This Movie Should Have Been On AFI Top 100 List

I don't think this movie made it to general release at your local movie theatres. The movie offers humor and drama with a sexual undertone. Eric Schaeffer and Amanda De Cadenet made this movie irresistible to watch and the ending sequence is excellent and well crafted. I thought Good Will Hunting was good until I saw Fall. You don't know what you are missing until you see this one. END

Loved Eric Schaeffer--where can I find out about what he is working on now? And wish I could get my hands on that soundtrack! (Any Amanda Kravatz fans out there?)

I disliked the movie.

This is a ridiculous movie. Not one thing about it rings true. Theacting is either wooden and amateurish or silly (mainly Schaeffer himself).The director/writer/star seems obsessed with portraying himself as a sexobject that beautiful women cannot resist; he had the same plot in his lasttwo movies and his failed tv series. While Woody Allen often pairs himselfwith women more attractive than himself by far, Allen makes it believable bybeing witty and smart and , thus, attractive. It is hard to find any reasonwhy women are slain by Schaeffer's celluloid characters and suspension ofreality that is required for this film snaps.In addition, Eric Schaeffer cannot write dialogue, let alone poetry (whichhe attempts in his fictitious-movie wooing). The one saving grace is thecinematography. Autumn in New York looks great here.

Beautiful tragedy, ironically realistic...

A taxi cab driver and a supermodel? Sounds like a stupid romantic comedy.But if it's titled "Fall", it can't be too funny... so it gets a view,aftera recommend. Boy, did I get more than I bargained for.Viewing 'Lolita' for the first time was a tragic experience for me. Ineverthought I'd see anything take me down harder. 'Fall' broke every bone inmybody when it threw me down.A taxi cab driver and a supermodel? Completely unrealistic. Yet, thisfilmcame across as VERY convincing. We know this relationship can't and won'twork, but that doesn't keep two people from becoming madly in love witheachother.This film has THE BEST script of any movie to date. The performances wereperfect. I felt like I was just watching two people who were truly inlove.If you can handle the steep decline of 'Fall', then you simply can't missthis one.10/10

Eric Schaeffer is right on! He brings the entire impact of this generation's "rock my world" experiences in love, sex, and intellectualism to the screen for those of us who have been there or want to get there. An absolute must see - it will take your mind and heart on a fantastically sexy ride!

Fall in to something Amazing

Like a previous reviewer it was one late night when i couldn't call fall asleep and i was flipping through the channels and this came up. Throughout it i was most througly impresse. It was an amazing screenplay and both peroformances were astounding with fabolous chemistry between the two. I only hope i can find this film soon!!!

Great Romance

From the first moment that my boyfriend brought this over for me to watch, I fell in love with FALL. Eric Schaeffer is so charismatic and it's easy to see why she fell for him. His poetry was so touching. Their longing for eachother when they are far away and the excitement when they are together remind us all of what first love can be like. Now that I have the DVD to replace the VHS that was on it's last leg, I know it will be watched over and over again.

not bad, could have been better

it's not the fact that the premise is unbelievable, or the semi-awkwardacting by the 2 leads...I don't know. Everything was just a little off.Watching this for the 2nd time made me realize how close they came tomaking a really good movie. Ignore the artsy-fartsy elements, and youbasically have your standard man falls for unattainable girl- girlfalls for man- man and woman can never be together premise. I get thefeeling that the movie was rushed and could have been so much better ifmore time and care had been taken. I give it a 5, but should have beenmore. I slap my head with frustration knowing that I shouldn't like it,but to an extent i sorta enjoyed it and have since sought out otherfilms by Eric Schaeffer, which are much better.

heartbreakingly well crafted

I don't really understand why this film hasn't done better--either on thissite, with the public, or in the theatres. I've never seen Eric Shaeffer'sstudio films, but this indie was obviously made by someone with totalartistic control over the piece, and it's all the better for it. Shaefferavoids the usual traps of a writer/director/star--he's got talent in eachofthese areas, and isn't simply on an ego trip.It's a great film for anyone who likes to see a curiously mismatched,strangely well-matched couple meet each other on-screen. I wouldn't call ita romantic comedy, but I would call it extremely romantic (without beingsentimental) and funny (in a nice, dry way).The connection and chemistry between Shaeffer and his co-star is evidentfrom the first. I found the writing crisp, the storyline well planned andnot predictable, and the character development deft. Among its many strongpoints is the perfect pacing of the piece, and the fact that the person inthe film who is supposed to be such a good writer actually is. Youunderstand why the writing read in the film (in voiceover) has the effectitdoes on the characters.If you can find it, rent it.

One of the most underrated films of all time

I can't believe this film is out of print, and will not go to DVD. It is a remarkably triumphant and truthful account of falling in love and has some amazingly raw and powerful moments. I couldn't recommend it more.

This is what happens when you have zero self-awareness and lack that little voice telling you, Don't EVER Commit This Schlock to Paper!

