i can't say i really understood this movie but i was gripped. i'd drunk8 apertiphs before watching and fancied something heavy and wot heavierthan Justin Lin i thought. i've read all the reviews of this movie onIMDb and they tell me it's a comedy. i didn't laugh once but Justin Linreally is way above my head in every way, so u may see the comedy thati missed out on. i also read u need to see this movie 2 or 3 times toget it. i think this movie was just too complex for my little brain buti still loved it. Justin Lin's 'Fast Fives' is one of my favourite everfilms so i will always be open to a Justin Lin film. i will watch thisfilm again because i really think there is something special going on.i shouldn't have drunk 8 apertiphs before watching this complex workbut like i said, i still enjoyed it which i think says something aboutJustin Lin.Dr Monsieur Poopoo, University of Paris Laarbeeklaan 103, B - 1090Walloon Region
Fast FiveWhen street racing in Rio it's important to obey the custom of pimpingyour car out in a thong. But since the street racers in this action movie are criminals, it'snot surprising that they don't follow the rules. After they free Dom (Vin Diesel) from custody, Mia (Jordana Brewster)and Brian (Paul Walker) flee to Rio, where they get involved in a carheist that finds a dead cop on their hands and a drug czars' data intheir possession.Privy to the location of the kingpin's cache, Dom and someacquaintances (Tyrese Gibson, Ludicrous) decide to appropriate it.Meanwhile, US agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) is hot on their trail. The fifth installment in the franchise, Fast Five is a refreshingdeparture, where street racing takes a backseat to crazy chases and amemorable performance from The Rock.Incidentally, Rio's Christ the Redeemer statue makes an excellent flaggirl. (Green Light)
This is not my typical choice of a movie but I went with a buddy andwas not disappointed. It's action packed with a reasonably crediblestory line. I did find myself thinking that all the dialog scenesseemed so serious, like; "I'm going to the bathroom, who's in?" cut toother person "Let's do it". or "I'm going to have fish forlunch"...."go for it". But, that is the nature of a movie that istrying to pack a lot into one movie. Also, I liked how they didn'texplain everything - instead of my thinking "how did they do that?" itwas just done. This movie is definitely fast and fun. And I would thinkseeing it in the theater is ideal
WOW!!!!This is my first review but I just couldn't resist throwing abig shout out to this movie. I am a 53 year old woman and I took my 30and 14 year old daughters and we were all on the edge of our seats for2:10. We had already fallen guiltily in love with parts 1 and 2 oninstant watch Netflix, skipped 3, and have 4 on order. This sequel hadjust the right amount of action mixed with better plot and definitelymore character development and emotional bonding than the other entriesin the franchise. All characters are brought together and the additionof the Rock just amps up the sweat and muscles. The bookend actionscenes are jaw dropping and though I started the series in love withPaul Walker, Vin Diesel is now my first love. The dialog is stillcheesy and there is still plenty of macho posing and women in scantygarb but it's what we expect from this series. The best part is thatthis movie can be watched by the entire family and that is rare thesedays with all the profanity, blood, and sex. I only remember maybe 5curse words in the entire movie, and although there was a lot ofgunfire the blood was kept to a minimum. We went to a 5:30 pm showingin a large theatre and it was almost sold out with a long line waitingfor the next showing when we left. I looked around and noted all agegroups, including families with small children. Be sure to stay afterthe credits!!
The Fast and Furious Franchise always gave a fun time that's full ofRush, From the Very First movie to this, it's always fun to watch andyou will always have fun if your a classic fan of the franchise, Nowthose who criticize this movie can do it all you want, i mean yes it'sdefinitely not The Godfather! and you certainly wont expect anything ofthat magnitude in this movie, but than again this movie is all abouthaving a good time and checking out fast car's and hot babe's. That'show it's always been and always will be, People Will be satisfied withthis movie because it delivers what you expect and more. The Classicchase and thrill's and to add up the excitement there are some extramaterials that i won't give away, so if you are fan of rush andexcitement and just wanna have a good time , this is the movie for you.
