This review is from: Critters 2 - The Main Course (DVD) This is one of the best out of the entire series. Action, suspense a suggested good buy.
CRITTERS 2 has to be one of the best Sci-Fi/Horror films ever made!! It's ablockbuster!! It is full of great Special-Effects, Fun Characters, and it'san all-out good time! I'm surprised that this film doesn't have morerecognition. There's action, suspense, and the countryside town of Grover'sBend gives the film a great Atmosphere. Scott Grimes is back as BradleyBrown, who returns to Grover's Bend to spend Easter Vacation with hisGrandmother. Unfortunately, some of the Critter Eggs that had beenundiscovered in the Brown's old Barn are about to hatch and the Town is infor a Big surprise!! Also returning are Don Opper AND Terrence Mann as thespace-hopping Bounty Hunters who come to finish off what they thought theyhad destroyed before! The Town that never believed Brad Brown suddenlylearns that the Critters are real and must all join forces to try and stopthe critters before they become Lunch! The Critter Effects are Top-Notchand the film is fun and exciting!! Just like the first CRITTERS, Part 2 isa cult classic and deserves better recognition!!!
It's Easter-time at Grover's Bend, and the townsfolk are busy preparingtheir festive activities; but with unhatched Krite eggs unknowinglybeing used for the church's annual egg hunt, the town's children are infor a bigger surprise than they expected. Fortunately, alien bountyhunters Ug (Terrence Mann), Lee and Charlie (Don Opper) are determinedto defeat the Krites, albeit with a little help from teenagers Brad(Scott Grimes) and Megan (Liane Curtis).I was really surprised to see that this sequel to Gremlins rip-offCritters had a lower rating than the original: story-wise, it's notexactly a vast improvement over the first film, and the Krite effectsare still pretty ropey (not much more than glorified hand puppets), butwith better visual effects, gorier action, and even a little T&A frombuxom Roxanne Kernohan (whose sexy form Lee assumes after seeing her ina copy of Playboy), this one has much more 'bite' than the original andis all the more entertaining for it.Directed by Mick Garris, who would go on to helm many a Stephen Kingadaptation, and written by David 'Pitch Black' Twohy, Critters 2displays imagination, invention and an obvious affection for theB-movie sci-fi/horror genre from the very start to the memorably funfinish, in which a huge ball of critters rolls towards the town, devouring anyone unlucky enough to get in its way!
Sequel to the successful 1986 film, adds more of the same, only withless fun. Bounty hunters LEE, UG & CHARLIE head back to earth to find abatch of Critter eggs, left there by the original creatures, in a nowabandon barn, however, their hopes of a peaceful pick up of the eggsgoes haywire, when a local teen sells the eggs to a junk dealer, whomin turn, sells them to an old lady, that own a day care center, whom isplanning on giving the eggs to the kids at the center when they go onan easter egg hunt. Soon the little fur balls hatch & once again, attack the residents of Grovers Bend. Now with the help of the kid fromthe original film, BRAD, the bounty hunters attempt to blow theselittle suckers away or die trying. Sequel to the original film lacksthe bite (no pun intended) of the original. Nor does it have the rocksoundtrack of the original to back it & although there were severalneat things in the film, such as LEE the faceless alien turning into anerdish waiter before finally finding the "Right Self" in the form of aplayboy centerfold, as well as the Critters getting together to makethemselves into a giant Critter ball that turns up at the climax thatruns over several of the locals & strips them of their skin so thatthere's nothing but their skeleton. But it just does not hold togetherlike the first, but a fun film nonetheless, especially for fans of theoriginal or GREMLINS. Followed by two sequels starting with CRITTERS 3 *** (stars)
I dreamed to see the film for a long time and finally when I did rent it I watched it twice. I had tears in my eyes when Lee died, needless to say I am an imotional person but there aren't too many movies that could make me cry. My best friend loved it as much as I did and we both ended up buying it. The idea of Critters is original and no matter how many years go by, it was, is, and always will be my favorite movie.
