We have taken some photos of "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior - Season One". They represent actual movie quality.
I love Suspect Behavior. Something new we can see the magnificent workof Forest Whitaker, making an excellent drama. Under the role of SamCooper, shows an amazing ability of how he can think like the criminalsin the homicide to discover every step through their peacefulpsychology. The actors around Cooper have the exact attitude tocomplement the good team. Janeane Garofalo "Beth Griffith" and BeauGarrett "Gina LaSalle" have an attitude a bit like Cooper, butsometimes not so peacefully, help as complementary. Matt Ryan, "MickRawson" and Michael Kelly "Prophet", with its experience can discovermany things along the way. Kirsten Vangsness' Penelope Garcia "alwaysgood mischief as Criminal Minds. This is a very good series where weshow another of the surprising ways of how criminals can be arrested.- This commentary was written by a Latino which his English may not bequite perfect.
Since the very first episode of Criminal Minds it has been my favoriteshow ever. So, like many others, I was excited to find out there was aspin-off of this excellent series. I have seen 5 episodes now of CM:SB, and I can say wholeheartedly that it is a major disappointment. To start off: Forest Whitaker is a great actor, but this part doesn'tdo him justice at all. He can do so much better then this. To be frank:he seems high some of the times. I only know the other actors from somesmall roles in other movies, so I can't say much about their actingabilities, but their characters lack any kind of depth or honesty.Completely the opposite of CM-the original. The voice-over at the beginning of every episode tells about a Red-Celldivision being some kind of an elite division of the BAU, but isn'tthat somewhat contradictory? Isn't the BAU already an elite division ofthe FBI? Well, if this is an elite division, how bad would the realdivision be? Luckily we know the answer to that, because the actualCriminal Minds series is so much better.Even Kirstin Vangsness disappoints as Penelope Garcia. In the originalCM she is a shy, innocent and modest person, while in this spin-off sheis downright cocky and lacks the emotions we all have gotten used toand love in the original series. And why even put her in the show inthe first place? This implies that, while she sometimes travels withthe team of the original CM, she has so much time on her hands that shecan assist another team. Watching the original show she simply doesn'thave time for that. Therefor it's only natural that her contributionsto CM:SB seems fabricated and unnatural. As said I have watched 5 episodes now, and the plots are completelyunbelievable. I especially disliked the episode about the sniper(fourth episode).WARNING: SPOILER AHEAD! DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO BE SURPRISED.About 30-32 minutes into the episode character Mark assembles hissniper gun and loads it. When you watch the playback carefully you seea slug coming out at the moment he loads his gun. What's that about? Heputs in the magazine and to put a round into the chamber of the gun(which is ridiculous anyway, because you only load your gun at the lastmoment before shooting; it's a sniper gun, remember?) he holds back thehandle to make the gun ready for action. At that moment there shouldn'tbe a slug exiting the gun because THE GUN WAS ASSEMBLED AT THE SPOT andso it was unloaded. A slug exiting the gun implies that the gun wasalready loaded to begin with, which is unsafe and unwise for awell-trained sniper as he pretends to be.Then about 35-36 minutes into the show a guy gets shot just outside ofthe memorial center. He isn't dead, so the pretty blond agent (I don'teven bother to remember her name) runs out to drag him to safety. Thispart is particularly unbelievable. She is trying to be a hero, butactually she is being very stupid. Snipers often injure people to lureenemies out, simply so they can shoot them too. An agent of an elitedivision (of the BAU no less) should know that. And not only does shemanage to drag the wounded guy to safety, the enemy-sniper (who earlierin the episode manages to kill two people with two shots fired withonly a second in between the shots) misses! And why does he miss? Well,he misses because Red-Cell sniper Mark (who is said to be one of thebest) jumps up from his spot opposite of the enemy-snipers building andyells out, presumable to draw fire. I don't know if he had a death wishat that moment, but he should have been killed with a nice clean headshot only seconds after he jumped up. But of course that doesn't happeneither. Instead he points his sniper gun at the location of theenemy-sniper. But people, look at is position: he stands totally in theopen, in broad daylight and at a downward angle from the enemy-sniper.Again: does he have a death wish? I can go on and on about other big,big mistakes in both this and other episodes, but I think you catch mydrift. I will no longer watch this series. I simply get infuriated toomuch: how dumb do they think we are? Or maybe I will record some of theepisodes. You know, in case I can't sleep at night.
I like it. Not the best show ever made, but certainly isn't the worst. You have to separate it from the original. I appreciate that they triedto tie them together by bringing Garcia in to it, but there's no waythe FBI would have only one tech master so they could have had acompletely different character for that roll, but all in all I like it.I like the cast together and don't feel like I'm "missing" the castfrom the original because I can watch them too. Too bad people couldn'tgive this show a shot as a stand alone from the same family. If you cansee it as a completely different show I think you'll find its just asgood as anything else out there right now. The more episodes I watch, the more I like it, which is unfortunate since its over.