When I heard that a fifth film in the Fast And Furious franchise wasgetting made,I have to admit that my original feeling was one of mildinterest at most. This is because I felt that when the third film in theseries came out (Tokyo Drift) it seemed that the film makers had takenmost of the energy out of the series, which made the film feel a lotless exciting than its predecessors.Whilst the fourth film gave theseries a slight return to form,by bringing back some of the past castmembers, the performances seemed to have lost something that was therein the first film, with Vin Diesels performance losing some of thecharming cockiness that had made Dominic Toretto such a engagingcharacter. When my friend saw some clips of the film, that showed TheRock was going to have a big role in the film,he (who is also a big fanof this series) was instantly looking forward to seeing this film.Andfor my self,I felt that since this was Rocks first "big budget"non-Disney film in a long time, and that it seemed from some of theclips I had seen that, the cast and crew had found their passion againfor the series. This got me to start thinking the this was a film thatcould really surprise me...plot: Arriving to Rio De Janeiro to meet up again with street-racerDominic Toretto, who they have recently help escape from jail,BrianO'Conner and Dominics sister Mia are surprised to find that he is nowhere to be seen. When they visit one of there's (and Dominics) mutualfriends (Vince),they are surprised to discover that Vince needs them tohelp him with a planned robbery of a very valuable car, that is beingtransported in a highly secure train. As the team start to ambush thetrain,Dominc makes a surprise arrival, and starts to help the others toliterally rip a carriage of the train into two!.When the gang get on tothe remaining parts of the train, they are shocked that along with thebig amount of thugs that are trying to keep the car secure, there arealso a good number of "off-duty" DEA agents there as well.Realiseingthat time is running out,Vince tells the gang that they have to onlysteal one of the cars.Whilst the gang try to get away, three of the DEAagents are killed in the cross-fire between the thugs and Dominicsgang. After having spilt up and seeming to be safe,Dominic and O'Connerare suddenly captured by the most powerful boss in the De Janeirounderworld (Hernan Reyes) who questions them for hours about where theyhave hidden the car,When they both at last escape from Reyeshideout, they go to meet up with Mia,whose been keeping the car hiddenin a safe house. To an extremely angry Dominic,Vince gives everyone theshock announcement that he knew that Reyes would do everything he canto kill each member of the gang,so that he could get hold of the caragain.Vince also tells them that Hernan does not want the caritself, but what is hidden inside it (a computer chip, which has all thedetails of Reyes money-laundering safe houses, which he partly uses tokeep the police in his control)Hearing this,Dominic tells Vince that hecan not be trusted and that he must leave the gang.Vince reluctantlydoes,as Dominic and everyone else start to get there old friends tojoin them,so that they can do a huge heist,by taking every penny ofReyes dirty money. But with Hernans money now being kept safe at themain police station ,and a DSS federal agent (Luke Hobbs) now searchingfor them, due to all of them being framed for the murders of theagents, this heist is going to be far from easy...View on film: For the screenplay, writer Chris Morgan brilliantlychanges the format of the series,by having the cops 'n' robbersstoryline that has been the main plot (s) of the series, instead becomea fun secondary story, with the main plot line instead being about ahuge heist.Morgans brilliant script keeps the film moving at afantastic pace, with the clever introduction of (all the main)characters from the last four films being woven together into a teamthat any viewers of the past films will be unable to not let a big gringo across their face,Morgan also smartly makes it that each member ofthe team plays a vital part in the mission going successfully. Whilsthe may have reallied on CGI effects a bit too much the last fewtimes, director Justin Lin brings the film back to it roots with aBANG.Although some of the things that are used for the heist (such asthe pulling cables) seem to have come straight out of Chris Morgansscript for Wanted,Lin makes the amazing action scenes extremelygripping by having the epic heist chase feel very rough and raw, withthe beautiful Brazil location being completely destroyed intodust!.Although he sadly delivers his last few lines (which I hope arethere to show that he will be returning for the next films)in a morejoking manner, when the character really needed to show some realaggression,Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is still able to give his bestperformance that I have seen from him in years, with Johnson making youreyes transfix on the screen,as he shows an unforgettable amount ofcharisma, that turned him into an icon in his previous job as, LukeHobbs tears everything (and everyone) apart so that he can get closerto finding out about what is really happening in Rio.Along with havingone of the best on screen fights of the year with Johnson,Vin Dieselgives a fantastic, real return-to-form performance as Dominic.Dieselshows that even though Dominic is older,he is still able to keep hisquick-witted ideas and fearlessness burning, when everyone else has runout of fuel, although Diesel also smartly shows that Dominic is moreopen to listening to other peoples plans and compromising, than he everwas before.
