Jackie Chan stars as a hot-shot lawyer hired by a Hong Kong chemical plant to dispose of opposition to their polluting ways. But when he falls for a beautiful woman out to stop the plant, Jackie is torn in a conflict of interest and asks his trusty friends Samo and Biao to help out at least until they discover the true purpose of the plant.

This review is from: Dragons Forever (DVD) The movie is very good. But, its not the same cover and title that was showed when I purchased it. Anyway, the movie is nice and Jackie Chan's awesome.
Dragon Forever is a great martial arts with great fight scenes. JackieChan is funny as usual. Sammo Hung is very amusing in one of hisfunniest films. Yuen Biou is magnificent and the funniest out of thetrio. When ever these three Superstars make a film together, theyalways Entertain. Wheels on Meals and Project A are also Great Moviesfrom the trio. They also appeared together in small roles in Flopboring Movies My Lucky Stars and Twinkle twinkle lucky Stars. This isone of Jackie's finest movies, others include Police Story, DrunkenMaster, Armour of God, City Hunter, Twin Dragons and Rumble in theBronx. Dragons Forever is filled with plenty of comedy and Great fightscenes including a fight with each other. I have seen this movie almost30 times and never get bored of it.
This is the next step up for Jackie Chan movies from the Police Storywhere his actions and comedic touch goes up a notch.Criminal factory owner is polluting the water and fish farm downstreamis getting affected. The fish farm owner (Diannie Yip) decides to suethe factory. Jackie (Jackie Chan) who's the lawyer for the factoryhires Luke (Sammo Hung) to seduce the owner of the fish farm so hecould convince her to sell the farm. The fish farm owner has a cousinJenny (Pauline Yueng) who Jackie is wooing. The problem is Jenny is thechief witness for the fish farm owner. Jackie decides to go under thewire and hires Biao (Yuen Biao) to put hidden microphone in Jenny andher cousin's house. Luke rents the house next to the fish farm owner'shouse, and listens in on the conversation next door. He hears that theowner is looking for love, so he decides to make the move. All of thesesmoke and mirror moves by Jackie ends up in real love for him, andLuke. He decides to get off the case, and side with the fish farmowner.Great movie with Jackie, Sammo, and Yuen in the same movie since Wheelson Meals. The timing of action combined with comedy is a notch or twohigher in this movie compared to all of Jackie's previous movies, andsets a new standard that continues on to future Jackie Chan movies.Unbelievable action by the trio is guaranteed to entertain the viewer. One of the best Jackie Chan movie from the '80s.
The last of the 3 Brothers films is undoubtedly the best. Yes, even betterthan Project A. It took me a while to find a copy of this Chan-Hung-Biaoclassic, but as soon as I found it, I immediately bought it. I payed 29dollars for it, and it was totally worth it. It has some of the bestactionchoreography I have ever seen. It is a fast, hilarious, action-packed ridethat everyone can enjoy. I think that every single person should see thisfilm, because if you havent, you dont know what action reallyis.
This movie stands out as not only as one of Jackie Chan's greatest films, but it is the best movie he's done with his brothers Sammo Hung and YuenBiao. The plot involves a lawyer (Chan) hiring an arms dealer (Hung) and anutcase (Yuen) to help him win a case against a fish pond owner. Well, soonlove blooms and conflict arises. The actions scenes are great, as are mostscenes choreographed by Sammo Hung. Lots of great martial arts. Yuen Biaosteals the show as the acrobatic nutcase that somersaults around and talksweird philosophy all the time. The end battle is one of the best i've seenin all HK cinema. Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao take on Yuen Wah's men, and thenYuen Biao fights Billy Chow and Jackie takes on Benny "The Jet" Urquidez.Excellent stuff.
Awesome effort from 3 of the coolest guys ever in HK action cinema. It'sexciting, funny, action-packed. It's got a near-perfect balance of humorand seriousness that makes it a supreme entertainment. I hate the villains(which only enhances the viewing) too. And, yes, there is the absolutelyexplosive bout between Jackie and Benny "The Jet" Urquidez that you'veprobably heard about....Trust me kids, it rocks....
