Its October 30, 1988 and Michael Myers has been in a coma since his pursuit of Laurie Strode, 10 years ago, was finally stopped (events of H1 and H2). However when he is transfered from Richmond Mental Institute to Smiths Grove he awakes when he hears that he has a niece in Haddonfield and after killing the transfer crew he escapes. In Haddonfield, the niece, Jamie, has been adopted by the Carruthers family but keeps having nightmares about Michael (but she doesnt know who he is). On Halloween night, Jamie goes out trick and treating, little knowing that her murdering Uncle is following her and her step-sister Rachel. Rushing to her aid is Dr. Loomis and with the help of Sheriff Meeker starts to search the town for Michael and to find Jamie to protect her. But can anything stop Michael this time?

Movie Photos:
We have taken some photos of "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers". They represent actual movie quality.
In Halloween 4, the masked, knife-wielding psychopath Michael Meyers is after his little neice Jamie (daughter of Jamie Lee Curtis's character, who's not in the movie), who is living in a foster home, in his quest to kill off all his living female relatives (?). Danielle Harris, the little girl who plays Jamie is a fantastic, very believable actor for her age, and is better than a lot of the adults. The girl who plays Rachel also does a great job. Overall I don't have any complaints with the acting. The movie isn't terrifying by any means, but it's just scary enough to be fun. I loved the surprise scene that came just before one of the characters was impaled through the stomache (those of you who watched the movie know the scene and character I'm talking about). The music is simple but brilliant as ever. And there are a ton of action-packed and suspenseful scenes. Granted, I've only watched 1, 4, 5, and most of Resurrection (yuck! And WTF is Busta Rhymes doing in the movie??), but Halloween 4 is almost as great as the first one was. Halloween 5 is worth watching for the Halloween fan, but the teenagers are so damn annoying and it takes FOREVER for anything interesting to happen. I remain firm that 1 and 4 are the best of the series.
This film surprised me a lot. This is Halloween 4 and the third one withhorror hero Michael Myers. This time, Mike returns to his old childhood homein Haddonfield and is after his little niece (the daughter of Jamie LeeCurtis's character: Laurie Strode). This is a good slasher, very well madein almost all places. The movie begins when Myers is being transferred to ahospital after 10 years in coma. On the way, Mike wakes up and murderseveryone in the car and breaks lose!! once again. Those opening scenes gotof quite well and gave the movie a good start. The ones who don't agree, should watch this movie with no lights on and at night. This is scary andthey pull it off well here. Michael Myers is no human being, he is a drivenforce of evil. He appears very realisic here, especially in the wherehousescene (in the beginning...on the way to Haddonfield) where Dr. Loomis andMyers meet face to face. When returned to Haddonfield, we got the niece andher babysitter, Rachel. Both act very well and make a good team. But, DonaldPleasence as Dr. Sam Loomis is the super act here once again. Every time whenhe says 'this isn't a man', it always sounds more and more convincing. ThePleasence presence is unmissable. Without it, the movie wouldnt be much.Donald Pleasence is an old famous English actor, who has gained tremendousrespect for his classic works. To me, the Loomis character gives Michael acertain spirit. A spirit that gives you the chills. The final scene provesthis very well when Mikes soul seems to have entered the body of the littleniece. The way the little girl appeared on top of the stair case in hercostume with Donald Pleasence screaming and looking up at her from thebottom of the staircase; That gave gave me chills to my spine. I would notsay this movie is perfect however. It has a few faults, but nothing major. So if u like the Halloween movies, u will like this one. Just watch it atnight with no light.
"Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" (1988) Starring DonaldPleasance, Ellie Cornell, and Danielle Harris Directed by Dwight H.LittleIn 1978 the world was introduced to psychopath Michael Myers, whostalked the screens in the extremely successful "Halloween", which hascome to be possibly the most influential horror movie of all time andthe most successful independent film of all time. It was later followedby the decent "Halloween II" that didn't live up to the original butgave it a nice try. Michael Myers was put to rest for a little to allowthe series to try for a new storyline in "Halloween III: Season of theWitch", but that flopped at the box office and Hollywood decided to putthe "Halloween" name to rest for a little. Then, six years later,Michael Myers was brought back to the screen in the awesome thriller"Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" in which new characters wereintroduced, old ones returned, and tons of thrills awaited. The story isn't bad in "Halloween 4"; Michael awakes from a coma onOctober 30th, 1988, nearly ten years to the day since he was put in it.He escapes from a hospital truck and heads back to Haddonfield, lookingfor his sister Lori (who does not appear in this but was played byJamie Lee Curtis in the first and second "Halloween" films). Ratherthan finding Lori, Michael finds her daughter Jamie (played by themagnificent and amazing Danielle Harris) who is living under the fostercare of the Carruthers. Her older foster sister Rachel (Ellie Cornell, who almost does as good a job as Jamie Lee Curtis did in the originalas the heroine) is Jamie's real friend here. And once Michael returnshome looking for Jamie, he'll kill anyone who gets in his way, including Rachel and some of Rachel's friends.Donald Pleasance returnsas Dr. Sam Loomis, and his performance of the character has not let upyet. He is equally as captivating and heroic as he was in the original"Halloween", only this time he is more determined to kill Michael. AsLoomis tries to find his way to Haddonfield, Michael's home town whereJamie is, he is side tracked by explosions, cruel kids, the loss of acar, and even a man who is searching to kill his own 'devil.' The truequestion becomes whether or not Loomis will be able to save Jamie andRachel and survive Michael again. There are other characters here, including a new Sheriff, Rachel's cheating boyfriend, the Sheriff's badnatured daughter, and a whole bunch of town resident Red Necks thatwant revenge on Michael for what he did years ago.Sadly, this great sequel would be a little let down by the story lineof "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers" and then even moredestroyed in "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers." Then, when"Halloween H20" rolls around, "Halloween 4", "Halloween 5", and"Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers" would be forgotten and acted asif they never happened. This is a wonderful entry to the "Halloween"series that isn't too gory and involves all the right elements that theoriginal "Halloween" defined to be in a horror movie, but this film isoriginal about it. Not many horror films can say they almost lived upto the original "Halloween" but "Halloween 4: The Return of MichaelMyers" can.8/10- Recommended for people looking for a thrill or a scare
After the fire explosion that occurred in Halloween II, Michael Myershas been in a deep coma over the last ten years...and apparently overthese ten years Laurie Strode(heroine from one and two)has died in acar crash, leaving daughter Jamie behind in the care of the Carruthersfamily. Unfortunately for her, Michael is about to wake up from hisvery long nap... During a routine transfer from the Richmond MentalInstitute on a rainy Halloween Eve, Michael awakens in the back of anambulance and proceeds to kill everyone on it(even using his thumb)...and thanks to the discussion that the personnel were having about his"young" niece living in Haddonfield, Michael once again sets his sightson the quiet little community that he terrorized ten years earlier.Upset by the fact that the doctors let "it" be taken out of thehospital, Doctor Loomis(Pleasance)makes his way to Haddonfield to warnJamie and her foster family. Along the way, however, he runs into Myersat a gas station and ultimately loses his ride in a fiery explosion(caused by Myers). Now Loomis has to hitchhike, giving our favoritepsycho a head start towards Haddonfield. Suspense and thrills galore asMichael arrives during trick-or-treating time and proceeds toterrorize/stalk Jamie and her sister Rachel. To quickly sum up the restLoomis eventually arrives in Haddonfield, convinces the new SheriffMeeker(Beau Starr)to help him out, they find Jamie and Rachel and takethem to Meeker's home(where Meeker's daughter Kelly and Rachel'ssupposed boyfriend Brady are "hanging out"), and they all end upbarricading themselves inside the house in hopes of