One's tolerance for strictly juvenile humor will decide what other age frame might enjoy such fodder.

Dude, Where's My Car? runs a short 83-minutes and yet still feels long.

No, no, no, no

Ok, I don't mind the occasional dumb movie that makes you laugh and youwonder why you are laughing at such a dumb movie, but I was in pain duringthis flick. Any laugh was a pity laugh and any attempt I made to laughforthe sake of making the experience better was painful and unsuccessful.Thetwo dudes did a great job and you can't complain about Kristy Swanson'sappearance. But no no no no no! After the movie my buddies and I sattherewith the typical "You know what was a funny part..." but that conversationdid not last very long. Hey, got to give them credit though... They got$7from me.

very funny

I don't normally go for slapstick humor, but I think this movie ishilarious. I've watched it a few times in pieces on HBO, and thestoner humor is pulled off wonderfully by the two lead actors. Ilove the scenes like the tattoo one in the tailor's shop. Of coursethere is some plain dumb stuff, but not enough to make meannoyed (unlike the movie"serving sara".)

movie_dude 2012-05-21 19:44:10

What the hell was that?

Oh, my God! What a stupid ass movie! It tried so hard to be funny, but it failed 10x. I was SO disapointed when I saw this. I thought itwas going to be funny as hell. Sure, it had a few laughs...but itwas just plain bad! And the worse part, there's going to be asequal? I would save my money if I were you. I give it:F

A fun comedy

On a friday night where I just felt like staying at home I rented this DVDand it's actually a funny flick. The plot revoles around two dudes tryingtofind their car and some other stuff. Seann William Scott steals the movieasalways and he should have had top billing. Anyway just rent this flick andwatch with the fellas and have some fun.

Not even worth the Eight Bucks

I wasnt expecting a masterpiece, but this movie failed even the lowestexpectations. The plot is so outrageous and the acting so bad, I didnt evenlaugh once. Jokes are stupid, obvious and not the slightest bit comical.Full with randomness, the plot makes no sense. Like I said, I was notexpecting a cinematographic masterpiece, but this joins the ranks withBiodome and Caddy Shack 2 as possibly the worst movie I have ever viewed inmy entire life.

Wonderful

Awesome flick, truly one of the best short conservative movies I'veever seen. Everything was so well done especially the first scene (notcounting the "dream"). And how they made the whole "aliens" thing truemad it more enjoyable, making fun or cults makes me give high marks. Aprevious comment here said "don't waste your time," I'd give thatadvice for a girl, but I would make a guy watch it (but the guy inquestion may have already seen it). And, by the way, Brent Spinerplaying a French "dude" in a short cameo sequence was extraordinary. Ireally wish I could see more films like this, and has gone into my "top10," no question.

Surprised

This movie made me laugh, which is something I figured it would never do.Though it had its share of raunch, it was somewhat refreshing to see amoviewhere the humour did not rely on sexual perversion. The film wasreminiscentof Dumb and Dumber, without the polished comedic ferver of Carrey andDaniels. Scott and Kutcher did a find job acting like complete asses, andthough the plot took a turn for the worst in the finale...this film wasoneof the funniest I've seen in years. Don't see it for plot, witty dialogue,or phenomenal performance. See it if you enjoyed movies like Happy Gilmoreand Dumb and Dumber.

Ok, I admit it, I liked this movie!

Okay first of all, the plot is VERY far fetched... The acting is bad (but that suits the movie!) It is a "brainless comedy" and is in absolutely NO WAY a serious movie.... Watch it on one of those days when things seem silly. Basically, the movie is like many other "2 stupid guys" movies, full of corny one liners and potty humour. Although its not as good as classics like "Dumb & Dumber", "Bill & Ted's..." or "Wayne's World" it is still a decent movie for laughs. But go with an open mind and don't expect anything more than stupid plot and silly , over-the-top characters. The only complaint I have is that the BEST PARTS are on the deleted scenes!

Dude, Where's the Script?

