...Uhhh...That's it?

When I seen that they were releasing unseen Family Guy episodes on DVD, I went out and bought it at 6 in the morning before work. I watched it that night and putting am it on Amazon right now. Its sad to say that I bought a three episode DVD for 20 bucks and it wasn't anything different, but worse, than the shows on Adult Swim. For being 'unrated' and all that jazz, nothing special. True fans will be disappointed. Its a definate renter at best. Very disappointed.... :(

Okay but Could be Better

Okay the firest part was great...the whole pool thing with Stewie rocked. After all that the whole "Stewie meeting his possible father" was just to drawn out. That could have been done alot better. It was just needed a bit more comedy but overall I was only able to give it 4 out of 5 just for that reason.Maybe I am used to the whole 30 minute shows, and also I am not a big fan of just focusing on one character like this show did, I like it being more spread out. When they did try to add others on it just messed up the flow of the story.

Wowsers!!

This movie was awesome. I like Stewie and the dog whatever his name is.Stewie goes on a quest to find his real father and finds out that hisreal father is actually himself in the feature he stays with the futureStewie and finds out what he needs to do to make the future prefect.Stewie in this movie was by far the best. He is very funny. He is crazyas well. Sometimes he just goes overboard with the Sound of Music partbut that was hilarious. Sometimes Stewie like to play around andexperiment with many things for instance alcohol and all that booze. Herather gets funny when he crashes the car and tries to explain whathappened. Also Its funny how calm someone can be when they just shotsomeone with a bazooka. Really this movie is great there is nothing anycan say something bad about it. Sometimes though Stewie goes to extremelengths and so does whatever that guy that they went on the trip with.I mean he used some extraordinary way to call the police. Stewie isvery good in this movie sometimes though he is just to hilarious likewhen he compares his ______ to someone Elyse's _______. He is ratherthe guy to do that.

Family Guy the Movie, was very funny (through some parts)

Stewie Griffen the Untold Story, to my opinion was a very good movie,BUT it wasn't great because i felt like they were just repeating thingsfrom episodes, and it made the characters boring. i also disliked thatthey kept on going through flashbacks, almost every time a charactersaid something, it was funny at first but than i felt just get on withthe Friggen movie. i also thought that putting Swearing into the moviedidn't help at all because i thought that Family Guy without swearingis funny, but Family Guy with swearing was just embarrassing, therejust wasn't any need for it. it reminded me off kids, who think itsreally cool to swear and that is what i thought what Seth Mcfarlinethought, i just felt that it made it seem immature and it kinda ruinedit for me! although i did find the movie very funny at times and ithought them making fun of other TV shows was very funny and i couldn'thave picked a better character than Stewie to make a film about. Irecommend this to any Family Guy fanatic and i would watch it again andagain until my DVD brakes!

Not what I expected

The movie was a lot tamer that I thought it would be. I was a littledisappointed with it. It was still pretty funny, but I hope the nextone will be a bit more of the "Family Guy" way. My husband was even abit disappointed with it and it doesn't take much to entertain him whenit comes to "Family GuyS". Better luck next time. Remember that thisshow is an adult show and should project that in the movies you makewith them. I hope the next movie will be a little more on the adultside instead of being on the modest suggestion side. I am still in lovewith Stewie. He reminds me of the way my kids looked at my husband whenthey were little. Quag will always amaze me with his strange pervertedways and his total concentration on Louis. Keep up the good work withthe show, but please improve the movies from now on. I know you can dobetter......I have total confidence in you.

Someday you'll all realize it...