This could be the motto of the story of this excellent film. All thosewho know and like HK cinema style will watch it with great pleasure.Do not think too much about the meaning of the title - it is therebecause a film must have some title. When you see the film, you willforget about it for it has not much to do with what is happening :-).Dragon number 1 and the source of all complications - Jackie Chan. It'sa lawyer who has obviously never imagined that you can simply do whatyou have to do. And if finally he fails it's precisely because he wasmanipulating too much. He has another two dragons to help him with thistask (I mean losing the case). Dragon number 2 (following the order ofappearance in the film) is Sammo Hung - not too scrupulous man sellingillegally false guns. Dragon number 3 is Yuen Biao - a little bit crazybut sincere guy (too sincere to have such a cunning friend!). As usualhis acting and acrobatic skills are simply amazing. As far as the smartlawyer is not smart enough to warn his aides that they are two workingfor the same case, they meet, of course, and successfully ruins eachothers plans and the whole Jackie's strategy. And all this does notmean that they are losers. Not at all! In fact they win... but notwhere they thought they would.I do not recommend you to eat or drink while watching this film, because it is full of funny episodes which come unexpectedly. It mightbe dangerous if you have your mouth full of food! I especiallyappreciate the funny fighting moments. I do not mean only fighting in afunny situation, but the fighting itself, its choreography. When youare told that three men are fighting, you probably think one againsttwo? WRONG! Each of the three against the other two. I told you it'scomplicated. The most boring part is the final fight. In fact, it is excellent.Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao are demonstrating their wonderful skills (andtheir opponents are not worse) while Sammo Hung is looking half deadwith his face painted in white. I say it's boring because there are somany films that end in the same way: general fighting - all bad guys vsall good guys, the good ones winning by miracle, for, in fact, theenemy was stronger. The film has also its lyric moment which make it so cute and human...and gives you some rest, for nobody can laugh without stopping duringone hour and half!
This is another excellent movie with three of the greatest kung-fu mastersin Hong Kong (Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Biao Yuen). The story is okay, butthe love-stuff is kind of stupid. But that doesn't really matter, becausethe fighting scenes are really excellent. Not only do the three fight eachother, but Jackie Chan also has another meeting with Benny "The Jet"Urquidez. A must see for all Jackie-fans!
The Three Dragons, Sammo hung, Yuen biao and Jackie chan, all cometogether in their last starring roles together. If someone made a listof the top 5 greatest kung fu films ever put on the screen since thebeginning of the genre, then this would be on it. It would be unfare tosay that it is number one, since i have not seen every kung fu filmever made, and because they will forever continue to make more. But itwould definitely be on the list, every...single...time. It is theperfect recipe for a perfect movie, and the result is more thanperfect. The cast, the fights, the camera work, the fights.Awesome,awesome,awesome,awesome. This also just might be the mostunderrated movie of all time. Not only do most people not even knowabout this movie, and when tou tell them Jackie chan is in it, theywon't even believe you.Too bad too.
This is the last of a legacy of collaborations between Hung, Chan, and Biao. The fight choreography in this film is top-notch. The story however fails to rise from a hokey Canto-comedy with some dramatic elements, to meet the quality of the action. This film show cases a second encounter between Benny "The Jet" and Jackie Chan.
Though Jackie Chan has really outdone himself in movies like Drunken Master 2 and Super Cop, this time he captures his audience with some of the greatest slapstick since Laurel and Hardy. There wasn't a moment when I wasn't laughing in this one. And still, the stunts were unbelievable. Though it seems everyone's favourite Chan film is Drunken Master 2, I'm still saying this was his most entertaining.
This movie and Drunken Master II are my favourite Jackie Chan movies. He's incredible! This movie blends Jackie's trademark stunts and fighting scenes with great slapstick comedy. Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao are great, and add a lot to the comedy. I just wish there were more movies with these three together. They have great chemistry, and I couldn't think of a moment I wasn't laughing during the movie. I just watched it for the first time today, but I know I'll be watchingit many times over.
When I watched Dragons Forever for the first time in 1998, I was in aweabout the fight scenes and the comedy. I had just become a fan ofJackie Chan's movies, and the TV showing of Dragons Forever really gotme hooked. I bought the movie on VHS but found it hard to read theEnglish subtitles because they were below the Chinese, so most of itwas unreadable. Two years ago I bought a Hong Kong DVD and watched it for 7 times inone week :) I LOVE this movie, it is so unique in Jackie's oeuvre. Notonly is it one of the few movies in which the "Brothers" (Jackie Chan,Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao), are acting together, it was also the lasttime they did. And most of all the ONLY movie in which the "Brothers"are not only fighting the criminals together, but also each other! Thefight scenes are hilarious and every step is choreographed although itlooks like a spontaneous fight. Alls the fights are both funny andbreath taking.Jackie Chan as a slick lawyer, a true Romeo when it comes to women, finds himself in a somewhat difficult position where love and workcollide, Sammo Hung in a non type-casted role as romantic fortuneseeker, (btw I love the way he gets "her" to have dinner with him) andYuen Biao is absolutely the most lovable lunatic I have ever seen. The scenes where Sammo and Biao encounter each other in Jackie'sapartment are sequences I watch over and over again. The boat fight and the factory fight with Benny Urquidez are reallysomething! And I am certainly in awe of Yuen Biao's agility in thefactory fight, where he is on his back and flips himself over in a wayI would never have imagined possible.Just today I got a newer DVD, which includes bloopers and 2 deletedscenes with Yuen Biao. One where he is seeing his psychiatrist, andanother one where he believes he is talking to his psychiatrist overthe intercom, but in fact is talking to the guy that is ROBBING thepsychiatrist!!!One other funny thing about the movie: in the kitchen scene Jackie isjuggling with a knife and then later with both the knife and a woodenkitchen utensil. But if you look closely, the wooden utensil is NOT infrom of him and a second later (as by magic it is).Yuen Wah makes a terrific BAD guy!!!!!! We see Dick Wei as one of thethugs (he was also the pirate leader in Project A) Even though today Iam the proud owner of some 55 Jackie Chan movies, I feel that DragonsForver is still one of my most favorites!!!!! Tip: If you want to seethe other 3 (Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao and Yuen Wah) in action again, DOtry Eastern Condors also.