It was an entertaining movie and I'd watch it again, because of the action. I found the dialog to be a bit corny and some of the behavior unnecessary (you found the hideout and they're on satellite. Is it necessary to be fly'n thru the streets and bouncing around in your armored cars to get to their location?)
Paul Walker and Vin Deisel are back for yet another Fast and thefurious film, Fast Five. Fast Five, in my opinion, will only appeal tothose who love the series, and rednecks who love cars. Recently, I'vebeen noticing a pattern in action films: After a while, the actionsequences drag on for so long that you lose track of the plot. In Fastfive, I was lost within 15 minutes, and the rest of the way.So, this is what I got out of the plot: Vince and Mia(Paul Walker andJordanna Brewster) have to break Dom(Vin Deisel) out of jail. I forgotwhy he was in there because the last film was a blur. Once thathappens, they stay in Rio and there's something to do with a heist anda ton of other stuff.I've seen four of these films, and would say that this one is one ofthe better ones. Director Justin Lin is talented with the actionsequences, I just wish that he could go deeper into the plot. There area lot of characters, such as a sympathetic cop and some politicianvillain or something, I don't know.Dwayne Johnson(I still call him The Rock but whatever, he's bigger thanthat now I guess) gives a dreadful performance as one of the cops ontheir tail. I have known for a long time about how bad of an actor heis, and he proves it here. So, I didn't exactly like it, but that doesn't mean you won't. I'm surethat the film will appear to others, but i'm different from everyoneelse. I like a little story to follow, I like mind benders that explainthemselves. Not a car movie that goes too fast.C+
This review is from: Fast Five (DVD) My husband and I both liked it. Pretty good movie with lots of action. I got it for a good price on Amazon.
This review is from: Fast Five (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy in Blu-ray Packaging) (Blu-ray) Well what can I say??....excellent!!5 Start for this movie.A good convination to make the best movie in this time .
This review is from: Fast Five (DVD) Remember back in the day when you were all wistful for Stallone and Schwarzenegger to be in the same movie or, on a subservient level, for Seagal and Van Damme to do something together? FAST FIVE is the best - and biggest - in the Fast & the Furious franchise for any number of reasons, but a big chunk of the hells yeah! stems from the Rock stepping into the series. You knew, you just knew, he and Vin Diesel would be champing at the bit to claim head chair in the pecking order. Adrenalin junkies are accordingly put on alert.FAST FIVE opens by replaying the closing sequence of the previous (and fourth) installment, with Dom Toretto's (Vin Diesel) being sprung during his transit to penitentiary. This prison - or, more accurately, prison bus - break is masterminded by former cop Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) who has now irrevocably crossed that line. This marks the first time that Walker and Diesel's characters are working on the same side for the entire length of the film. And yet that streak of competitiveness is still there. O'Conner is still earnestly obsessed with proving that he's the superior wheel man. Dom continues to humor him, probably trying not to smirk.Awesomely, FAST FIVE reunites the core cast of the previous four flicks, and I soaked in the cool factor of seeing Tyrese Gibson, Luda, Sung Kang, Don Omar, and Tego Calderon rub elbows with Diesel and Walker. Now fugitives from justice and finding stateside too hot for comfort, Dom, O'Conner, and Mia (Jordana Brewster) have fled to parts unknown. But when a daring Brazilian train caper goes south and ends up with Dom and O'Conner accused of murdering three DEA agents, in comes a relentless U.S. strike force ramrodded by the determined and growly Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson). And right away you can feel the ferocity the Rock brings to his role. Oooh, I was anticipating the inevitable butting of heads. But that's just one of the story threads. The central one concerns our likable rogues' planning and orchestrating of one final huge score. Dom and O'Conner have aimed with ambition and with brazenness, targeting the primo drug kingpin in Rio de Janeiro. Except that this Big Bad is one careful, meticulous sumbitch, his stash of $100 million cached in ten holdings spread throughout the city and guarded by an army of corrupt cops on his payroll. The trick is how do you get to all ten stashes without ruining that element of surprise? It's pretty clever how Dom gets around this complication.FAST FIVE does present several good character moments which ground our cast, sort of. I say "sort of" because, honestly, this franchise's enduring global popularity is built around high-octane, wildly