keeping Michaelout. Well, if you ask me, this 'barricading' idea is a pretty nice wayto get the audience anxious because by now most people are going tofigure out that Myers is probably already inside. So that's the rundownof the plot. Seems a little long, huh? That's a good thing...Anyhow, what Halloween 4 lacks in originality it makes up for with somevery well directed scare scenes. There are several, and I'll start withmy favorite which is the scene with the Sheriff's daughter and DeputyLogan. This is easily one of the most subtle scenes that I rememberfrom these eighties slasher flicks. It kind of comes out of nowhere, and I say 'kind of' because I always assumed that he was in the housealready, but I was never really sure. Then there is the scene on theroof. VERY suspenseful, especially if you are afraid of heights, like Iam. It always bugs me when Rachel is reaching towards the highest pointof the roof and her fingernails are scratching on the shingles...andthen, of course, it breaks!! And finally there is the climax involvingthe truck, which I won't spoil. Now on to the gore/death scenes. The gore in this installment is prettyhigh(a jaw gets ripped off, a head gets crushed, there's a thumb in theforehead, a shotgun through the midriff). Most of the death scenes arefairly inventive, like the scene where Michael shoves a shotgun all theway through Kelly and it comes out on the other side of the door, pinning her to it. The brief fight between Michael and Brady was prettyrough, and definitely ended nicely since he was such a jerk to Rachel.Basically, I like Halloween 4. I read somewhere on IMDb that it is sortof an homage to the original, and I couldn't agree with that more. Itis an homage, and a good one, too. Another good thing is that it opensup a lot more plot for the sequels to come. I definitely recommend itfor a Halloween night marathon.8/10. Deducted a point for the bad directing/editing in the schoolhousescene where Michael has seemingly gotten a dye job within the last twominutes that we last saw him. But don't let that mislead you. The filmis still good. Trust me. Followed by Halloween 5:The Revenge of Michael Myers, which is just asgood, in my opinion. But I recommend watching 'The Return' first.
This review is from: Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (Special DiviMax Edition) (DVD) While I am very fond of this movie, I am writing primarily to express my satisfaction with the special features. This dvd contains two audio commentaries. One features the two primary ladies in the film, Danielle Harris and Ellie Cornell. The other is done by the writer of the movie. This combination offers the perfect balance. The two girls sound like precisely that-two girls. Neither of them makes any pretense of being a hardcore horror fan. In fact, I got the impression that they've barely seen THIS horror movie. Be that as it may, they have a chemistry together, and offer some interesting insights into the making of the movie. Listening to them, it's almost like watching the film with your girlfriend or sister. They infuse the proceedings with a degree of charm, which is not something you ordinarily experience while viewing a slasher movie. On the other hand, the writer's commentary is directed at the serious fan. If you really love the Halloween series, as I do, there are some illuminating things to be found here.I've always preferred commentaries that focus on the story, rather than backstage antics. The writer, as might be expected, comes through more effectively than the girls in that regard. This makes for a great combination. You get a variety of insights, which is not always the case with special features.I was especially impressed with Ellie Cornell. She shows great respect for the movie, and particularly for the fans. It's always possible that she's just being diplomatic, of course. But, ultimately, the fact that she goes to the trouble to show such respect for people like myself, who love these movies, reveals that she is a lady, and a quality human being. If you love this movie, this is the edition to get. It's hard to imagine that there will ever be a better version after this. While I've focused on the special features, the movie itself would be worth your money if it had to stand alone. Another great performance from Donald Pleasence. We see more of the humanity in Dr. Loomis in this one than perhaps anyplace else in the series. (Particularly when he's hitchhiking, and gets picked up by the old man in the truck.)Rachel Carruthers is easily my favorite heroine in the series. Danielle Harris is ideal in her role as Jamie. Without question, the best ending of any film in the series(after the first one, of course.)All in all, this dvd gives you an awful lot for the money. Perhaps more than any other slasher dvd I've been exposed to. This is easily the finest dvd treatment that has been given to any of the Halloween films, other than the original.