It is just strange to see Jackie Chan trying to start a romance and pass himself off as a lawyer. But other than that complaint, the fighting scene sequences were quite nice with lots of action.I wish there was more though, maybe some guns, explosives, and a deeper plot. But hey, its Hong Kong style so I can't complain too much.
First let me say this is one of my favorite Jackie Chan movies, especially with the addition of Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao. Lots of great fights and stunts, but unfortunately none of the standard Jackie Chan outtakes at the end of the movie. The DVD transfer is not up to Hollywood standards, but considering the source material it is not too bad - much better than the pan-and-scan VHS version I had previously seen. The re-mixed Dolby Digital 5.1 sound was relatively clear, but the sound effects during the fight scenes were overdone with typical kung-fu movie sounds whenever characters took a swing or made a kick. This was very apparent when Benny the Jet "cracks" his neck - it sounds like he's made of balsa wood. This is no different from the VHS version, but with the directionality of the surround mix, the sounds become even more distracting. There were some differences from the VHS version: a scene was missing where Yuen Biao visits his psychiatrist. This ommission makes his character's motivation a little harder to understand, but other than that you're only missing out on a little comedy. Also, there were no subtitles to the song lyrics in the middle of the movie. This is unfortunate, because the subtitles on the videotape version were unintentionally hilarious ("our hearts walk arm in arm...a touch, and sparks of electricity leave my heart strings atremble, love is conveyor belt of warmth"). DVD owners will miss these wonderful lyrics.
This is a very good movie with wonderful performances all around. Jackie Chan plays a sleazy lawyer, Sammo Hung an arms dealer, and Yuen Biao as a psychotic handyman. My only complaints for this movie is the music, when Sammo gets hit in the head with a wrench and Yuen Wah's character being underused. He is an equally talented martial artist/acrobat but the rematch from Wheels on Meals with Chan and Benny the Jet more than makes up for it. (See Eastern Condors or Heart of Dragon for the talents of Yuen Wah). Yuen Biao is great as usual as an actor, acrobat and fighter and Hung's skills are used well but his direction is very good. Jackie really is better than the two as is shown in this movie (especially the fight onboard the ship). The fights between Biao, Hung and Chan is a rare classic. This movie will thrill you and make you laugh as Biao, Hung, and Chan walk off in style. This movie should definitely be bought!
This is the best Jackie Chan movie,it has it all, great fights, humor, and tons of action! This is my favorite movie and is a great one at that. The end fight is the best I have ever seen and the fight between Jackie and Benny was just incredible! This movie has great humor, and there were a couple scenes were I rolled with laughter. Don't miss out on this one,it's great!
I'm a three brothers fan and I love the martial arts in the movie, but the sound effects are horrible. There are parts in the movie where you ask "who is rattling paper bags in the background?"
This is a Jackie Chan movie: need I say any more. Probably not but Iwill. Not all of Jackie Chan movies are full of fights and laughs, though they do have scenes which set them apart from other movies.Dragons Forever I thought was going to be a slow movie, because I haveseen a couple, but it wasn't. It was full of laughs, fighting, andthings typical to Jackie Chan, though it did not have the classic stuntfrom Project A.Jackie Chan plays a lawyer that looks after business people and evengangsters, but he does have morals. After he manages to get a guyacquitted for raping a woman, he punches him in the stomach. Hisnemesis is a young girl who owns a fish farm and a local factory ispoisoning the lake. The girl takes the factory to court and Jackie Chanis hired by the factory to look after them. The confusion sets in whenhe realises that he has fallen in love with this woman. Then it isdiscovered that the factory has a more sinister side to it.As for intellectual stimulation, there is little in this movie. It isinteresting how we see the relationship between the lawyer and the girlwork, especially how he starts off wanting to simply bed her and thenuses the law to switch sides. The other characters are interesting aswell. There is one business man who deals in fake weaponry and anotherwho is simply mad. The guy is simply crazy and talks about how fishrepresent capitalism and birds represent communism. Jackie's methodsare a little unethical, depending on where you draw ethics. He uses histwo friends to extract information for himself, though he does notreveal everything to his friends. Everything flies back to him in theend when it is realised that he is taking everybody for a ride. Thoughthe movie does have a happy ending, as is true Hollywood style.
This is a must see for fans of the Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, and Samo Hung brother movies. It is their last film starring together and the action is great. They have a chemistry which only comes from a long association - growing up together certainly qualifies. Not only do they fight the bad guys, but they fight each other! (And Jackie does not come off as the lilly-white hero he usually portrays!) I didn't like it as much as Wheels on Meals, but for a fan of the dynamic brothers, its a definte must see! (P.S. Benny the Jet gets another chance at Jackie)
