Family Guy: Blue Harvest

What better way to launch Family Guys sixth season and commemorate Star Wars 30th anniversary than with this double-length Very Special Episode, a full-scale, awesomely animated spoof that recasts George Lucas saga with Family Guys galaxy of characters Chris (Seth Green) is Luke Lois (Alex Borstein) is Princess Leia Peter (Seth McFarlane) is Han Solo, but not, as expected, Jabba the Hut Brian (Seth, again) is Chewbacca Quagmire (and again, Seth) is C3PO Cleveland is R2D2 Herbert, the creepy senior pedophile, is Obi-Wan (both voiced by Mike Henry) and, of course, Stewie (Seth, already) is Darth Vader (My diapers have gone over to the dark side). Poor Meg is reduced to a cameo as the hideous reptilian creature that haunts the garbage compactor. Blue Harvest is reverently faithful to A New Hope, while engaging in typical Family Guy pop-culture references (everything from those old Grey Poupon commercials to Doctor Who, Airplane, Dirty Dancing, and Deal or No Deal) and bizarre digressions (the iconic opening crawl detours into an appreciation of a way naked Angelina Jolie in Gia). Along for the wild ride are Judd Nelson, who contributes a voice cameo as John Bender for a Breakfast Club gag, Rush Limbaugh railing against futuristic affirmative action on Tatooine talk radio, and Beverly DAngelo and Chevy Chase as the vacationing Griswolds observing the rebellion from their orbiting station wagon. A Star Wars spoof in 2007 isnt exactly uncharted territory. As Chris Griffin notes in this episodes final moments, Robot Chicken brilliantly did it months earlier (and let us not forget Mel Brooks Spaceballs from 1987 or, on second thought...). But the Force is strong with Family Guy, and who could resist the opportunity to hear the Muzak playing in a Death Star elevator?

Humor Wins

Humor WinsTelevision shows get cancelled all the time, but is it possible for atelevision show to get cancelled and come back to life even better thanit was the first time? "No way!" you may think, but it happened withthe hit T.V. series Family Guy. Family Guy is a great T.V. show becauseits use of comedy is one of a kind. Not everybody is going to like theshow, but if you are a fan you will find its political incorrectnessvery funny.Fox, who is known for its early T.V. show cancellations, cut Family Guyin 2002 after three seasons. There ended up being such a high demandfor the DVD series that Fox decided to put Family Guy back on the air, returning to television in May 2005 with its fourth season. There is noquestion that the fourth season is as funny if not funnier than theseasons before it. The show is set in the fake town of Quahog, Rhode Island and iscentered around the very dysfunctional Griffin Family. Peter, thefather figure, is the head of the household. Sometimes driven wild byher own crazy family, Lois, the mother, is the peace maker. Chris, theson, is not only slow physically but also mentally. Meg is themistreated daughter who doesn't have many friends. Stewie, the baby ofthe family, can talk but I don't believe anyone in the family canactually hear him. Occasionally consuming alcoholic beverages, Brianthe family's talking dog, rounds out the cast. Even more unique thanthe characters themselves is the style in which Family Guy is written. It's comprised of a sort of sarcastic fast paced dry humor thatrequires the viewer to not only be aware of what's happening on theshow, but also what's happening in the real world. Although the overallstory may not always be funny, the jokes and situations are witty, clever, and undoubtedly entertaining. It's amazing how the writers cancome up with crazy ideas and implement them into this irregularfamily's life. There are many pop culture references in Family Guy, anda lot of "That was like the time…" flashback moments. You can nevertell what is going to happen next. If you think you have a hunch, mostof the time you will end up undoubtedly wrong. In one episode Lois andBrian have to go find Peter out in the woods. Brian says "Don't worryLois I was the one who found George Bush after Hurricane Katrina." Thenext scene has Brian walking up to a tree house and yelling "Mr.President, are you up there?" Next it shows George Bush poking his headout of the tree house, and he says "Go away" Brian then says "Sir thereis a disaster in New Orleans that you have to deal with." FinallyGeorge Bush says "Don't make me do stuff." This is a perfect example ofthe shows political incorrectness, and it's off the wall comedy.Obviously the writers of Family Guy are not in favor of the Presidentand disagreed with the way he handled Hurricane Katrina. By usingscenes from earlier episodes during flashbacks, viewers tend to watchthe show more regularly so as not to miss out or be overcome withconfusion. One of the recurring gags in Family Guy is when they take aquick joke and overdo it almost to the point of being awkward, but indoing so it actually makes it even funnier. In the episode PatriotGames, Peter gets invited to play with the New England Patriots. Afterhe scores a touchdown, he celebrates by singing a song called"Shipoopi". As he is singing and dancing to this song the entire crowdsings along. While the cheerleaders, referees, and Peter's teammatesare the back up dancers. This goes on for a long time, and finally atthe end of the celebration Peter says to himself, "I made a touchdown".That would never happen in a real professional football game, but inFamily Guy, anything goes.Overall I think this is a great show for young and old adults. There issomething in Family Guy for everybody. Its hilarious and unpredictablehumor makes it an enjoyable show to watch. When the fourth season cameout on DVD, Star Magazine said the show was "As rude and funny as itever was!" I simply can't agree more with their blurb. As for myself, Ithink Family Guy is one of the funniest and most entertaining showsever made.

