Movie Photos:
We have taken some photos of "Get Rich or Die Tryin'". They represent actual movie quality.
After the success of 8 mile, it was obvious that hollywood would make a clone to cash in. The movie certainly looks very cheap, nothing spectacular, not even in the shootings. The story is predictable 50 cents' mother is killed when he is young, he gets tough, kind of wanting to avenge his mom, becomes a gangster, then a better gangster because his mentor gangster is good at this gangster-job. Predictably, 50 goes to jail, remembers his lost dream of being a rapper, though it was never clear that he wanted to be a rapper. of course he must fight his former crime buddies because no one can "retire" from crime, as we know from countless mafia movies. In the movie as in real life, 50 cent IS a speech impaired rapper, he just mumbles through his songs. This is addressed in the movie, and for fans this brings value to the film, we see 50 struggling with his own lack of clarity. There is a strange side-story in the movie that is not persued and does not add anything, which is sad, because it had real potential. In the movie, 50s mom is killed and until the end we don't know who did it, but it turns out that the two main suspects might also be 50s dad, and in the end it looks like his dad killed his mom, and there could have been some nice struggle in the possible dads over all this. In fact in connection with this side plot we have the movie's one ray of light: Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaie, who plays Majestic, the afformentioned good at gangsterism gangster. He is a superb actor, outclassing anything in the movie (including "Bana" played by the excellent actor from Hustle and Flow). If he was white he would be hailed as the next young Brando, he's that good. Sadly, trapped in this aweful movie he has to give terrible lines. His subtle struggle, not knowing if he is 50s dad, is drowned out, because one does not look for good acting a movie like this. I first noticed this actor in The Bourne Identity (the matt damon one), where he has a small role, but steals every scene he is in.I found the ending the worst part, because as 50 finally makes it onto stage, the winner, the hero, stepping into the limelight, he falls totally flat. just a muscle bound guy with no expression, and oddly no pressence, inspite of his bulked up, schwarzenegger body. Perhaps this total lack of pressence is part of his appeal. Eric B. and rakim, where are you?So if you love 50, you might get something out of this, otherwise stay away, if you are forced to watch it, keep an eye on majestic.
This Is a Great Movie Starring 50 Cent This Is Movie Lossley Based On 8 Mile Starring Eminem Which Is a Great Movie But Anway This Movie Is Like 50 Cent's Life It's a Deep And Raw Story It's a Little Ruff Aroud The Edges But It's a Great Movie Go Get Yourself a Copy At Your Local Walmart Or Fye Or Buy It Here At Amazon.com Anyway Go Pick Up This Great Movie Also Pick Up 8 Mile It's A Great Movie Too. Well That's All I Got To Say Thanks For My Reveiw See You.
I don't see why everyone has such a problem with this movie - I thoughtit was okay, it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, and it didn'thave the best acting ever, but it certainly wasn't the worst movieever. The ending wasn't too good, but the movie wasn't too shabby, thestoryline was good and it proved to keep me entertained for the fulltwo hours. I learnt a lot about 50 cent during the movie, even thoughI'm not a fan of rap and/or 50 cent himself, I still enjoyed it.The movie gives you inspiration, if 50 cent can go through a lot andcome out of it a billion dollar rapper at the end, it makes you thinkthat you could probably do something on the same level. You don't have to like rap and/or 50 cent to enjoy this movie and readinto it. If you enjoyed the trailer, don't let the bad reviews put youoff, that's what I did, yet I liked the movie.
wow, I was surprised to see how low of a rating this movie got, and allthe hard reviews. I liked this movie, I thought it was differen't fromwhat I'm used to watching, and they told an interesting story of astruggle that people actually experience. I also didn't think 50 centdid that bad of a job in it either, maybe people have a grudge againsthim or something, but I liked it. I guess if you like Eminem's movie 8mile you'd like get rich or die trying for the same reasons you watched8 mile. This one has a little more "street" element. Again, i'm notsure why people didn't like this, so i can't say I recommend it, unlessyou are willing to take a chance7/10
I don't know what on earth everyone is whining on about. I thought thefilm was really good. 50 Cent can definitely act, and the storyline waswell written out, and well acted by all. I think the only downside wasthe copious amount of swearing, because to be honest, I don't thinkANYONE actually swears that much. Nevertheless, I still think thatpeople aren't giving the film a chance, purely because they think it is"just another rapper making a film". Well, so what? It's stillentertainment. As for certain people claiming it is making "blackpeople look bad" it isn't at all. 50 Cent grew up around drug dealers, and god knows what else, he is simply telling his side of the storythrough his film, and good luck to him.