Starting off in the Ridgemont Federal Sanitarium for almost a yearafter the last attack on Haddonfield. But now he has escaped with alittle help by two ambulance superintendents who have gotten permissionto move him from the institute to their hospital. During the tripMichael Myers(George P. Wilbur)wakens and kills them. This movie follows off in the right step as it follows the killerinstead of the hero's. You see, Michael is after his niece JamieLloyd(Danielle Harris)as she is the only living relative to him. He'llkill whomever gets in his way, that does include his doctor, Dr. SamLoomis(Donald Pleasence), Brady(Sasha Jenson)and Kelly Meeker(KathleenKinmont).Oh, and did I mention that Jamie's parents died and that she has beenliving with Rachael Carruthers(Ellie Cornell) and her family? I reallyenjoyed the killings and watching Michael walk so effortlessly to hisvictims as if they were nothing but toothpicks. I just wish that hewould have of at least killed that doctor though, he was so annoying. The doctor that is.I gave this a seven star as it was so good and that it just directedyour attention to ever detail and scene. Well done to the directors,
Halloween 4 is, was and always will be the best sequel of all the ones made It is kinda like are working of the first halloween only much much more interesting Danielle Harris is amazing for her age Ellie Cornell is better than Jamie Lee Curtis Halloween 4 Rocks
Returning to the formula of the original film, Halloween 4 feels like a logical continuation of the series but has enough originality to set it apart.I seem to be in the minority, but I didn't care for Halloween II (the original or Rob Zombie version). Losing Carpenter's directing style, it just felt like a generic slasher, but Halloween 4 really was a great new direction for the series.Rachel and Jamie are a great leading duo and of course Donald Plesance is fantastic as Dr. Loomis. Standout scenes include Dr. Loomis confronting Michael at the gas station and the rooftop escape. What I wasn't prepared for was the emotional impact of the ending. The reaction Dr. Loomis gives to the startling revelation was gut wrenching and the final image very disturbing without any type of gore whatsoever.I wasn't a fan of the stuntmen playing Michael (one seemed to be hunching or have no neck at one point), but luckily the director kept The Shape in the shadows where he belongs for the most part. After watching the original I would recommend this installment as a solid follow up. I should also mention that the audio commentaries, one with the 2 main actresses and the other with the writer and a moderator are very lively and informative. The making of documentary "The Final Cut" is also very enjoyable. Definitely get the Divimax version.
After the very unsuccessful HALLOWEEN III:SEASON OF THE WITCH,fans werecraving for Michael's return. So writer Alan McElory, who whould later writeWrong Turn, wrote HALLOWEEN 4:THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS in 2 weeks. For afilm this good, that's impervise. And director Dwight H. Little join in tomake one of the greatest returns in film history. Well it turned out that Michael didn't die on part 2,just burned verybad. And the mental hospital kept it a secret. So just when it was time tomove him,he escapse. And goes right back to the happy little town ofHaddonfield, were his niece,Jaime Lloyd(Danielle Harris),is adopted at afterthe death of her mother,Laurie Strode(Jamie Lee Curtis, although not shown infilm).Jamie is somehow connected to Michael's evil and has psychic visionsof him.But now that Michael's back,Dr.Loomis is back and is he's ready toMichael's madness before he takes over Jamie. This is just as good as or better than the first. You think Michael'skillings where bad on 2,then you got to see this one.I gusse he was happy tobe back in business and gave us the best death scenes in the wholeseries. The director did a great job in bringing back that mood thatHALLOWEEN had.And Michael's mask is way more creepy than on theoriginal.Danielle Harris also did a good job in her first role. The endingwas just as shocking as the original. It would have been better if they leftit with this one.