improbable, tremendously entertaining action sequences (oh, and hot cars and hot chicks in skimpy clothing). But the franchise's stabs at a richer emotional tonality allow the viewer to accept the film's more absurd stunts or at least view them with a more expansive eye. We're treated to three audacious action set pieces (the epic train heist, the chase across the rooftops of a Brazilian slum, the runaway bank vault). We see the brutal, no-holds-barred Rock vs. Diesel fighty fight. We note the film's scorn of the laws of physics. It pays never mind to the logistics involving our heroes surviving a two-hundred-feet plunge into the drink or two cars hauling a bank vault while engaged in a car chase with a troop of police cars. It scoffs at the impossibility of fingerprints being lifted from a bikini. Except that these flaws don't bug me. I only point them out to demonstrate that I'm no wide-eyed daisy. I'm aware of the implausibilities, the ridiculousness of the stuff that goes down, as is director Justin Lin, if you listen to his audio commmentary. This film ain't for nitpickers; it'll be like target practice for them. For my money, FAST FIVE delivers enough solid character interactions, but, no, this isn't a Merchant Ivory production. Instead, it's all about the larger-than-life characters and their dangerous attitudes and it's about the stupendous wall-to-wall action. It's sheer escapism. And, also, maybe you should stick around for the closing credits. The DVD's bonus stuff: Director' Justin Lin's Audio Commentary; 2 Deleted Scenes (totaling 00:01:39 minutes); Gag Reel (00:04:17 minutes) and three featurettes focusing, respectively, on Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne Johnson and their character arcs: "Dom's Journey" (00:04:53 minutes long); "Brian O'Conner: From Fed to Con" (00:05:53); and "Enter Federal Agent Hobbs" (00:05:47).
Alot of people don't get that this is a prequel...before Han even settled down in Tokyo and set up his shop...Dominic showed up at the end of Tokyo Drift and that confuses people...think of this as Episode one with Darth Maul in the Stars Wars Saga...the details of that story happened before Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi..Vin Diesel decided to do XXX and Chronicles of Riddick instead of 2 Fast 2 Furious....then Paul Walker decided that he was too good to do the third movie...so they introduced new characters but actually the Han character appears in the director Justin Lin's movie "Better Luck Tomorrow", a little known indie movie about a group of Asian thugs who corrupt a college bound kid....as far as cars, you got the GT-R, GT40, Corvette Gran Sport, the Charger, Porsche GT3 RS, Nissan 370Z, and even a 72 Skyline....the cast has grown up, so no more gaudy vinyl stickers, wild paint jobs, or BS...more of action movie with car related stunts than a car movie with some action.....I can't wait to see what the next movie brings...it looks like they will be in Europe.
I saw fast five a week ago and I was wondering what it would be likebecause I hadn't seen the four films before it. It was an awesomemovie. This movie is set in Rio and the main characters are pulling off aheist. That's about all of the plot I'll give away but I will say thereis an awesome seen in the movie where Vin Diesel's character (DominickToretto) has an epic fight scene with Dwayne Johnson's character(Detective Dobbs).I really recommend this movie to everyone.I would give this movie a 7-7.5/10. I liked the movie, it had action,it had some pretty girls, it had some mad actors, it had some carracing(only a scene or two) and it had a bank heist, what else wouldyou want from a movie? Highly Recommended 7-7.5/10.
Fast Five it was, it had you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end where the 2 1/2 hours seemed like minutes. The stunts and driving were just jaw-dropping, the series is still going strong and getting more exciting.
The trailer gave me an adrenalin rush and my curiosity was more peakedcomparing to the previous movies. But if you think this is a movie withraces, you're wrong. This is a heist movie. But that isn't a bad thing, on the contrary! This franchise could use a fresh start and the big difference was thatthey toned down showing off fast cars and beautiful women, Fast Five ismore character driven and brings back a lot of characters from previousmovies, included a nice surprise at the end.My guess is we're probably gonna see more familiar faces in part 6, butwe will have to wait for that. We also got new faces, in the form ofDwayne Johnson. It's a nice addition to see how he's determined toarrest the main characters and that the main characters are deep introuble with several parties hunting them. Also different is that there isn't a single race in this one, but ithas a lot of action and even subtle humor we haven't seen in theprevious installments.Action fans, just go see it when you can!