The human eating Krites are back in town and so is Scott Grimes from thefirst movie . Brad has come to visit his grandmother in his old town wherethe krites first terrorised him and his family trouble soon occurs when anew batch of krites start eating people. Good entertainment and mildgore.
This movie is a descent sequel to the first Critters movie. The continuity is still intact & seems to pick up a few years later after the first one. Its definitely worth having.
The sequel to Critters, Critters 2:The Main Course is a little worse than the original. This time the film becomes more of a comedy than anything else ie. at this stage we now realise that the Critter quartet series is an entire spoof on other horror material. In fact Critters 2 earned it it's most prolific (if you can call it that) scene with the man dressed up in an Easter Bunny suit. I'll say no more! Still quite watchable on a boring Sunday evening.
This review is from: Critters 2 - The Main Course (DVD) i will bey more from this seller. it was in grate and it look like it was new. even it had been used.
Scott Grimes, Don Opper and Terrence Mann star in this 1988sci-fi/horror sequel. After 2 years, bounty hunters return to Kansas torid more hungry aliens. Charlie (Opper) is a new bounty hunter fromGrover's Bend, Kansas working with Ug (Mann) and his brother, Lee whosaved his friends, the Browns from the Krites 2 years earlier. Theylearn that all the Krites were not destroyed and head back to Earth.Meanwhile, The town of Grovers Bend is getting ready for Easter weekendand is in for a surprise when there's Krite eggs looking like Easterones that hatch. Brad Brown (Grimes) also returns to town helping outwhile visiting his grandma. This is a good sequel and I think itshould've been the last. I recommend this.
The second Critters film is not as good as the first one but it is fantastic anyway! The story is marvelus...you can almost cry when Lee dies. When all the critters gets into a giant critter-ball is a cool idea! There are not to many victems but they who gets killed, gets killed verry nasty! As the worlds biggest Critter fan can i just say one thing...THEY HAVE TO BE RELEASED ON DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a terrible sequel. The reason I give this film two stars insteadof zero because it's a movie that has violence and gore and critters, yet it is planned out poorly. And this god-awful sequel was done bynone other than BUM-BUM-BUM-BUM!!!!!!!!! Mick Garris! The bonehead thatbrought you the remake of The Shining which nearly got Kubrick tonearly roll in his grave when he discovered it was actually made.Garris is also the man that brought you the sad sequel of THE FLY, THEFLY, which was a wonderful movie, but Garris's movie nearly ruined JohnGetz career. Anyway, if you really want to see the crappy critterstrilogy in order, don't. That's the mistake I made, rent the first oneor the third one or better yet DON'T STOOP TO THAT LEVEL AT ALL! Thismovie sucked so bad that I can't believe it, please avoid this crap.Shame on you, Mick!
One of The good things about this movieis that thelike-able characters from the first CRITTERSmovie returns. This one is way more gory than thefirst one,but it is still worth a look.
The Critters have always been cool little monsters, they aren't justlittle omnivorous monsters that eat anything that won't run away andthen chase after it. They are smart, clever monsters with their ownlanguage and strategies. The interaction between the characters work, the acting is great. The gore effects are effective. The story is acool continuation from the first movie. The new batch of Critters arecool and the rampage continues to be fun. But there is one characterthat gets killed this go round, but I'm not saying which character. Itwas hard watching that character get it. But other then that, I saythat Critters 2 could be anyone's main course of a video feast. 9STARS.
