Great!

This show has been more or less consistent since it first aired. It hasgood writing, a good cast with good chemistry, and they know how tokeep things fresh and when a joke has been overdone. NPH is amazing inthe show, but the other members have enough moments so that he doesn'tstand out as a singularity for the quality of the show. It has been going a bit downhill this season, but the way the latestepisodes are playing out I'm confident there will be more great ones tocome. The show has set up quite a legacy for itself, and I look forward toseeing what they come up with in the future.

ithasbeenthebestsitcomever.com!!!

Love the sense and quality of the show, and I have "Ted Mosby-ed" ("Ithink I'm in love with you.") this show since the first few episodes ofseason 1. I have watched the episodes (seasons 1-4) more than twice(honestly) and even the five-year old jokes still keep me laughing outloud.Even the websites in which the characters have mentioned in the showare quite awesome; Barney's blog/twitter, tedmosbyisajerk.com,guyforceshiswifetodressinagarbagebagforthenextthreeyears.com, etc. - hehe he.I, for one, am glad to have met this show! Now on season 5 and stillrocking! Season 6 (and more) - keep it (them) coming! To those who saidthey didn't love the show, I guess I'll have to 'Lemon Law' you! Go forBarney!

Funniest Show Ever (for me)

I don't have much time for TV, so I've been watching Seasons 1-3 onDVD.For me, this is the funniest show I've ever seen. It has the rightbalance of laughter, wit, and... I don't know.. that "togetherness"feeling. You really feel for all the characters.I relate to this show more so than Friends, Seinfeld, and the CosbyShow because I went to college in 1996, and I completely understand allof their references... not because I can connect the dots, but becauseI actually experienced that time of the year. The writers and actors doan excellent job at portraying the dynamics of the friendships, andwhat it must be like to grow up as the Saturday morning cartoon kid.Friends, Seinfeld, and Cosby were great shows, but I didn't have thesame connection with those shows as I did with this one... not evenclose. Seinfeld was a bit too vaudeville for me, and Friends was justtoo unbelievable - it had too many unnecessary jokes and just didn'thave the right balance or the proper wit. Cosby and Fresh Prince weregreat, but I often find them trying to push too many social messageswithout doing a good job at integrating them into the storyline. Butthis, this show hits it right on most of the time. All of thecharacters are well written and developed. Ted and Robin, Lily andMarshall, and Barny... oh Barny... "Damn It's Good To Be A Banker". Ihope they keep the story and the dynamics going without getting toocrazy as most sitcoms usually fall victim to as they get into their5th-8th season.Favorite Episodes: Slap Bet and Stuff. Favorite "wait for it" moments:Barney's crappy play, Ted's first kiss with Robin, Robin's first I loveyou, Lily's and Marshall's winter wonderland, and so much more.

The New "Friends"

This is a great show. It has the same freshness and funny quirkinessthat "Friends" had when it first started. The writing on this show isexcellent and they have managed to keep qualify level up for almostevery episode. You don't get the same "generic sitcom" crap that youfind so often. This show is smart and funny and the characters arereally likable. As with "Friends" you wish this was your circle offriends. As for the cast, Josh Radnor is fine as the "lead" but the truestrength of "How I Met Your Mother" comes from the supporting case.Veterans Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris get all of the bestlines and they make the most of them. Buffy and Doogie fans will not bedisappointed. Likewise, new-comers Jason Segel and Cobie Smuldersreally complete the show and elevate the show from "ok" to "excellent."Next to "Prison Break" this is my favorite new show of this season.

My favorite show on TV behind only Seinfeld.

What can I say about this show? The cast is awesome. The writers rock. The show is great. My favorite character is Barney. He is probably themain person I watch the show for. He is funny and brings a certain"something' to TV that it needs. It is totally the best new comedy inawhile. While it does have a laugh track - it isn't needed. Bob Saggetis right at home on this show playing the Dad. I think it is veryfitting for him to be playing that role. The rest of the cast is greatalso. The guy who plays Ted is great at being the 'every day' guy andMarshall and his soon to be wife, Lilly are perfect together. As forRobin, well she is Robin and there is nothing wrong with her. I thinkeveryone on this show including the regular cab driver are great. Thisshow has everything and I hope everyone gives it a chance. I love it.It is legendary. Till next week Barney.