If I could give this movie 0/10, I would.I'm fairly positive anyone giving this movie more than a 1/10 is eitherEric Schaeffer or one of Eric's hundreds of email/IMDb accounts. He'sthe sort who would do something like that. He's oversensitive, frail,and a basket case.The movie FALLS under the category of so laughably and horrificallyatrocious, that it makes for some of the best comedy I've ever seen(laughing at you, Eric, NOT with you).Do yourself a favor and get the back story on Eric Schaeffer theboy-man. Read his salon interview (where he nonchalantly tells thereporter that as a child he had sex with his cousin), and check outsome of the stuff on gawker. It begins to explain his insecure psyche,his repressed and latent homosexuality, his sub-acute anger towardswomen (he tells a woman he wants to bash her skull in with a rock). In two of his movies now a supermodel just happens to find himunbearably cute and attractive (yeah?! Really, Eric? I mean. Really?)It says that the guy's self worth is so rock-bottom that he would needa really attractive woman to validate him.One theme in Eric's life -- fiction and actual -- is the ubiquitousinsecurity about his looks (and by extension his masculinity andsexuality). He's constantly asking women if they find him attractive.Women he's just met on a first date. And he'll badger them with thequestion until he gets the answer he's looking for. The tragedy of it all is that the man is almost 50. These are the kindof issues you should have ironed out -- oh, I dunno -- at least by theend of your thirties.There is a time when I probably might have liked this movie: when I was16 and didn't know jack about life. It's no coincidence that most ofthe IMDb viewers who rate this movie high are teenage girls (check outthe stats). There are some nice American Indie movies from the 90's. Kevin Smith,Edward Burns, etc. But if Eric Schaeffer is in any way associated withthat group, it's completely by accident.In short, this movie isn't about idealistic, old-school romance andtenderness. It's about a guy who believes women should woe, fight for,and court him (and it's **so** unfair that the world doesn't work thatway for him). A guy who wishes society found him as attractive as asupermodel. A guy who thinks women will instantly find him attractivejust because HE thinks he's a helluva nice guy (which is kind ofquestionable). A guy who fetishizes tortured agony in lieu of realintimacy.Watch FALL to figure out how NOT to live your life.

WAY TOO SAPPY with FATTTEST SUPERMODEL EVER!

Really wanted to see this Movie.... Sorely DISAPPOINTED. Quite BORING. Really just an EXTENDED MUSIC VIDEO. The only humorous part was the CASTING: THIS IS THE FATTEST SUPERMODEL YOU WILL EVER SEE ON DVD(and NOT VERY ATTRACTIVE except for those BLOATED LIPS!) Sorry Schaffer, your standards must be quite lower than mine. I've dated scores of women that are far more attractive.

Is there a soundtrack?? WHERE??

There is not much I can saw say that hasn't already. I saw this movieon cable and fell for it. I bought the VHS on Ebay and now on DVD. Iwas in a similar relationship and identified with both characters. Notonly that, but the movie is raw with emotion and the realistic issuesof both sides with the "real" world upon them. It captures, embodiesand summarizes that chapter in my life. I love the soundtrack as well.I have searched on Ebay, all over the net as well as the songsindividually and the lyrics with no results. So, if anyone knows whereto get one, can make me a copy, give me links to download or get it,PLEASE email me. I have been looking for about 1 year now with no luck.Thanks in advance!

The Most Romantic Movie EVER!, Eric Schaeffer is Brilliant!

Eric Schaeffer deserves more credit then he is given. His newest movie "Fall", starring Amanda deCadenet is his best yet. A love story of a supermodel and a cab driver, "Fall" has twists, laughs, and many tears. Schaeffer's poetry which he inserts in the script is phenomenal and is so romantic it makes you cry! . Its a great date movie, or a movie to watch on your own. Dont underestimate the talent and intelligence of Eric Schaeffer, or the independent movie industry. Watch this movie and you wont be disappointed.

Fall

I have never heard of Eric Schaeffer prior to seeing this film for the fourth time. Each time I saw it, I revelled in the writing and the directing - not knowing until I saw this page that the same man did both AND played the lead role ; beautifully, I might add. This film approaches masterpiece, and may well achieve it in the genre. The on-screen chemistry captured between Eric Schaeffer and Amanda De Cadenet is nothing short of spectacular, and the musical accompaniment is as close to perfect for the ending scenes as one could wish. While too erotic and provocative (bordering on explicit - despite almost lacking completely in nudity) for the mainstream, this film is endearing in the truth of human nature. This film allows us to explore and enjoy our human nature, while remaining detached from its direct influence and subsequent consequences. I have seen no other film of its kind. This is a work of mastery.

Shocking, predictable; impossible, believable; silly, profound. I know in my heart of hearts that I willnever do what Michael is able to do without even touching a woman, but itisprecisely that which all men wish to be able to do.Perhaps De Cadenet wasn't the best choice, but in many ways I think she isperfect for the role. The part calls for the ultimate physical archetypeofmodern man's masturbatory fantasies. She is that. Perhaps on occaisionSchaeffer's writing seems sophomoric on paper, and then seems uttergarbagewhen delivered. But still, through it all, I was moved. I sighed, I wasaroused, I was shocked, I was disappointed.I just saw this film minutes ago, and when I saw what everyone else haswritten, I just had to add my two cents to one of the most mixed bunch ofreviews I have ever seen. I think that alone stands as an accomplishmenttoSchaeffer. things aren't right if someone isn't pi**ed off. This filmpi**ed me off a little too. Andthat means it at least touched me. So there, an inept review by someonewhose opinion probably will matter only to himself.