Two years has passed... Brad Brown (Scott Grimes) is trying to move onby visiting his grand-mother (Herta Ware) for the easter holiday. TheBounty Hunters (Don Opper and Terrence Mann) are traveling back toEarth. Because the Critters were not completed destroyed. The AlienEggs were not destroyed. Since Easter is coming, a small town somewherein Kansas will discover that the Easter Holiday isn't everything.Directed by Mick Garris (Pyscho 4:The Beginning, Sleepwalkers, TheStand) made an enjoyable sequel with better special effects and a bitmore explicit violence. The film looks more like Joe Dante's Gremlins. This film was a box office disappointment. Critters 3 & 4 were directto videos, because of the disappointment returns of Critters 2. Thefilm also has likable performances by Tom Hodges, Liane (Alexandra)Curtis, Lin Shaye and Barry Corbin. Eddie Deezen (From Grease 1 and 2Fame) has a bit part. Filmmaker:Tom Mc Loughlin (Friday the 13th Part6-Jason Lives, Date with an Angel) has a cameo. Written by the directorand David Thohy (The Arrival, Pitch Black). (*** ½/*****).
This review is from: Critters 2 - The Main Course (DVD) You can look at the cover and know it's not an A-list blockbuster. That being said, for a horror/comedy, I've always thought it was awesome. The aliens are reasonably original (obviously there was a first movie, but you know what I mean), they are cute and cuddly, with lots of teeth and poison darts in their heads; how can you not love them? The characters are reasonably well developed between the two films (they're best watched back to back, though I would skip parts 3 and 4). The special effects, while not stellar, are definately good enough to support the film in the necessary ways. And yes, who can forget the giant ball o' Critters rolling down fleeing citizens and leaving twitching skeletons in its wake (I tend to watch that part five or six times every time I watch this movie). Again, not a deeply fulfilling interpersonal drama, or whatever, but very entertaining, campy alien horror, with enough humor to keep it from being too dark. I definately recommend it.
The characterization is no better than the original film and Critters 2is one of the literally hundreds of monster movies that have noentertaining plot and only focusing on the creatures as the antagonistsas trying to be the film's definition in the horror genre. I've seenseveral movies that are way better than Critters 2, such as Gremlins 2,now THAT was a masterpiece. However, I've also seen several moviesworse than Critters 2, such as the sequel to Attack of the KillerTomatoes. We feel little sympathy for the human characters who are both prey andwarriors against the Crites, or called Critters. The bounty hunter Ugis depressed that his partner Lee was killed off by the monsters. However, the audience don't get the special message of why they shouldactually love Lee played by Roxanne Kernohan as much as Ug does. Theonly fact the audience can know about Lee is that she was naked and theaudience was supposed to be perverted by theclearly-shown-close-to-camera shots where you see her breasts and butt.A very very unlikely reason that someone would like this movie is thatthis is a PG-13 and not R rated movie with porn on it unlike today'smovies. So should the audience just be sad that her boobs & butt wereeaten by the Critters and they'll never get a close view on them again?Even if the Critters had a deeper impact and made the film scarier anddarker, the film wouldn't have been that interesting because of how thescript and acting were written. The title has described the entiremovie's story, it's about monsters chasing humans to eat.
Not as good as the first one but this also is fantastic! The Critters (A.K.A krites) are back in Grovers bend.Ug,Lee and Charlie McFadden are back to fry them.this time they are about 200 critters at the ending.A perfect film for people with taste!
I knew then when I finished watching the first movie there was a second movie either done or was planned at the time. With this movie it's not like with the first movie though it takes place in more of the town than that of the first movie had. While the bounty hunters had thought they had eliminated all the Critters from Earth but unaware that there were still a few eggs that had been left when they had left at the end of the first film. The humor in the movie has a little more in this one compared to the first movie and the story though hasn't improved in a sense by today's standards, but I feel that it's still a good movie for a sequel to a Sci Fi/Horror/Comedy. I think that some people may need to check out these movies if you haven't yet. Overall Critters 2, gets 3 stars out of 5.
This 1988 sci-fi/horror sequel picks up 2 years later when bounty huntersreturn to Kansas to stop more hungry aliens. This is a great sequel andit should've been the last in the series. This dvd has nice picture and sound plus trailers for all 4 films. I recommend this.