Great for fans and non-fans of the show

Rated M for Cartoon Violence and Mature ThemesFamily Guy is my second favorite television show.I have been watchingit for years and it is hilarious.Family Guy started off on FOX in 1999and ran until 2002 when it got cancelled. But after the success of DVDsales, the show was renewed and new episodes are still beingproduced.Family Guy became a very popular TV show.A lot of the humor isfrom the 1980's so most teens may not understand it but it is stillvery popular among them. This game got a 6/10 on Gamespot so I didn'tbuy it until it was $20 at EB games.I must say this game is veryunderrated.Family Guy fans, you should get this game.It has the exactsame humor as the show does and it has references to the show aswell. In terms of gameplay, this game is like an old-school game. You canplay as three characters.Brian, Peter and Stewie. There are levels inthe game and you alternate between these characters. There is astoryline for each character in the game.First you start off withStewie.Stewie must take on Bertrum and he gets into many misadventurestrying to find ad destroy him.Stewie's games are "run and gun" stylegames.Next is Brian who was wrongfully accused of impregnating Lois'sdad's dog Seabreaze(just like in an episode of the show). His games are"Stealth" games and he must escape prison and clear his name while notbeing seen by anybody. The final one is Peter.Peter's story is veryfunny but kind of stupid.A satellite dish falls on him and he wakes upin a hospital. He then thinks Mr.Belvedere(a butler from the 1980's TVshow) is out to kill him.So basically he goes on a rampage beating upparents, children, animals etc.Peter's style games are "Beat-Em Up"fighting games. The family guy game is a very fun game which is a mustfor fans of the show but people who are not fan's of the show mightenjoy it as well. 9/10

I have this game and it is brilliant

hey guys Natter45 here, I recently got this game from my mom a few daysback from tesco because it was reducely priced.I played this game through out the week and i got it completed it isgreat fun to play and do, you get to play a stewie/brian/peter in thisgame and boy they are brilliant, mainly what started the whole game offis when bertham says he is going to take his satellite dish, but thenonce you get through the first level, it causes everything to happen, stewie trys to find bertham, peter is under the impression that MrBeledere has kidnapped his family and brian trys to find the father ofseabreezes pups, it has some great things this game, like the cutawaysin the game like in the show eg. the sky hook, sexy party and the mostdisturbing thing ever cutaways, they are really great but brian is alittle let down he really should had some attack comands, or even someitems to distract people with.but all in all it is a real fun game to play, these guys should make asecond game, featuring more episodes, more players and even morecutaways, also add in a multiplayer mode toowell it will show 9 stars but more likely 9 1/2 stars in my viewBye