Foolish negative reviewers

I mainly wanted to write a review on here defending the show againstall of the terribly stupid negative reviewers, but then I realized allof the really bad reviews were from 2005/2006. And now I am just amusedby how misguided and just plain blind these people were about thisshow. How I met Your Mother is one of the best quality sitcoms I have everseen. Every storyline involving these perfectly cast actors ishilarious and endearing. Honestly, some of the romantic plot lines inthis show put most of the romantic comedies that come out in theaters,TO SHAME. One gentlemen compared this show to the likes of Night Courtand Three's Company, saying that this show didn't have the spark thatmade those great. Well I grew up with those shows and while lookingback on them may provide fond memories, watching them nowadays you cansee how painfully shallow those shows were. This show does much more toget one involved in the relationships of the characters, through goodtimes and bad times, it's not a one off show where everything getswrapped up and is forgotten about from episode to episode. Nostalgiagoggles people, take them off before you speak.A lot of the bad reviews on here predicted that this show would becanceled almost immediately, but it's been 4 years and counting andJason Segal is now a highly famous and successful comic actor infeature films, and Niel Patric Harris is enjoying cult popularity withthe hit Joss Whedon musical Dr. Horrible. So eat your crow past reviewers. People say that sense of humor may bea subjective thing, but not enjoying a quality show like this callsthat into question.

Shocked by any bad reviews

OK, so my friend introduced me to this show a while back ago, and, though it was funny, I was not impressed with it. Just another boringsitcom that tries to be funny, and.... I never tried watching it.Wrong! I began watching it lately, for real this time, and all I cansay is: LEGEN-DARY. This show is amazing! It's one of the funniestshows ever and I just love how all the characters click together andjust work. I couldn't believe that people actually didn't like thisshow. I know everyone has different opinions, but, I don't know, butthis show rocks! I love it! And I am glad to say this is one of theonly T.V. shows that I actually watch nowadays, and more importantly, enjoy.

I don't get it...

When i first heard of this show i was like "hmm, this could beinteresting" , but no, it sucks. I first saw it in my girlfriendshouse, and thought "wow, this is actually pretty entertaining" but theni began to think about the jokes, the characters... and the only thingthat came into my mind was "Friends". "OMG, this is a copy offriends!!!" i thought, and i was right, it's the exact same thing, thejokes the scenario the characters attitude and their friendship, it'sall there!! Now tell me, why would they make a reboot of the 90's show?Because it sells, so why watch it? Just to prove my point i made a listof things that we have seen in "Friends" and that are similar in "How imet your mother" :MacLaren's Pub / Central Perk.Monica & Chandler/Lily & MarshallRachel & Ross date / Robin & Ted dateRachel & Joey date / Robin&Barney dateJoey's a womanizer / Barney is a womanizer.Barney and Phoebe don't know who their dad is. Both have been lied bytheir mother/grandmother respectively.Ross & Ted both end up as professors.Emily didn't want Rachel to be around Ross / Stella with Robin..And the list goes on...So that's that, "How i met you're mother" is like a show made for kids,it has stupid/childish jokes, it has loving/clichéd characters, and ithas a moral in the end of every episode, to give us that worm feelingthat everything is going to be alright... Man this show is the basicform of a US comedy, it always has been this way, and it will stay thisway until people realize that sh*t like this is boring, repetitive andsimple has hell, kinda like pop music these days, but that's anotherstory...

The potential to become the next big thing

I have been watching this show for about five weeks now since BBCbought it and I have to say it is one of the best comedy shows to comeout of the U.S. I could go as far to say that it has the potential tobe the new 'Friends'. Like that show it involves a group of characterscongregating in both an apartment and a public venue of some kind thistime a bar. But in my opinion this show has a lot more heart, lesscruel putdowns and not as many ridiculous situations. Another way theshow makes itself original is through its backward narrative so eachepisode is told itself as a separate story the only problem is thateventually we are going to have to find out how Ted 'Met Your Mother'Josh Radnor shines in his first leading role making Ted likable withoutbeing a complete sissy who almost reminds me of Jimmy Fallon butslightly better in the roles he plays. Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigando well in their parts, Lily and Marshall are probably the mostrealistic characters trying to make the final step into adulthood butbeing pulled back by witnessing the fun that the other members of thegroup are having. Robin could have easily been a one-sided characterbut Cobie Smolders makes her seem both exciting and vunreable. But asBarney, Neil Patrick Harris steals the show. After his self-spoofingappearance in Harold and Kumar he showed that he had a niche for comedyand that is evident here. Every put-down, one-liner and sparkling lineof dialogue is delivered brillaintly. And even though Barney isshallow, Harris makes him likable showing his need for the company ofthe others as a sounding board for his schemes to get Ted a woman. Finally the writing is sharp and some of the scenes are so realistic, especially the latest episode I watched in the club, where nobody couldhere what anyone else was saying. All in all the best American sitcomin a long while.