This, was a good movie, in the HALLOWEEN series, but I didn't like onethingin particular. The Police get so involved in this Michael Myers thing, theyhave shotguns and everything else and they still can't kill him, but I didlike how Jamie was Laurie's daughter, and Myers is her uncle. This is agoodmovie, go see it. Third best in the HALLOWEEN series. I give it7/10
Ten years after we presumed Michael Myers and Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) dead in a fire, they've returned-but for obviously different reasons. Michael is in hot pursuit of his young niece(Danielle Harris), with Loomis determined to halt a repeat of ten years ago. This time, the police listen. Michael Myers isn't really scary here, and neither is the movie. Director Little mimics John Carpenter's use of darkness and atmosphere, and film tries hard, but never really gets off the ground. To his credit, Little doesn't sell out to the competition here and bombard us with blood and nudity. Good, but could have been great. Superior to the one that followed. Last but not least, Jamie Lee Curtis is sorely missed. It's too bad that Donald Pleasance didn't live to appear with her again in "Halloween H20".
As I already own Halloween 1 and 2, I recently rented Halloween 4, 5 and 6. I am amazed at how the story line was kept in order and how each movie explains it's self well. However I am very confused in the last Halloween H2O. It never says that Laurie Strode had a daughter, but she does have a son, John. And why did she give her daughter away and stage her death? Well, the staging of her death I understand, but why did she give up her daughter and why was it never mentioned in the last sequel? If anyone knows, please, please let me know. Claudia Klempau
Well I thought Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis died in the explosion atthe end of Halloween II. I guess I was wrong. Halloween 4 brings usback to Haddonfield and I'm happy to be back.Michael Myers has been in a coma for ten years. Doctors aretransferring Michael from a clinic to a different hospital. But Michaelwakes up and goes back to Haddonfield. There he's going after his 9year old niece Jamie Lloyd. But Dr. Loomis knows he's out there. So hetries to stop him (as usual) and save Jamie.First off the acting is great. I love Donald Pleasance and was happy tosee him back. Newcomer Danielle Harris who is only 9 years old deliversthe second best performance in the whole film. Usually it's hard tocast a kid but the crew struck gold with Harris. The rest of the casthad great chemistry. They are well acted. We actually get to know thecharacter before they get killed. John Carpenter is completely missing, the only thing is the score, butthe series is in good hands. The film has an eerie feel to it. DirectorDwight H. Little brings a sense of atmosphere to the film and creates anumber of suspenseful scenes. He is able to build suspense and not justgo for the cheap thrill which the Friday the 13th Series did, which thesecond movie also did. But this one goes back to the suspense and isn'ta gore fest. The deaths are bloody but they're different and not justthe usual knife or hospital items. There are many intense scenes in the movie. First off a car chase withMichael on top of the car, and what I think is the best scene in thewhole movie, Michael chases the stars on the roof of their house. It'svery suspenseful and very intense. Also the ending is shocking and oneof the best endings in a horror movie. I won't give it away but I wassurprised. While it's flawed and not perfect I really enjoyed it. It was betterthan Halloween II and better than Halloween III. I liked seeing DonaldPleasence back and I liked going back to the Michael Myers story. 3 stars (out of 4 stars)
After the crappy Halloween 3 the fans of the series thought that theHalloween series was really dead. But hey, they made this movie bringingback Michael, the great Donald Pleasence and an okay story line. Howeverallthese things can't make up for the bad acting and very bad ending. But ifyour a fan of the Halloween movies this one is better than "The Curse OfMichael Myers" right?
Until H20 came on the scene, Halloween 4 was my 2nd favourite halloweenmovie(the original being the best). The movie has plenty of suspense and scares and beats the crap out ofHalloween 2,3,5 & 6.Most of the cast is pretty good ,except for the sheriff's daughter,a littlewooden to say the least, and Donald Pleasancedoes tend to go a little over the top.But apart from that I see Halloween,H20 and this the best three of theseries.