Family Guy didn't always suck. The original run of three seasons resulted in a crude, yet sharp and very funny animated TV show. It wasn't a classic, but it was funny, and its not-so-lofty goals were achieved with energy to spare. But when it popped back on television a few years after cancellation, it was never going to work, and doesn't. The new Family Guy is a weak rip-off of the original, forcing the "obscure-but-cool" pop culture references down the audience's throat and then drawing each unfunny joke or reference (mainly to itself) out to excruciating length. It's not enough to be rude and outrageous just for the sake of it, the new Family Guy has to rub it in our faces, leaving a bad taste in the viewer's mouth. Of anything that's been produced during the New Family Guy reign, this movie is by far the worst. The episodes range from the rare B+'s to the all-too-common D's, but this movie is an easy D-, representing the worst newly-released feature-length comedy I've seen in five years. I know I'm going to get scathed by hordes of 15 and 16-year-olds who revere the show as some sort of comedic Holy Grail, but despite the promise of "unhelpful" tagging, I'll say it again for the cheap seats: this movie sucks. The movie wallows in a string of unfunny movie premiere jokes before finally gearing into a subpar plot that strings three seemingly rejected episodes of the show together into something about as unimpressive as that sounds. Everything feels like it got sent to the animation house during the script's first draft, much like any given episode of the new show. Yes, there are a handful of amusing jokes -- but I laughed about as much as I would watching any one episode of original Family Guy. Considering the film is three times as long and crammed wall-to-wall with gags, this is not a particularly flattering ratio. The movie also throws in some truly gratuitous musical numbers as well, which the show itself would go on to do with alarming frequency.I know it's not a popular opinion, but it's true -- it just ain't the same. When it comes to comedy, while hilarity is subjective, laziness is not, and this movie is lazy. Whether or not you laugh (and, I reiterate, I didn't), the effort put forth by the filmmakers is very weak, and I fully expect that within a few years, once the hype over the show's return has died down and people are actually trying to rewatch and love the new episodes they thought were great in the way they rewatched and loved the old episodes, they'll find there's a lot less meat on the bones than meets the eye.

Funny, but short on plot

As a huge fan of Simpsons, I ventured off into the Realm of Family Guywhen I bought this movie today at Best Buy. I had high expectations forthis show with all the praise for the show. After I watched the show, Ifind it a bit offensive, funny, but seriously lacking in plot. What disturbed me about the show was the use of language. The languageis quite offensive at times, and I found the Gandhi reference funny, but disturbing at the same time. This movie also lacks a strong centralcharacter, unlike the Simpsons, where Homer is so funny! I'm the typeof person who likes humor more in the Simpsons flair. Some of the jokesin this movie was funny, but I enjoy the classic and hilarious anticsof Homer Simpsons more.In conclusion, people should at least rent it from blockbusters or thelibrary if they want to see it. I was glad I saw it, because I sensedwhy people thought Family Guy is funny. However, I strongly recommendthe Simpsons more than Family Guy.

2-3 Rubbish Episodes glued together

This really isn't very good. It feels like a bunch of rubbish episodesglued together.I'm a huge fan of the series and was really hoping for something good.It just doesn't translate very well to a 90 minute film. In fact Isuspect that these are two episodes that weren't good enough for theseries and so have been forced into the movie with a bit of filler toturn it into a film. Everyone I know that's seen it has found it verydisappointing.I don't imagine I'll disuade any fan from watching it but I reallyrecommend renting it instead of buying it. Just pretend it didn'thappen and carry on watching the series. It's much better.

Seth MacFarlane takes a leaf from the Simpsons' ...

... and demonstrates, with gusto, that he has run out of funnymaterial. Seasons 1-3 were truly some of the funniest, wittiest, mostoriginal, hilarious episodes of anything I have ever seen. Season 4, onthe other hand, has to either parody itself or hock the integrity ofthe previously well developed characters of the Family Guy world. This'film' is little different with many repeat jokes, less funny this timearound, flashbacks that just aren't funny (unlike seasons 1-3 which arein general fantastic), and well, not a lot else - which is a big partof the problem. Another annoyance is the fact that Stewie, who haddeveloped from his maniacal Lois killing roots to a more mature thespwith a razor sharp wit in Season 3, is now merely dull.Whilst I must now accept that season 3 is as good as it'll ever get, there is at least a silver lining: Family Guy is dead. Long liveAmerican Dad.