The goal is important

The difference between HIMYM and other sitcoms such as Friends orScrubs is that there is a quest and a goal within the show. We knowwhat the goal is but it's really the journey that is the real thing. Iwould say thats something new and exciting. I think that every personcan recognize them self in this story. If you really think of your loveand how you met and the things that lead up to that. As future Tedtells us. If he had not made the butterfly tattoo he wound not have metStella. If he would not met Stella he would not have met Tony, whooffered Ted the job at the university and so on. Everything happens fora reason. Enjoy the journey!

kiga-1 2012-05-12 23:00:25

As BAD as it gets...maybe worse

This show has absolutely nothing new, its gimmick is stupid, theediting is bad...and Alyson Hannigan (however you spell it) is justawful. She has now used up all of her good will from "Band Camp" makingher a two-role person.Someone should let her in on the joke because she is not funny, butit's not all her fault, the script is lame, but her delivery makes youwant to cringe. The other actors are rip-offs of "Friends" and their dialog isn't muchbetter.Absolutely atrocious, unless 2 1/2 Men can save it, it will off the airby the end of the season."You don't have a right to an opinion...you have the right to anINFORMED opinion."

TomBcat 2012-05-12 06:45:23

What's up with all the hate?

I really had fun with this show for a while. But at some point, thesame stories happen over and over again, for example: Ted will buildsome giant building, no, he wont, oh yes he will, no, now he doesn'twant to anymore and so on and so forth. Still it manages to entertain, mostly because of the acting, I guess. What makes this show average atbest are the jokes on the expense of others. Everyone who doesn't fitan exact profile(everyone who isn't somewhat like Ted and his friends)is instantly hated. Examples: Every girl who sleeps with Barney iscalled a skank who deserved it by the girls of the group, sometimes theguys. Maybe this is to calm down female viewers, I don't know...Environmentalists(except Marshall, who never actually does anything forthe environment), vegans, animal rights activists and anyone who has adifferent world view and moral code are self righteous,holier-than-though types of people and most of the time also completelyinsane. Everyone else, like punk-ish looking girls, people who likecats, hippies and people who wear different clothes are simply crazy, dangerous and can be considered garbage Barney is allowed to pick uplater. What's up with that? Stereotypes are there to have fun with them, and for a while, I had,but at some point I couldn't shake the feeling that the writers of thisshow are boiling with hate deep inside and want to punish someone fortheir unresolved issues. Is this really how people think about others?I'm still watching, mainly because of Jason Seagal, but I wish the showwould leave a little space for people who think, or just look, a littledifferently.

speki-1 2012-05-11 05:36:14

love it

this show is so much fun, and so lovable. i love the interactionbetween the characters. i have seen all these actors on other shows, and it is so nice to see their abilities displayed in a great setting.besides, barney is hilarious. and, i must say, i'll sometimes catchother sitcoms but this is the only sitcom i tape every week to watch.this is the first show in a long time that i can't wait to watch. andthe suspense is killing me. although, i don't really want to know howhe met their mother - cause then the show might have to end. and iwould be sad. and, i was very sad to see the end of victoria - i reallyliked her. but, that won't stop me from watching. i don't think enoughpeople appreciate the loveliness of this show.

Best. show. EVER!

I began watching this show because Alyson Hannigan was is the cast andI'm a big fan of hers from "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" where she playedthe character Willow Rosenburg. I had heard some not so good reviewsabout "How I Met Your mother" but I figured I would give it a shot.Iwas very pleasantly surprised at what I saw. This show has fantasticcharacters that I grew instantly attached to that are put in a newhilarious situation each episode. Of all the sitcoms I've seen i wouldhave to say this is my favorite. The writing is fantastic and theacting is great. This is the kind of show you can watch over and overagain and it will still be funny.

howTVshouldbe 2012-05-05 18:36:18

It's such a joy to watch this show consistently hit all the right notes. Do not let TV's best studio-audience sitcom pass you by.