Okay, I promised myself that I wouldn't expend too much energy in writing this review after having seen this film (for free, thankfully) on Showtime, but I probably will anyway, so here goes: DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR? is one of the least funny so-called 'comedies' that I have seen in the past few years. It's not just that it's a stupid movie (after all, what else would one expect from a film titled DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR?), it's that it's just not funny. A famous reviewer once said that although there are bad horror films and bad dramas, there is no kind of film that is worse than a bad comedy. I have to agree with this philosophy--and DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR? is a very painful example of it.Since humor is basically a subjective concept in the first place, let me illustrate my reaction to this movie with a comparison: I laughed throughout every single scene of BLAZING SADDLES, MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, AIRPLANE!, THE NAKED GUN: FROM THE FILES OF POLICE SQUAD!, and SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT. I laughed most of the time during AMERICAN PIE and SCARY MOVIE. I laughed occasionally while watching SLUMS OF BEVERLY HILLS and ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE. I chuckled sporadically at THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY and DUMB AND DUMBER. I think I kind of snickered once or twice during one scene of DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR? You get the idea.Anybody wanting to see this movie because of how funny Ashton Kutcher is as the terminally clueless stoner Michael Kelso in the very-funny TV hit "That '70's Show", please stop yourself right now. Although Kutcher does play a fairly similar character in this movie, if you expect the dialogue to be as smart and funny as on his TV show, you're going to be very disappointed. This is a flick that assumes that people will find words like "shibby", "dude" and "sweet" funny--especially when repeated over and over and *over* again. Well I didn't, you sweet shibby dude. Oh, and I'm sorry but, no matter how many times the phrase "continuum transfunctioner" is spoken--at least 50 times in this movie, believe it or not--it just doesn't get funny, either. Oh well...DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR? is probably not the unfunniest comedy I've ever seen (that distinction would go out equally to the mega-bombs HEART CONDITION and THE CABLE GUY), but it's pretty well up there in the Top Ten!P.S.: the word "shibby" never caught on as the new 'cool word' the way the director and screenwriter had obviously thought that it would. Thank God for small favors--eh, dude? :)

So funny and so good.

Today I rented the Dude Where's My Car movie. It was so funny and so good.Tommy did not like it and I cannot figure out why. Does it not have hotgirls? Does it not have funny scenes? Other than the drug references(something I do not condone), it is very funny. Tommy called it brainlessand tried to show me where it is not funny, but you can't show funny, you'vegot to feel it. Tommy just doesn't get it. We never had things like thisback home. Our customers do as everyone of them laughed and bought things. This is exactly the type of movie I want to see over and over again. I evenwant to go to a strip club because it seems so funny. I'm Todd M. and thisgets four stars!!!

Silly fluff with really cute boyz

"Its mystery is only exceeded by its power." This movie is exactlywhat it sets out to be, a silly comedy with two extraordinarily cutestars having some wildly improbable adventures. It's very much inthe tradition of "Bill and Ted." The jokes work well, the star dudesare seriously sweet, and it all comes together in a beautifullyexecuted piece of cinematic cotton candy.

The worst movie in the history of cinema

This is the first time I have posted a review on IMDB, and I'm sorry ithadto be under these circumstances. But I have to tell the world that "DudeWhere's my Car" is the worst movie ever made. I got in for free and stillfelt ripped off; the energy I used to walk into the theater could havebeenbetter spent rubbing my head with a cheese grater or watching Bonanzareruns. I won't bother with a summary or analysis of this movie; sufficeitto say that the gratingly unfunny incidents pile up very quickly, transfixing the viewer and slowly sucking his/her will to live. AVOID ATALL COSTS.

If you didn't give this movie 5 stars you are too old.

Alright, if you saw this movie and did not laugh. You MUST be shot. I didnt stop laugh at this movie. This movie has to remind you of what you were like in either High school or college. I mean come on dude. There must have been a part of this movie made you just fall out of your seat. Anyways, this movie rocks! If you think other wise. Dude Where's your sense of humor?