HATERS ARE GOING TO HATE!50 DID HIS THANG!TERRENCE DID HIS THANG!I LOVE 50 CENT!I HEARD THE PARTS OF THE MAJESTIC DUDE AND THE RAPPER, DANGEROUS WERE SUPPOSE TO BE BASED ON JARULE AND MCGRIFF!THEY TRIED TO BLOCK 50 FROM GETTING A RECORD DEAL!WHERE JARULE AT NOW?SEE GOD DON'T LIKE UGLY!!THAT'S WHY HE DON'T HAVE A CAREER NOW!JARULE IS A HAS BEEN!WHEN YOU WISH BAD ON SOMEONE ELSE AND DIG A HOLE FOR SOMEONE ELSE YOU MIGHT FALL IN!REMEMBER THAT!THAT'S WHY JARULE NEW CD, GREATEST HITS OR WHATEVER WENT WOOD OR PAPER OR SOMETHING!NOT PLATINUM!FIVE STAR MOVIE *****I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU 50!I LOVE YOUR CONFIDENCE AND YOUR WONDERFUL SMILE!!!O YEAH AND YOUR LAUGH AND THE FACT THAT YOU ALWAYS WEAR A JESUS PIECE AROUND YOUR NECK!A CROSS OR A JESUS PIECE!I NOTICED THAT!!!
I was looking forward to this movie when I heard about it, but when Isaw it I couldn't help but wonder, HAS 50 CENT LOST HIS MIND? There isno way this movie was gonna work, i was actually hoping it would begood cause it was directed by Jim Sheridan. But what does an Irish manknow what goes on in the hood, I am Irish myself, and could've madethis work better, and I am lazier than Homer Simpson for crying outloud. Still, some parts are worth watching like the scene where 50 goesup to the Colombian and shoots him, and doesn't finish the job. Themovie is really boring throughout, and 50 is not good at hisperformance until later on in the movie. He even managed to cry! Themusic, on the other hand is decent enough not 50 Cent's best work, butstill good. But that said, if 50 attempts to act again, let's hope he'sin a movie that won't be a complete failure.
This film is a must see for any1 who likes hip hop. Any1 who does notlike this movie or gives it negative reviews in anyway are only doingthis because they hate 50 cent in general or they r not into hip hop ,rap. In this case don't write the film off these ppl don't knowanything!! 5O's acting was great at acting out events he had livedthrough! who else better to portray how it feels to be shot, not manyppl have experienced this. As for saying his acting is bad don't tryand pull that out. He actually got shot through the jaw so as forsounding like he is reading from a script rubbish. He shows emotion, heeven cries in the film!! Great story, well put together, good acting, always kept interested. This movie shows there is a chance for a betterlife from that of drugs and crime if u just go and catch it. So thisshould inspire ppl and is a great message about following ur dreams. All this and more from great director working well with main actors totell a true story with Hollywood twists. As said 75% was exactly wotand how it happened in his real life the other 25% keeps usinterested!! Definitely worth the watch to any1 that is cool, likesgood music and is interested in the price of fame. 9/10 . U get to seeand feel the real 50 cent for the first time .Must not miss out!!!!!
Everybody that came on this site and gave a very negative comment aboutthis movie and about 50 cents acting, just missed the entire point. What i got is confirmation in a sense that 50 means what he says andsays what he means. First off, the story and the real events aredifferent and second the message is that the hood should never beidolized. People like Supreme should never be considered by the youngkids in the ghetto, projects whatever...50 cent said this on a song. "Different day, same stuff Ain't nothinggood in the hood I run away from this bitch And never come back if Icould"I believe he didn't want to make a movie that in anyway glorified thebad guys from the neighborhood etc........ Trust me, you don't get it. It was a movie to tell the story, nothing more. Im glad it wasn'tjazzed up with memorable gangster scenes etc...50 cent, keep doing it! #$*()$@# them all, take no prisoners Curtis! Thanks for giving me a path I overlooked. Seriously.J
First of all, I am a huge 50cent fan, and despite my bias for him, Ithought the movie deserved a lot more praise than it has received(especially from the users of this website). It takes a lot of talentto portray yourself in a biography, especially when such a movie isyour first gig as an actor. I found it rude and disrespectful as I readthe comments on how "awful" the Get Rich or Die Trin movie was.Although I respect everyone's right to opinion, I have to justify thecontent of the movie. To begin with, the film was LOOSELY based onCurtis "50 cent" Jackson's life, which means just that: not everythingwas to be taken literally as to what the artist has done in his life. Also, it was rated "R"/"18+" so I assume the ratings committee thoughtthat the viewers would be mature enough to watch the content within theproduction. Furthermore, the message of the movie was not to suggestthat everyone should deal drugs in order to make it in the musicindustry; it was a semi-true story of Curtis' struggle to SURVIVE as ayouth without a solid parental figure to guide him.