Network: CBS; Genre: Sitcom; Content Rating: TV-PG (some language, suggested adult & sexual content); Available: DVD; Perspective:Contemporary (star range: 1 - 4); Seasons Reviewed: 3 seasons Just when you think the sitcom might just roll over and die, it gets aspark of ingenuity from the most unlikely of places. Rarely have I seena show with such a deceptively lame concept come off so fresh andimaginative in it's execution.Set in the future, "How I Met Your Mother" is told entirely inflashback, as a father Ted (voiced by an unseen, uncredited Bob Saget)tells his children a lengthy story that answers the title question. Theanswer to how he met their mother is found somewhere in the New Yorkmisadventures of a 20-something Ted Mosby (Josh Rader) and his closestfriends: long-time couple Marshall (Jason Segel, "Freaks and Geeks")and Lilly (Alyson Hannigan), Canadian local news anchor and Ted's loveinterest, Robin (Cobie Smulders) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), aprofessional bachelor who has turned dating and life management into asuit-wearing contact sport in which he reins as the king of awesome. What starts out as yet another sitcom about hipster singles in New Yorkwith a useless gimmick evolves in the 2nd season into a modest littlesitcom masterpiece. Creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas pull theflashback format in every imaginable direction. Flashbacks inside offlashbacks and the true story content censored for Ted's children arejust a few of the tricks Bays & Thomas have up their sleeve for thisnonlinear story. Also around season 2, somewhere around neo-classic episodes like "TedMosby, Architect" and the brilliant "Slap Bet", the cast getscomfortable with each other and tightens into one of those classicallysolid ensembles. All 5 of the leads hold up their end of the tent. While I choke with disgust on the ever-popular and wildly misusedcritic's adjective "lovable" (usually reserved only for Judd Apatowshows) they are all pretty darn endearing. Attention goes to Rader fortaking what could have been another boring straight man role and givinghim all the colorful idiosyncrasies usually afforded to supportingcharacters. If anyone thinks Robin is the weak link, that gets blownout of the water with spectacular bit of less-than-flattering comedySmulders performs at the end of "Slap Bet" - to date the show's singlefunniest moment. But the gold metal (and a few deserving Emmy nominations) should go toNeil Patrick Harris who aggressively cements Barney Stinson as thecharacter he will be remembered for - instead of that other one. Barneyis wacky, to be sure, filled with funny one-liners and quotablecatchphrases, with a mushy humanity underneath. From bits where Barneyexplains the "hot/crazy line" or "the platinum rule" or doing a DavidLetterman top 10 about the names he would have called a moving van,it's a miracle that Barney doesn't become a black hole that sucks upALL the show's jokes. Barney is larger than life, taken to hyperbolicextremes by the show yet grounded by Harris. It's a great performanceof a well-written character. The show is charming, delightful and clean in a way that wouldn'tsuggest how edgy and laugh-out-loud funny it also is. "Mother" is thebest example since "Seinfeld" of a show that is able to do an entire 30minutes on something decidedly adult (venture the third season episode"Third Wheel" about threesomes) in a way so clever it could still beviewed by the entire family.Yes, the single scene in New York is ground that has been trampled todeath. I don't need to tell you all the places we've seen this before.Yet, "Mother" amazingly finds new avenues to explore. "Single Stamina"feels very "Sex and the City" yet entirely fresh. The exterior setscould be from "Seinfeld" yet fit the show perfectly because it hasproved to have a genuine love for New York - not just using the city asa another backdrop. The flashback and multiple-POV jokes? Yes,"Coupling" did them, but "Mother" does them just as cleverly. From it'sguy-centered exploration (even elevation thanks to Barney) of thesingle life to it's beautification of New York to it's cleverstorytelling structure, any way you slice it "How I Met Your Mother" ison par with the best of them.Yes, "The Office" may get all the hip network buzz and "30 Rock" gets alot of critical acclaim from a press that is oddly hesitant aboutacknowledging this show's achievements. I'm taking equal delight in"Mother". It's such a joy to watch this show consistently hit all theright notes. It's funny, it's got heart, it's unpredictable and it's gowit to burn. Do not let TV's best studio-audience sitcom pass you by.Wait for it… * * * * /4