Dissapointed

I had very high expectations for this movie. I wasn't expecting anything all too great or bad ...just a fun, well made flick like South Park. As I watched this movie, from the start I was pretty dissapointed. There were some funny scenes but overall the dialogue was poor and it seemed like the plot was just getting dragged till the end. It didn't seem like there was much effort put into making this movie even though it has been the hot topic with the show for many months now. All in all, I had just as much fun with this movie as any other regular Family Guy episode but you can't help but think that MacFarlane and crew lost an opportunity for something special.

2012-05-14 09:41:04

'Stewie' is nothing special

I recently purchased Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story, and after watching it, I was quite dissapointed. Basically all you see is a long, drawn out, 'there's been funnier' episode of the TV show. I had high expectations for 'Stewie.' Given that creator Seth MacFarlane now has a larger time frame, and possibilities that aren't available on network television, he seems to have fallen short on what he could have done.

giggitykirk 2012-05-14 00:51:12

No disappointment

This movie nurtured all of my "Family Guy" needs. I laughed frombeginning to end, and mostly in the middle. This movie, like the TVshow, pushed the envelope with it's quick wit humor, and controversialone liners. Seth MacFarlane has made this show what it is by takingshots at anyone at any given time. Similar to "Beavis & Butthead: Do America," and "South Park: Bigger,Longer, and Uncut,"; "Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story" made me realizewhy I watched the TV shows in the first place. If you like the "Family Guy" TV series, you will not be disappointedby, "Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story." It sticks with everything"Family Guy" is about.

Superior extension of a much-loved TV series

Following a near-death experience at a swimming pool (and a brush withthe afterlife), Stewie Griffin decides to devote more time to beingnice, especially to his friendly enemy Brian the intellectual dog. Whenit becomes clear that he's faking it, the devious toddler takes toheavy drinking to dull his true 'hateful' persona, but when this leadsto a nasty accident at the Drunken Clam, Stewie is forced to acceptthat he can't change his own nature - but could a mysterious,familiar-looking stranger three thousand miles away in San Franciscohelp the youngster come to terms with his own complex psyche? This isterrific fun for Family Guy fans, and a lot of fun for everyone else. The laughs come thick and fast, there are no dull moments, the cutawaysand in-jokes are plentiful and the one-liners, as always, arepriceless. Although there's a lot of good stuff to choose from, theBugs Bunny parody and the (extremely distasteful) Walt Disney quickieare the real standouts. In short, if you like subversive animation andintelligent adult comedy, you'll have a great time with this.Recommended.

you will laugh all night long

What started as a simple 3 pronged episode to family guy, turned out as one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. The wit and hysteria that is associated with family guy stays true to its form, you will not be able to control yourself for much of this movie. buy this immediately if you are looking for a good laugh.

I love the show, REALLY disappointed with the movie.

Let me preface this, I LOVE Family Guy. I was a fan back when it wasfirst on, and bought ALL of the box sets as soon as they came out. Ithen subjected everyone I knew to it, making fans of them all. Inshort, I love the show. The movie on the other hand was one of the mostdisappointing things I've ever bought.I blame FOX.This is my theory as to what happened; it looks as if the SethMcFarlane had started making a good movie, a final FU to FOX in lightof the show having been canceled. But then the show was picked upagain, as a result of strong DVD sales. FOX executives asked that, inlight of the show being back on, that they tone down. The script wasthen changed and the release date got pushed back. At some point theyrealized that they needed a new season and so asked that they make itinto three distinct episodes (which was what we were told would happenat the beginning of the season). Then all of a sudden they realizedthey could make more money if they released a DVD, so had Seth and crewpatch it all up again. Here is my evidence: The length of time it took to get it into any form, this was originallysupposed to be released in movie theaters last summer. The plot is severely disjointed including a useless preface andpostscript to "the movie" (within the movie) by the charactersthemselves. In the credits the three episode numbers are even listed. This was obviously meant to be three episodes. At one point a character quips "had I wanted to hear gay bashing Iwould have gone to my fathers" but the movie itself had NOhomosexuality in it, this seems to be a reference to the original plot- according to IMDb, last year when it was originally in production, the plot was that "Stewie learns that he's gay." Which would have beena much better movie, but that brings me to my last point; The movie is obviously watered down; despite it having an "uncensored"track it is actually less offensive then most of the episodes. The plotis weak and ineffectual and in the end borders on depressing. As forthe cursing, there is just as much as three regular episodes would havehad, though not bleeped out.In the end it has its moments, like any family guy episode. You willlaugh. But in the end you'll be angry, just like me. My suggestion isto just wait until the new box set is out and pass on this.