Crimonal Minds is a great show, maybe not so great as of late, what hasbeen great and still has potential, but I don't buy into the whole lawand order effect. That is that not all good shows need a spin off. WhenI started watching this show, I hated it, I couldn't find any of thecharacters that interesting, and the plots seemed to be dumbed downversions of CM episodes in seasons 3, 4, and 5. As it kept going, Ihave grown to like it a bit more, and the characters have become betterdeveloped, but it is still not all that great. One of my peeves is Penelope. I never liked her in the first CMinstallment, she was too bright and flashy, and her character had aboutthe same depth as a ground-level fountain. If you want a big change forthat, you won't get it here, though you might wonder where the hell shehas the time to coordinate between two teams. As for the othercharacters, none really stand out, Prophet is over aggressive and seemsto have a massive chip on his soulder, the British guy is, well,British, The Black haired lady is a bit stuck up and hostile towardseveryone, and Gina just seems to be the insecure blond who knows thatshe really isn't as talented as the rest. Sam Cooper is nothing towrite home about either. The problem isn't that these characters areuninteresting, but that they are essentially clones of CM characters(Black-haired lady could be Hotch, Brit Guy Prentiss and Morgan, Cooperis a bit Gidean and a bit Rossi, and Gina is almost a clone of Seaver),so they took out Reid and called it good. And okay, I didn't reallyexpect much else, which is why I gave it a sevon, same with the L&Ofranchise, they stick to the same characters. As for the plot, while later episodes show some promise, other thenthem being more gritty then most CM episodes, the plots are the same:bad guy commits crime, normally murder, and good guys go after them.Okay. They took out some of the more character-driven plot from theorigonal series, and again, okay, good that they didn't stick to thesame formula. The fact is that the plots alone are just not worthwatching right now, I mean, there is no real difforence between thecaseloads, and really, it just becomes average fare pretty quictly.Yes, some are interesting, but not enough to set the whole show apart. In conclusion, this show is good if you want a Crimonal Minds withoutthe strong character building parts of it, and if you just want a quickfix of bad guy gets cought action. Nothing really sticks out about it,but it is on an upword spike, so who knows. Had I reviewed this afterthe first episode, I would have given it a 2 or 3, so yes, it hasimproved, it just isn't as good as the origonal.
This is a truly excellent spin-off. Forest Whitaker is magnificent, hismystical-zen-Buddhist-whatever approach to the job is pivotal to hisrole. The rest of the cast is not so good - the "british accent" guy ismuch more annoying than Garofalo and The Prophet is way too thin acharacter to be interesting. The plot of episode 1 was puzzlinglyplain, the episode 2 was great, episode 3 was a little less great.Throughout the episodes, Forest's mumbling and drooling keeps the showabove average, and much more down-to-earth than the last episodes ofthe original "Criminal Minds", which has taken a turn through LeCarré's turf... This show is getting better episode by episode, nowthat the parent series Criminal Minds is winding down.
I gave the show enough chances. The '3 star' rating is down to '0' andany hope of improvement has dwindled to nothing. What happened to theFBI  why is Whitaker the only one with answers? It almost seems likethe only reason the other agents are there, is to say stuff like, 'WOW,you are too smart'  and then go wandering off bumping into walls ortripping over air. What a joke? I know the FBI is smarter than what isportrayed on this show. And talk about team communicate maybe? There isno team cohesion, and for that matter, no flow to the show either. Imean - it seems like Whitaker walks into a meeting room and the rest ofthe crew act like newborn baby chicks waiting to get a piece of somepre-chewed worm from momma bird. After the team congratulates Whitakerfor being too smart, they wander around  kind of aimlessly  and beginthe wait. Oops  there is one who does not need to wait. One who needsno direction or instruction. There is one who is never wrong (sited onlast week's show) - and that would be the character played by JeanineGarafalo. She is one of the most painful characters on TV. Talk about apermanent mood swing! That is one girl full of anger and hate.Previously I did try to be nice to the show. I thought I saw a glimmerof light shimmering through the new TV series fog. I wished there wassome hope for the show  but there seems to be none. Now it is only arace to the edge of the cliff between the original Criminal Minds andthis one, and I feel this one will find the bottom of the chasm first.I do not know what possessed the producers and directors to hire such apolitically charged hot potato as Garafalo, but she does provide somecover. When the show fails  she only needs to pound her chest andblame Bush and then  magically - all problems go away.