This movie has some characters from every previous Fast n Furious! And introduces a few new characters. Think past plots only dialed up. Think the "Great Bank Robbery" with more heart and FAST DRIVING! Oh and finally I have seen a movie with a chase scene that actually TOPS the greatest chase ever. Yes the classic, "BULLIT"! Ok ok, it's at least AS good as the great BULLIT chase... DON'T RENT THIS MOVIE! NOT untill you have seen it in the theater! Yes... It's a THEATER going movie and bring your girlfriend. As with all Fast movies women love them too. I won't go into any plot development at all because I don't want to accidentally cause spoilers. Just SEE THE MOVIE and stay for the credits as someone mentioned before. It's worth the money you pay and worth the stay. Read any of my past reviews people, I never steer ya wrong!
This review is from: Fast Five (DVD) This product is amazing!!! My daughters and my son love it.they see it over and over again and they also see the behind the scenes!! This product has very good quality ! We all love it!!!
The producers / distributors / makers (call them what you may) behindthis movie have decided to transition The Fast And The Furious Seriesof movies from a street racing franchise into an action / heist onewith car chases at its helm instead of the notorious street races thatgoverned most of the previous movies. Had I not watched any of the pastmovies, I would have certainly welcomed this move. But after seeing allfour of them (in anticipation of this one), I believe that leaving outstreet racing from this movie was not a pretty good idea - there's justone race in this movie and that too, is a friendly sort of no stakesrace. Although I can understand the studio's motives behind doing so,The Fast And The Furious series of films deserve at the least one raceper film.Anyways, enough of the complaining already. Coming to the point, whichis Fast Five, the movie is surely fast and equally furious. The fourthmovie ended with Paul and Mia attempting to bust out Dom from prisonwith an animated escape shown in the end. The fifth movie begins justat that point with a live action escape sequence replacing the animatedone at the end of the previous installment. After a job that goes awry, the trio are then on the run since they're wanted by two factions ofpeople - the crew of a businessman Reyes and the team of a DSS agentLuke Hobbs. After running around for some time, they decide to pull onelast job to buy out their freedom with fake passports and start lifeafresh. But with these two powerful men on their tails, it ain't gonnabe that easy.Fast Five is more of an action movie and so, for it to work, there hasto be action. And there is - plenty of it. Without spoiling most of itby describing it in detail, I'd say the high points of the movie arethe train job at the start that goes awry and sets up the events of themovie, the trio's escape from both teams who get to them simultaneouslyover rooftops, a fight between Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and LukeHobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and of course, the finale which is absolutemadness. And perhaps all of the sequences have been shot without anyuse of CGI which is what makes the action even all the more excitingand brings back memories of the past era of action movies where allsequences were filmed rather than digitally created. The cinematography is top notch as well. Although there are a lot ofcuts in action sequences, we still get some long continuous areal viewsof the action (long meaning lasting around 5 seconds or so) which helpsunderstanding what's going on and where it all fits into thesurroundings. This ensures you're with the action. Performances aredecent and for a mostly wooden Paul Walker reprising his role as BrianO'Connor, you have a surprisingly flexible Dwayne Johnson playing LukeHobbs - the new entry in the franchise. His character is exactly whathe told it would be in the behind the scenes featurettes - strong, efficient at nabbing criminals and a worthy antagonist to DominicToretto and his team mates. I'd definitely want him to return in thenext installment. And although this ain't a movie about characters, weget some dialogs which actually help us understand the characters alittle better giving us some insight into their lives. Nothing deeplypsychological - just a tinge of what's hidden beneath the surface.Nice.On the whole, Fast Five is solid entertainment provided you're willingto suspend your disbelief and forget the laws of physics. But then, wealways do suspend our disbelief to some extent in movies - that's whatthey're for. And none of us really does remember the laws of physics sothey're irrelevant for the most part. In which case, the movie comeshighly recommended and even more so for an action movie buff. This isthe definitive action movie of the year. And do stay for some time fora nice post credits surprise which unlike many meaningless sequences,is a critical post-credits scene that might set up the next installmentin the series.Score: 7.0 / 10
This review is from: Fast Five (Two-Disc DVD/Blu-ray Combo in DVD Packaging) (Blu-ray) I am very content with my order, it shipped incredibly fast and was in a solid and durable box for protection from being smashed in the mail. I would definitely rate my experience with this company a five star!