Yea ... what DO they have against Meg?

i havent seen it cuz its not released, but i had to respond to That Guy's review and say:Yea ... what DO they have against Meg?oh, iii knooow -- its that Meg is LAME. all she ever does is complain, she has no insanity, no interests but boys, no freakin TV in her character -- and thats a pretty lame character. especially for a TV show that is conscious of its TV-ness to the point of gall.hands up, who wants to see Meg die? "anyone?" i mean, she can come back, whatever, but you know."women, eh? YOU know."enjoy the fight."

If you liked the shows, you'll love this!

Like my title says. If you liked the Family Guy episodes, this DVD is for you. It is crude and brash, but well written(contrary to what a few people said here) and a lot of fun to watch.

2012-05-02 18:28:53

Really, Really funny

This was great! You'll watch this time and time again. You have great dialogue between Stewie and Brian, great thought pans (who can forget the Jew Man Group?)The plot centers around Stewie and his travel's to seek out a man he believes to be his father. Good sub-plots invoving Peter becoming a news anchor. This was honestly the funniest one I've seen since the Stewie goes to Europe with Brian episode.Buy it, rent it but view it. If you're a fan you won't be dissapointed.

I Dunno...

Let me start by saying that i am a HUGE Family Guy fan. I love it.Watch it everyday.But... I Was rather disappointed with "StewieGriffin:The Untold Story".I was really expecting a riot; a stitchfest -not what i got... I went out and bought it the day it came out on DVD,I got home and put it on right away but it didn't impress me like ithought it would. It lacked the charm that the TV show has, it just isnot the same, I liked it but about half-way through i wanted to startchannel surfing you know, got a bit tedious. It had some very funnyjokes and it made me chuckle a few times but it didn't have me institches like the show does. In summary - It was okay - 6/10 stars.

2012-04-24 13:17:27

Nothing You Haven't Seen Before...

Don't let my subject line fool you. Yes, the DVD art was right, that this "movie" has never actually been "seen" before, but damn, a lot of jokes sure seem familiar, eh?"Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story" revolves around who else, but Stewie, the youngest member of the Griffin family, and arguably, the most popular. So it would make sense that if they were to do an hour and a half "Family Guy" movie (or just a really long episode) it should star Stewie! Remember the epsiode "Road To Rhode Island?" Deja Vu! After about a half an hour of going almost nowhere, with only one funny joke ("Ew! A band-aid!"), Stewie spots a man on television who looks remarkably like himself. Assuming this man must be his father, as someone like Peter couldn't be the father of such a genius, he takes Brian out on the road with him, on a cross country trip in Quagmire's RV, to find who he thinks is his long lost father. When he finally tracks this man down, however, he discovers it is his future self. Realizing what a loser he will become, Stewie rushes to try and fix up his future life, so he won't end up a 35 year old virgin with only one testicle. Now, aside from the fact that the movie moves at a snail's pace and takes forever to get to it's point, it just isn't half as funny as the show. Not quite sure why that is. Even the new, fourth season is still funny (although not quite as good as the "Family Guy" we knew in the past), but this "movie" just doesn't live up to the show. The best thing about "Family Guy" is that, if you don't like a joke, it doesn't matter, because there's another one coming around the corner. Here, they are few and far between, and often, quite unfunny. There is a lot of recycling used in this movie, a lot of jokes that have been done long ago, it makes me think that this movie is meant to appeal to people who have yet to pick up on the show. I honestly don't think this movie was a bad concept, but they easily could have compacted it into a normal 22 minute episode (afterall, nothing really happens in the first 22 minutes of this movie). Of all the jokes, sight-gags and whatnot, I'd say there are half a dozen funny ones (love that Stork gag). I think you really have to be a hardcore "Family Guy" fan to pick this DVD up.