Great Concept + Poor Implementation= Big Disappointment

What can I say? I watched all the publicity all summer about this showwhile watching lamearse "Big Brother" on CBS and really thought I likedthe idea of how this show was going to work. I pictured a sort of "MadAbout You" type thing with a more expansive feel - the early days ofmeeting and dating evolving into what would become a long termrelationship. What a tremendous premise if it was done in a "lookingback" way. I even thought it might be something like alook-back-to-the-80s sort of thing although that wasn't really clear atall in the previews. When I started watching the first episode and I saw the "Wonder Years"type narrative form, I thought, hey, this could be actually a reallygreat concept... borrowing from others but making a completely newform. 2030? OK, so the setting will be more present day - I can livewith that. Then, I watched the show. And then the second episode. And the third. How disappointing. The concept should have led to a really original idea. The cast havethat familiarity born of folks who have been around TV in somewhatdifferent roles but they should be believable in these ones. I admit it- I LIKE Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan in this. Or at least,I SHOULD like them if they were actually given some material to workwith. I guess the expression I am looking for is – I WANT to like them, they are working so hard. What's wrong with the show? Well, after you get past the premise -almost everything. I don't think you can blame the cast - it is likethey have been handed an armload of coal and asked to make diamonds. There just is not enough substance or originality in the writing. Thejokes are various combinations of old, predictable and lame. All thespark and humour that made classics like "Night Court", "Cheers" and"Seinfeld" work is completely absent. There is also no trace offarcical or out-there innuendo that made shows like "Three's Company"and "Mork and Mindy" hilarious.I remember in the "golden era" of the sitcom, sometimes sitting infront of my television with my ribs aching from laughing so hard. Thisshow should have been the kind of thing that I would find somewhathilarious. Many of the "old classic" shows have found new life inrecent years by revisiting the concepts originally envisioned andupdating them – for example, Battlestar Galactica. Others have touchedme in different ways I have I aged and my life has evolved. Since I nowhave kids of my own, I often enjoy stories based on premises like "howwe met" or "how we started a family" – I guess age, experience andwisdom allow me to relate well. I enjoyed "Six Feet Under" not onlybecause of the interesting concept and brilliant writing, but becauseit kept me grounded in a way by reminding me to live life to itsfullest because everyone is going to die.Why am I bringing all this up? Because I think this show has, or maybejust HAD, great potential. Strong writing and a dedicated network couldhave turned this into the next long-running television classic sitcomin spite of this era of "reality" television and the proliferation ofcopycat special-FX driven crime dramas. Instead, it is just a paleimitation of the far overrated Friends wrapped in a "Wonder Years"wrapper. (Don't get me wrong, I liked Friends, but it was only reallyfunny for a couple of seasons – I didn't LOVE it like some othersitcoms.) I'm going to try watching a little more. Heck, I gave "Joey"4 months before I gave up on it. My advice to others would be to checkit out, but don't expect too much. You'll likely be just as disappointed as I was.

The greatest comedy off all time

The greatness of How I Met Your Mother is how they fit so welltogether. And I know most people say this, but it really is like thenew Friends(#2 on my list, b-t-dub). That is also why I do not likepeople who watch 2 episodes and then scream out on for instance socialnetworks that "Barney rules!". I mean, yeah, he totally does, but whatmakes him, as well as the show, awesome is their chemistry. The way thecomedy is used in this show is fantastic, with the use of the rich andawesome Barney Stinson, the hard-working lawyer Marshall Eriksen, thesweet little kindergarten worker Lily Aldrin, TV-reporter and CanadianRobin Scherbatsky and last but not least, Ted Mosby(no, not the pornstar), architect and fun guy. Some of my favorite things in this show is how well Ted and Marshallknow each other, how Marshall and Lily can communicate, the willthey-wont they of Ted and Robin, the awesomeness of Barney "TheBarnacle" Stinson and other relationships as well as how Barney, who ishigh up in his company, can in some areas, be so stupid, and how Ted isso pretentious.I can easily say that if you start watching it, you will get hooked..There is one thing you need to know, especially if you are starting towatch the show..: Even though the show is called "How I Met YourMother", don't just expect to see the mother. The thing is, it's aTV-show which is about a father telling his two kids the story of howhe met their mother. To explain this shortly, I'll just say; It's notthe destination that counts, it's the journey".Just to assess how much I love this show I need to go back to thebeginning. I started watching How I Met Your Mother after one seasonhad aired. Since I am 17 now and live in Norway, at that time it wasnot familiar to, well, anyone in Norway. So I figured, what the fudge,I'll give it a try. And as the first episode premiered on my iPod, Icouldn't let it go. I was just obsessed and needed to see all of it.Since then I've been hooked.

