Some fine scenes of drama and romance but a flawed movie.

This movie is a visual treat; set in Slovenia with scenes of ruralgypsy life constructed in exquisite detail it appears. Claire Forlani'sbeautiful, expressive and subtle face is ever present and she providesthe most plausible character in the piece. Perhaps just a little toosoft and scrubbed but it worked for me. (One day someone will write thepart this actress deserves to play.)Some of the scenes hold strong intensity of mood and atmosphere butsadly this is patchy because other scenes simply display banaldirecting. The plot follows a well worn Hollywood genreromance/thriller story line but leaves major links in the plot simplymissing. I suspect that budget constraints simply cut major storyelements. The result is that while the first half holds the level ofintensity, the plot then degenerates into banal predictability foranyone who is familiar with the genre.Worth seeing for the atmosphere and what might have been.

Claire Forlani is spectacular!!!!

This is an exciting movie. I urge all purchase this title, Claire Forlani plays her character well. A must see for Forlani fans.

Looking for this. You can get this on DVD...

If like me you are looking for this, then wait no longer. I have just imported mine from Germany for less than 15 Euros (and in 5 days). In Germany the title has changed and you should be looking for 'TOD in den AUGEN'. The original english sound track is on there. As for the film its alright, but it is starting to show its age, CF is great as always.