This film is very very good...It's unbelievable what b*ll*cks haters will write: don't be fooled bythe rating above, check out the rating breakdown and you'll see thatall the ratings have either been 10 or 1. The genuine reviews havegiven all 10s, whereas these haters have been trying to bring down theaverage...Hate it or love it, this film is definitely better than your averagerecent blockbuster with poor narratives. This movie would have bigger chart success if they had released it tothe UK market at the same time, as it happens, the Americans aredelaying its distribution to here by up to 4 months!- 50 is a legend -
its not as bad as people say it is, don't get me wrong it isn't amazingit could be better but it absolutely does not deserve a 1. 50cent hasdone a lot in this film that most rapper actors wouldn't do. likecrying, a sex scene and a shower scene. you can tell he really triedhis best on this film and i feel that he has managed to pull it off. ithink the reason most people who say they don't like this film just sayit because they don't like 50 as a person most people are jellosbecause he came up so fast. but you can like it or hate the fact 50 hasshone some real talent on the big screen. but like i said before thisisn't the best movie of all time there are a few bits that could bemade a lot better, like the ending for 1 and another bill duke justsounds like hes trying to do an impression of the god farther and heant pulling it of well.
this film is the best film ever....... i don't get y every one isdissing 50 cent i admire him and me n my mate think this film isawesome.... if u like 50 cent guns and swearing this is your film.....but that is my opinion so people can have their opinions but one thingfor you all 50 cent is the best and nothing can change that.... me andmy mate cried when 50 cent died.....yeah that may sound stupid but heyi don't care wot ne1 thinks bout me!!! if it was my choice 50 centwould be in every film, magazine/newspapers. my room is filled with 50cent, bow-wow, eminem and chamillionaire posters so for all you peoplewho don't like 50 cent you lot haven't lived.....xx-gangsta-xx
What could the main reason be, that this movie suck? Could it be theridiculous script, that is so bad that it looks like a bunch ofthirteen year old have written it, which you think because of thescenes who are supposed to be dramatic seems to be forced to be in themovie while they don't fit in, and other crap which are in the movie?Or could it be the dialogs, that are more cleared of intelligence thana regular Chuck Norris movie? Maybe it is the brain dead action, thatare in some scenes, and which is even more unnecessary than the plainstupid romance? Oh right, it must be the (stupid) romance that makesthis movie suck! No wait, even though the romance is unrealistic, unbelievable and non-dramatic, it cant be the reason for this moviebeing so bad.Now I've got it. The main reason, for Get Rich Or Die Trying' being sobad, is blamed on one single person. And the poor devil who will haveto carry that burden is the main person in this movie, a person whoshould he have sticked to his music 'cos he cant act... Ladies andGentlemen, I present to you, the one person who almost all by himselfcaused the badness of this movie; Mr. 50 Cent! He cant act. That is afact (wohoo, I rhymed without realizing it first). When he tries to bedramatic, he is more strained than Dolph Lundgren when he is trying todo the same. His attempts to be romantic are as laughable as the entireHouse of the Dead-movie. When he tries to say something sweet, tenderand dramatic in a pretty low tune, he sounds more like a sodomizedwookie than a romancer. He tries to be a cool gangster street robberdrug dealer, something like CJ in the game GTA: San Andreas, and hefails, of course. I bet even Bill Gates could be more trustworthy as agang-member than 50 Cent was in this movie. His attempts to be hisfriends "homie" are so laughable that I rolled on floor laughing when Isaw it. I almost couldn't breath afterwords. And it doesn't help thathis character has stupid dialogs, have to make stupid things and getsinvolved with stupid happenings. *****SPOILER*****For example, thescene in the shower in the prison made me puke*****SPOILER'S OUT*****.Okay, a big part of this commentary has only been compliments about 50Cent. And, believe me, he ain't the only bad thing in this movie. Inthe beginning of the commentary, I complained about almost everything, dialog, script, scenes and more. And believe me, all that sucks! Thismovie may be the worst one I've ever seen. It simply sucks. This moviehad premiere in my home country, Sweden, long after it had premiere inall the other countries. At the same time it had premiere here, it fellout of the bottom 100. For that, I am ashamed of my country.