Everyone should watch 'How I Met Your Mother'

http://entertainmentblur.wordpress.comEver since the years with Seinfeld, Friends, and Frasier providing anonslaught of sitcom laughs and fun, many have said that the sitcom wasdead. Although the state of sitcoms will probably never reach that peakfrom the late 90's, CBS has made quite a splash with its two strongsitcoms: Two and a Half Men and How I Met Your Mother. I will praiseTwo and a Half Men in another review, but for now let me talk aboutYour Mother (I'm sorry, I just had to).How I Met Your Mother might be the most unconventional sitcom I haveever seen. Usually you have an incredibly simple premise: For example,a show about nothing, or a show about six friends who spend their daysat a coffee house and their nights sleeping around. How I Met YourMother plays off like the Memento of sitcoms… you don't know anythingabout the characters, you don't know what's real or not, there areenough plot twists to spin your head, and it's told in flashback, andeven the flashbacks have flashbacks. Its tagline reads: A love story in reverse. And that's exactly what itis. It starts off in the year 2030 with two kids seated on the couch. The off-screen narrator is Ted (voiced by Bob Saget) and he's tellinghis children the story about how he met their mother. He begins thestory 25 years ago in the year 2005 and the adventure takes off. How I Met Your Mother has everything that makes a good sitcom. It haslikable and unique characters: Ted (Josh Radnor) plays like the lovableloser Ross was in Friends, and then that makes Robin (Cobie Smulders)Ted's Rachel. Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lilly (Alyson Hannigan) arethe cutest couple on TV. And then the scene stealing, hilarious Barney(the always brilliant Neil Patrick Harris) is the icing on the cake. Ontop of the characters being, as Barney would put it… "legendary," theiron-screen chemistry is superb. You have no doubts that this fantasticfive are actually friends in real life. The final thing that makes a good sitcom is good writing, and this iswhere I feel How I Met Your Mother breaks the boundaries. In additionto the writing being witty, entertaining, and funny, there's a level ofdepth that this show has over any other sitcom. There are layers ofuncertainty that can either provide for a big laugh as well as dropyour jaw to the floor. I didn't believe it at first when I read howeven in the first episode there's a minor plot twist. I thought, "Plottwist? In a sitcom? How could that work?" But this show makes it workwith ease because of its strong writing. There have been a lot of comparisons from How I Met Your Mother toFriends. Heck, that's how CBS marketed this show. They do share somesimilarities: The group of friends in a romantic-comedy genre, the NewYork City setting, the bar MacLaren's is their Central Perk hangout, and just the fact that the characters live way above their allowedmeans. But even when the show looks, sounds, and feels like a Friendsrip-off… it's not. How I Met Your Mother is wildly entertaining in itsown, original way. The narrating, foreshadowing, surprises, andcliffhangers are just some reasons why this show is for anyone. If you haven't given this show a chance yet, all I have to say to youis you better SUIT UP and watch How I Met Your Mother.

Show is Legen-dary! DVD - not as good...

While the show is wonderfully funny and should be watched by anyone wholikes humor - this is really a comment about the DVD boxed set forSeason 1.The box set was released soon after the premiere of Season 2 here inthe US, and was snatched up by many early adopters who found out (totheir dismay) that they only get 80% of the show. That is right - the Widescreen, HD-shot TV show is released on DVD inPan and Scan, and in normal resolution. So not only do we lose quality;they also chopped off 10% of the screen to the left and right of thecenter in each episode.Barring those issues, the commentary, and special features were worththe price - but I'll keep the episodes on my TIVO to watch in fullwidescreen, thanks anyways.

One of the worst shows on TV

This show is terrible. It's cute and cloying, and totally unoriginal inthe way it rips off Friends, which was itself pretty bland. One of the most interesting things about the show is that several ofthe cast members are considered to be hip. Alyson Hannigan was in Buffythe Vampire Slayer. Jason Segal is a big Apatow star. Neil PatrickHarris did his Harold and Kumar cameos. This backs up my own personal crank theory that the chief value ofcool, in Hollywood, is that you can buy it and add it to some reallyterrible, hacky, formulaic train wreck and make it somewhat palatable. The problem is that eventually your cool wears off, and you becomeassociated with the hackneyed tripe you've been hired to dilute. If youdon't believe me, ask David Spade. He used to be cool too.I know lots of people love this show, but I don't know how to explainit.