Actually a Pretty Decent StoryLot Better Than Youd Think

At first glance "Dude Where's My Car" will probably hit you as one of those "dumb but funny" movies. In truth, of course it is, but the story that develops is actually pretty decent and a lot better than you would think initially.THE STORY:Chester (Sean William Scott, "American Pie" series, "Road Trip") and Jessie (Ashton Keaton) are two stoner buds who wake up from a night of partying with NO MEMORY of what they did over night. As the movie progresses it is slowly revealed that they had quite the night becoming mixed up with a transvestite striper, purchasing all types of stuff and even becoming caught up in the middle of an intergalactic battle between good and evil!!! In the midst of it all, they must also battle to save their relationships with their twin girlfriends and, of course, find Jessie's missing car.Best Scenes:-the blind boy meeting the alien chick-the Ostrich farm-Chinese take-out-ZOLTAN!!!!THE DVD FEATURES:The DVD is actually chalked full of some great extras, including:-Feature Length Commentary with the director, Sean William Scott and Ashton Kutcher: This commentary's about average/above average from most feature length commentary. Very entertaining to listen to as all three are pretty funny.-5 Minute Featurette with Sean William Scott, Ashton Kutcher and Kristy Swanson (Christie Boner): Not bad for 5 minutes. They show some of the "behind-the-scenes" stuff and talk about the movie's plot. It basically looks like some quick commercial they aired on E! or something.-Movie Trailer and TV Commercial Spots: The usual. Nice extra.-7 Extended Scenes: Going a little beyond the "deleted scene" extras they actually show the full scenes as it was originally filmed with the deleted footage still in. Overall, some of the deleted footage was pretty cool and would have actually added some to the story, but ultimately did not make a huge difference being left out anyway. In all, the DVD extras are a great and worthy bonus.THE VERDICT:If you're looking for a "dumb but funny, yet slightly intelligent" comedy, this is the ticket for you. Chalk full of laughs, some mindless fun and a pretty decent storyline this movie should be a pleaser to just about anyone. The DVD extras are a pleasant added bonus as well making this a great rental, OR, if you liked the movie enough and are so inclined, a decent addition to your DVD collection....

Charles Herold 2012-05-11 14:36:47

pretty funny, actually

In spite of the low rating here I figured I'd watch this, since I rememberliking the trailer, and it's a funny, amiable, purposely dumb movie that, while not quite as funny as dumb movies Bill & Ted or Wayne's World is stillquite amusing. It's got a good idea in which two very dumb guys trying toreconstruct the previous drunken evening discover clues to increasinglybizarre incidents. It's hit more than miss, and while it begins a bitslowly it gets up to speed reasonably fast. What keeps it from being agreat dumb movie is that the various elements introduced don't really buildon each other. Ideally each new revelation should have upped the wackinesslevel and felt like it had an insane sort of insane logic behind it, butit's more like you say, ah, that's a cute idea, without getting a sense ofany real momentum. The movie feels like a shaggy dog tale, but that's fine,I really enjoyed it.

Chris Gore 2012-05-11 01:19:09

Not funny. It's not even DUMB funny.

Max_cinefilo89 2012-05-09 10:32:11

SO stupid,but SO funny!

I have to admit it,the plot (2 guys not remembering what they did thenight before and ending up in an intergalactic crisis)is every bit asridiculous as it sounds, but the truth is, for some twisted reason , Ilike this movie. If people don't like this kind of stuff, why did theychoose to watch it in the first place?Whatever this movie lacks in intelligence is compensated by the talentof its two stars:Seann William Scott is as entertaining as in AmericanPie and Road Trip, and as for Ashton Kutcher...Well,That 70's Showaside,he's never really managed to be this funny again. Those two guysknow they're not doing a masterpiece such as Some Like It Hot, but theymanage to make us giggle with the material they've been given. Theyknow this movie will never appear in any Top 10 or 50 (except maybeStupidest Movies Ever), and they're fine with that. And so should theaudience. So,if you want to watch something that's funny but intelligent, watch aWoody Allen movie,or Wes Anderson's films,or The Simpsons, but if youwant to watch something that just makes you laugh without having youfocus on the story,I strongly recommend Dude,Where's My Car?.