this movie is one of the best of 2005.di*kbag Ow my bad dimebag
OK lol Lets Get Down To It About Rap Its Not Really Music Its Lazy ItLacks To Follow Up In The Music Industry.Rap Is A Music Genre Its HatedBy Most People. That Believe That Stereo Type That Only Blacks Make RapAnd Its Always About Shotting Cops People Money Drugs & Sex Which LeadsTo Another Stereo Type That Says All Blacks Like Rap Which Not AllBlacks Do Its Poisoning Everybodys Mind The Crime Rate Is Way Up ThereI Admit Some Of Its OK I Guess Like Eminem ICP.50 Cent Has No TalentWhat So Ever Neither Does 2Pac Or Biggie They Got Shot And They SurlyDeserved It.Rappers Gangsters & People Like That Need A Good Slap OnThe Rist They Need To Learn How To Play Nice. That Music Is Just ADallusion A False Belief.Rap Is Primitive Its Negative. Its BadInfluence On Children.Like If I Ever had Kids They Would Not BeListening To That Garbage Or The Movies. And I Know Im Right About This.
I don't believe that this movie is meant to represent Black Men, it ismeant to represent Curtis Jackson, and his life. I'm sure he wasn'tthinking about every other black man when the movie was made about hislife. The reason I am giving it an 8 is the accuracy on how the filmreflects his life. It was meant to show his struggle and how he cameup. It was real and if anything it made me appreciate his music evenmore. People who are judging him and his movie are the same people whojudged him before they saw the movie. They are 50 haters and will hateno matter what that man does. The movie was well writtin and whoeversaw the movie and was offended by the violence and the way 50 came upshould not have watched it, because the movie was everything it wassupposed to be. A lot of people have hard lives but do not have themoney or the fame to get it together. The man executed that movie andhis music through his struggles. Anyone that has a true appreciationfor Gangster movies and music should agree that this man told his storyand proved his point as to why he's as successful it is. My advice isif your a 50 "hater" or you hate the truth of the streets then don'twatch the movie. And for the people judging the movie are reallyjudging the life that he was dealt. Don't make it about a gang thing ora black thing. It's not about you. If it was about you, you'd begetting paid. Now tell the truth, the man executed his life story andit was good enough to make the big screen. If only I could get paid formy story....
We've seen this over and over again. This would have been great in1985. This is beyond garbage. Thank God I saw this on bootleg.I agree with this comment: 50 Cent should fake his death after this 2hour embarrassment. It is 100% pile of steamy crap with corn and flies. The script was ifit was written by someone in the third grade. The acting was deafeningly stale. The scene with the knifefight in thesteamy shower slipping on soap was worthy of being left on the cuttingroom floor. It went on and on and on.Boring and more boring and wait! Even more boring still.I am embarrassed for rap music after seeing this.I want my DMC and Public Enemy.
More like 3.5 to 4 stars...Frankly I did not expect much from the movie, but when I went to see it in the theaters...I was suprised!! I read the critical reviews and saw that even Roger Ebert gave it is thumbs up. The movie is NOT Crash or Hustle & Flow, then then again it is not a John Singleton or Paul Haggis joint either.50-cent is not an A-grade actor, but then who really expected him to be such. Apparantly the idiots who are bashing the film merely because they do not like RAP. If you hate RAP music, then why in the hell are you watching a RAPPER's film about his rise to riches in the RAP industry after breaking out of his hustlin' drug-filled post-teen years!! I mean D**m!!I teach high school, and watched the film based on student's input...(I feel the need to keep in touch with the younger generation, YES). I can see how this might motivate a few of my "thugs" into reality. Yes, they idolize 50 (some hate him...snitch), but overall, the movie showed a positive moral message about WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. If you work hard at something positive, you gain something. If you work hard at doing something bad and illegal (easy cash), then you get what's coming to you...a quick DEATH.I plan on buying the movie when it is released on DVD. I would put it right up there in league with "Paid in Full." Another movie that in which a rapper (Cam'Ron) plays a lead roll.
This review is from: Get Rich Or Die Tryin' (Full Screen Edition) (DVD) When I purchased this DVD it was used and I was a little skeptical but after having recieved it and watched the movie I am very pleased at the picture quality and how it was packaged when I recieved it.
