every emotion known to man and woman was portrayed in this movie by this character. Absolutely awesome! You need to be sitting down to fully enjoy and receive the messages here.It deals with sexual abuse, abusive men, race issues, sisterhood, female-male love/adultery relationship issues, the mourning of death issues and the list goes on. It is so powerful, it even allows laughter to sneek in during all of the drama! This would be a terrible movie to miss out on seeing at least once.

Wonderful Movie!

I absolutely loved this movie! One of Tyler's greatest works! You will shed some tears. The church scene is fabulous. Go see this movie twice if you can.

Not for everyone but a blessing for many

I've watched this movie three times, loving it all the way, laughing out loud and crying at least twice each time. When a movie does that to a person it's a keeper. I guess one would need to have a heart to appreciate it. Redemption comes to mind. Awesome music. Moving. Hilarious. Heart wrenching. Intense acting by many. The only problem I had with the movie was the ending song by Mary J Blige. Not appropriate for the scene.

Lasting Impression

i was surprised ....

So i love Tyler films and plays for the most part... i think theybecome a little redundant but as far as overall entertainment i reallyenjoy the films/plays ... Now I can not say that I can completelyrelate to all of the characters in all of his plays one because i amnot black and two the types of situations some of these roles play areas Madea says " Oh Hell no" situations. However I can say for the mostpart his plays and movies are very thought provoking and inspiringbecause there is a very clear overall message of either hope ,resilience, perseverance etc. And it becomes relate able because youpretty much live the struggle that the main character is going throughand you are also normally given enough back story and sometimes toomuch back story for you to connect. So this movie to me didn't reallyinspire me or provoke anything but shock... Yes Mary j was off thechain, the character itself to me was pointless. The role either couldhave been expanded or cut out... The sexy man Latino that should havebeen my husband, made sense as a character but to me became toooverindulgent in the kids life with not enough back story to reallyexplain why he was in states and taking to these kids etc ... The kids, OK seriously yes the girl was a great actress but can we get a littlemore back story then mom's dead and the only living relative is adrunk... and does anyone notice the obsession of Tyler perry w/ abuseand hot men ? ... Yes it is a fact that there is a higher percentage ofabuse , rape, and silence in homes of people of color ( and i mean allpeople of color no just black people) and because of that i do think itshould be exposed for awareness but in every movie really ... I am notgoing to write and write and write anymore but i will say this allcharacters need more substance and not a reveal of something thathappened in childhood i e aunt , kids , Latino all plots need to bebetter intermingled i e reasoning for why you are there ... how does agrand mother go missing for days and no thinks to look for her and nottoo concerned ... why is the Colombian in the country besides to helpthese kids ...i dunno i was just so surprised

Definitely Tyler Perry's Best Yet

In my opinion, this is Tyler Perry's best movie yet. I laughed, I cried, I got angry, just went thru all of the emotions - lol! It was so good. This movie had a lot of substance as well as a good resolve. I highly recommend it!

Great Great Movie

I'm not sure what movie Jhoogland went to see, but it is obvious hiscomment has nothing to do with Tyler Perry's movie-so I'm not reallysure why 14 people found a comment that had nothing to do with themovie useful. Having said that-This movie "I can do bad all by myself"was a true tear jerker. He really put his foot in it this time and ohmy what a great work. As an adopted child-this movie recommitted me tothe work that needs to be done in the foster care and adoptioncommunities. If you don't know anything about this experience-eitheryou will open your eyes to it or close your mind to the hurting in ourcommunity- or better yet in our own families. Furthermore-I can almostguarantee that most of the ratings had nothing to do with the movie ormuch less have seen the movie.

Taraji needs a OSCAR!!!! BRAVO Tyler P....

I loved this movie so much! It moved me to tears and cheers so many times even a little praising!!! I love Tyler P and I support all his films BUT this one is by far the BEST!!!! He made no wrong moves in this film, the music was so inspiring and the people around me were are seemingly moved like me...The song by Gladys then Mary with the theme song and the Marvin Wianans with his moving song in Church wow...The songs tied it with the movie perfectly!! Bravo Mr. Perry!!!

Mr. Perry stick to plays please

So, I rated this movie a 1, which is awful. Actually it was beyondawful. It was more like a horribly sickening attempt of portrayingsomething so real to others yet being so fake! Anyways, it was a pushfor me to watch this movie. I watched this movie online because therewas no way I was spending my money to see this in theaters. In fact Iwill not spend my money to watch any of Tyler Perry's movies intheaters because they are simply just horrifically atrocious.From the beginning to the end this movie was predictable! With all duerespect to Mr. Perry other works I believe this is the worst one yet.He recycles the same script over and over and over again. The man islike a crack addict stuck in one spot with any crack! But what gets methe most is not that it is the same script it is that people watch themovie and praise the man! I am dumbfounded really I am.Mr. Perry wants to reach out to people, and oh so open up there eyes tothe society in which they live. Well, Mr. Perry life is not a fairytale but your movies are. In this movie I can do bad all by myself,Santiago was so caring about Jennifer and her kids. Well, Mr. Perry youdo not find that in the ghetto. What you find is every man forthemselves everyone trying to get out of the ghetto and ain't nobodywanna help nobody. And that's real! And why all Mr. Perry movies has tobe some kind of love story, and someone cheating on somebody, somebodygetting hit, abused... Oh I know! It is the same recycled script. Imean you did even see April and Santiago much deep conversation exceptfor when her mother died he comforted her and he loved her so deeply itwas as if they were together for years. Two very attractive actors butthere was absolutely no chemistry between these two.. And oh Mr. Perrywould not be able to sleep if he did not add a wedding scene.I commend Taranji Henderson. I believe she did a very good job with thescript she was given.Mr. Perry you should have just stopped with Diary of a Mad Black Womanand stick to play writing..PS: This movie was absolutely nothing like the play the only thing Ilike about this movie was the song I can do back all by myself. Andthat's another thing, why everybody has to sing in all your movies likeit is musical??

loved it

love all tyler perry's movies -- and that's really saying something, because i really don't like movies at all. they can't keep my attention for the most part. but i have watched all of tyler perry's movies, and even the dvd's of the live plays... all of them are exceptional. they all have sensitive subjects, good advice, and you can always get something out of it to take with you. it doesnt feel like you've just wasted 1-2 hours of your life.

Great movie...!

First off the movie was one of Tyler Perry's best movies ever... thismovie is packed full of life lessons and real situations and a perfectmix of comedy. Many people go to see Tyler Perry movies because it hasa lesson that all of us can relate to, it builds on certain problems weall face or have faced in our lives. Madea's Characters are alwaysawesome and he plays every part perfectly, but I do not believe theonly reason people go to watch a Tyler Perry movies is to see Madea'sin your face, ballsy, I'm always right attitude. It is naive to go tothe movie believing you will only see the Madea character in all itsglory. There is always a dependable mix of Church and life lessons tohelp those who pay attention to the message out of trials andtribulations everyday people face. Now I do not attend church, but heblends church and comedy well giving you just enough dose of each tokeep you honestly entertained. I have never had a dull moment watchingany of his movies especially this one. The subject matter is seriousand personal to a lot of people and if you listen to the message it canhelp, at several points in the movie chills ran down my back at thebrutal reality. Also Mary J. Blidge was a perfect quest for this movie,awesome choice. Thank you for this movie and I definitely recommendwatching this movie and learning from the lesson. Overall great movie!