After an unrelated third entry, this was a great return toformfor the franchise. As we'd already seen Michael Myers "die"severaltimes already in the first two intstallments and get right backupagain for more, it was no surprise that he could survive beingsetalight in Halloween II. That Dr Loomis could survive hisexpecteddemise was more of a surprise, but he was a much lovedcharacterfor the series and I'm glad he was in this sequel. DonaldPleasancegives a wonderful performance and Dr Loomis is as reliableas ever (can see why people would think he's a bit loonythough, what with all his ramblings). The scene with thereverend in the antiquated automobile talking about apocalypseis amusing without ruining the tone of the movie. The vigilante squad roaming in absence of the police isa neat touch to the movie. The whole locking the maincharacters in a house, unwittingly with Michael Myers isa contrived situation of course, but so's the premise ofthe whole series. And it still manages some nice tension. My only main quibble here is that the reprise of John Carpenter'soriginal theme has been needlessly tinkered with, robbing itofsome of it's power.Pretty Ellie Cornell does a great job in this movie and acquitsherselfwell in the role of Jamie's protector and a heroine inperil. She's the most likable teen of the series and her wholesomenessseems a lot more natural than the forced chastity andsainthood of Jamie Leigh Curtis's original character.Danielle Harris does a great job in the role of the younggirl, Jamie. When has a child actor ever been this un-annoyingbefore? She does a good job of evoking sympathy andbeing believable and she and Ellie Cornell do a great doubleact (you could almost believe they really are sisters). We all know what's going to happen in the film, MichaelMyers is going to kill a few people and noone's going tobe able to stop him completely but the film is well craftedof it's kind, fun to watch, well acted and does createsometension and gets us to care for the characters. It's certainlya few notches above the average slasher sequel. The lastscene, refreshingly actually comes as a real shock andDonaldPleasance's performance really sells it that this is DrLoomisdriven to the point of dementia and beyond, by the revelationthat it's all about to start all over again. A great entertainingcontinuation of the Halloween series and definetly formethe best of the sequels.
This is the movie that for me established Micheal as the best of the only 3 true boogy men, Jason, and Freddy being the other 2. This in my opion is the best Micheal Myers film there is. HE DIGS HIS THUMB INTO SOME DUDES HEAD!!!!HOW AWSOME IS THAT!!! Jamie is very lucky to have an such a cool Uncle, eh?
If you thought the nightmare was over- you were DEAD wrong. Michael Myers is alive and well, and coming back to Haddonfield in "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers", the fourth installment to the "Halloween" series and the third appearance of the sadistic Michael Myers. Without a doubt, "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" is the best "Halloween" sequel. It is just almost as good as the original in so many ways. "Halloween 4" sticks to a simple formula of the original but doesn't copy, it is well acted and direcred, and it is scary as they come. Halloween has returned to Haddonfield, and HE has come home... again.First, "Halloween 4" stays with a simple, chilling story like the original "Halloween" but does not completely copy the film. It is hard for sequels to not stray too far from the series basics or not to just completely rewrite the original. Many series, such as "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Friday the 13th", and "A Nightmare on Elm Street" tend to get repetative with their many sequels. "Halloween" however finds something new to add into the mix. Here, in "Halloween 4", the babysitter's nightmare comes true again. It's been ten years since Michael Myers killed 16 people until finally being stopped by Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance). Myers and Loomis were both burned nearly to death, but they both lived, with Loomis gaining a limp and Myers being put into a coma. In those ten years, Lourie Strode has died with her husband Jimmy (from "Halloween II") in a car accident and left their daughter, Jamie (Danielle Harris) behind. Jamie has just arrived in a foster family under the care of the Curruthers', with Rachel Curruthers (Ellie Cornell) as her foster sister. Jamie has lived in fear of her uncle Michael waking up, but she hasn't had to worry... until now. While being transported to a different hospital, Michael awakes from his coma and brutally escapes, heading back to Haddonfield. No believes Loomis (again) that Myers is alive and heading to Haddonfield, but they are proven wrong when he arrives there, on Halloween night, and goes after little Jamie, plus anyone who gets in his way. Now this may sound like the original a bit, but the difference comes when this time Haddonfield is prepared for Myers, and when Loomis comes and warns Sheriff Meeker (Beau Starr, who has replaced Charles Cyphers as the Sheriff of Haddonfield), Haddonfield citizens and police get ready, but how is anyone safe. Meanwhie, Rachel has been assigned to take Jamie trick-or-treating, and soon enough, she looses her. Different twist from "Halloween" when Michael stalked babysitters with their children. Second, this film is great because of its acting. The original "Halloween" had excellent acting in it, creating very believable characters. The second "Halloween" had bad acting for the most (with the exception of Donald Pleasance, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Charles Cyphers). Here, we have some very talented young people. Donald Pleasance is of course great as Dr. Loomis who is now even more obsessed with killing Michael. Pleasance is convincing and great, and without him the "Halloween" series most likely wouldn't be what turned out to be. Joining the cast of the "Halloween" series is Ellie Cornell and Danielle Harris, both young, aspiring stars. Cornell is a perfect cast for Rachel and she is both beautiful and gifted as an actress. Cornell can play the pissed girlfriend, the protective older sister, and the terrified damsil in distress all in this one movie. Harris makes herself a horror icon in this movie. I have never seen a child actor more convincing than Harris in this movie. She will have you fear for her and her character runs along the lines of 1978's Lourie. Beau Starr doesn't replace Charles Cyphers, but he does hold a candle on his own. He is a great Sheriff and a memorable one at that. Sasha Jensen plays Rache's boyfriend Brady, Kathleen Kinmont plays the cruel daughter of Sheriff Meeker, and George P. Wilbur plays the sadistic Michael Myers. This is a cast that could only be accompanied by Dwight H. Little for a director and Alan B. McElroy as the writer. Thridly, this movie is scary. It is not disturbing or really gory, but like the first "Halloween", it is scary because it just is. Unlike the second, "Halloween 4" doesn't rely on gross out death scenes to get its point across. Yes, there are some 'creative' deaths, but none truly disgusting. There is very little blood shown and the amount of thrills shown takes care of the lack of gore. Michael is once again merciless. He goes from the hospital, to the ambulence, to the gas station, to the open road, to the electic company, to the town of Haddonfield, where he wreaks havoc on its citizens. The suspense builds to the climax where Michael is chasing his final victims while ontop a truck. Michael also continues to pop out at people and appear suddenly, making him once again just plain old creepy. A lot of times, by the fourth sequel in a series, the chills are worn out, but "Halloween" proves that theory wrong. In conclusion, if you are going to buy any two "Halloween" movies, make sure its 1978's "Halloween" and 1988's "Halloween 4: The Curse of Michael Myers". Overall, "Halloween 4" is a sure thing for any thriller fan. It is scary, entertaining, well acted, well done, well written, and just well overall. Michael Myers returns with a bang, and the series isn't even close to being over. From its suspense driven opening to its shocking and horrifying climax, you wil be sure to scream! Get the second night HE came home and continue your collection of great films.
The best in the series has Michael Myers returning to Haddonfield where he attacks his neice and anyone in his path. This is the most bloodiest since Part 6.this one is suspenseful and full of scares.the cast like Donald Pleasence,Ellie Cornell,Danielle Harris,Michael Pataki,George P.Wilbur,Beau Starr,Kathleen Kinmont, and Sasha Jenson give wonderful performances.Rated R for Strong Violence and Gore,Language,Brief Nudity and Sexuality.
A worthy sequel to HALLOWEEN I & II, and if you haven't seen part three yet, don't bother. It has nothing to do with the rest of this entertaining and super scary horror movie series. HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS is a technically well made film, with dedicated performances, yet another excellent music score from Carpenter's original (just done by Alan Howarth, who does a spooky, fantastic job) and a nicely written script. The only flaws with this film is that sometimes the plot is a little too slow, and that Michael Myers doesn't seem as scary as he did in the first two. The absence of Jamie Lee Curtis also plunges this movie a little down, but it still very worthy of a four star rating. Excellent and comparable to HALLOWEEN II, but of course, cannot top the first and only classic slasher film, HALLOWEEN (part one).