Im about to take it off my recordings list for my recorder. Whitaker'scharacter is so over the top it gets annoying. Hes over acting and justadds to much drama to the character. Just plain annoying. The othercharacters don't click together at all the show is just not believable.Im going to give one more week. I've already watched 4 episodes and Iregret watching it every time. One more week. I loved episodes so far. It's may not show character development yet,but if it does have a second season I sure the writers will write itin. The actors and actresses show great emotions...especially ForestWhitaker he takes my breath away and he developed his character to showgreat leadership and emotion. I've cried at a majority of the episodesthat have been released so far. Yeah I'm emotional person so what! The action scenes are amazing, it makes me feel like I'm there withthem. I hope that everyone give it shot and not judge it based on theoriginal because its not supposed to be like the original...its likethe old saying lightening doesn't hit the same place twice.
This series is a great disappointment from a previously enjoyedfranchise; that being Criminal Minds. The acting is lacklustre, theplots appear to aim for a deeper depravity and violence from thatdetailed in Criminal Minds. The plot resolutions seem to require theactors to provide explanatory monologues to justify the thoughtprocesses scripted. The lead actor displays a constantly stunned lookand mumbles through his lines. Thanks goodness for our pvr which we useto back up and listen to try to understand what he, and other castmembers, has said. Garcia is totally wasted on this show, with thequick flashes to her when information is required and no personalinteraction. The impression given is that another series was required, quickly, and this show was thrown together with whomever was available, and tied to Criminal Minds' coattails to "guarantee" some degree ofsuccess. Oh, well, good try.
Seeing the first episode was really a major disappointment. The Role ofJonathan (Michael Kelly)telegraphs the ending "drama" in such apredictable manner that I nearly have to say this review is a spoiler. It seems like all of the characters lack real emotional commitment andare basic stereotypes. The first episode of this series does not haveeither the layers of complexity or commitment of Criminal minds. Thisseemed to be a "buddy" show. Forest Whitaker can find and play farbetter roles than this. Don't watch it, it's a complete waste of time.Although not all of the character have been properly introduced in thefirst episode it does not appear to have the makings of a good show.
When I started to watch the "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior"I felt itmight be good or better than the "Criminal Minds" but it sucks. ForestWhitaker acting sucks. Its easily guess able that who the suspect mightbe. Also the at the end we feel like it's been completed in a hurry upmanner. For instance the episode "The.Time.Is.Now" was just shown thatthe convict went to victim's house and completed just like that. In thenext episode "Strays" also it was the same."Forest Whitaker" word "talkto me" doesn't make any sense on any part of the episode or it reallymake us irritating. Please try to bring some innovation on to the seriesso that we can watch it.
One of the worst shows I've seen in a long time. Like most people, Idecided to watch it on the back of how much I love the originalCriminal Minds. I gave it a couple of chances because of this. Alas, Ihave now conceded that it's not getting any better. The plot is notclever, thrilling or exciting. Garcia (from the original) is in it, butthere's none of the banter between her and the team that there is inthe original. It's almost as if they hate her babbling on. There's alsosome random Welsh guy in it? Not sure why he's there? I just find himannoying anyway. However my main issue with the series is Forest Whitaker. He isabsolutely dire in it. Partially I think I hate him so much because Iknow him from so many other roles, I just keep thinking "there's thatpsycho stalker from ER"! I just don't find him believable at all. In myopinion they should have got a neutral, unknown actor to play the lead.I really, really hate his acting in this too. He plays it WAY toointense. Someone will ask him something trivial and he'll practicallybreak down crying giving his answer. I find myself tuning out when he'smid sentence.Absolute snoreathon. I won't be wasting anymore time on it anyway!
Most people probably dislike the show because they were expected, basically a Criminal Minds, from this point shortened to CM, clone, andno, that is not what you are getting or should expect. The show have after 3 episodes done a bad job at making you bond withthe characters, it's almost like they expected you to have seen theepisodes of CM where these people appeared, and then assumes that theydon't have to give you a better insight. In difference from CM, these people don't seem to make much of aprofile, they seem more obsessed with finding small hints, that otherhave overseen. Only the main character seems to have some insight inthe minds of the criminals, since he try to place himself in theirshoes, and understand why they did what they did. However it isn't all bad, the criminals are somewhat interesting, aswell as their crimes, and there seem to be a element in the series thathave been poking my mind, but I have yet to put the finger on, whichmight make it better with time as one get used to that element(assuming it exists, and my mind aren't tricking me). Currently thisseems to be all it is living on, but I am willing to give it thebenefit of the doubt(for now), but it really do help to not think of itas an attempt to clone CM, and stop comparing it to CM. Will not recommend it, at least not in it's current form.
I must say I am not one of those who admired Forest Withaker in thefirst place, but I always look at every new series or movie with neweyes, giving everyone a new chance; as I have experienced many timesthat actors I normally don't like, suddenly gives a great performance.-However, this is not the case with Forest in Suspect Behaviour; Thecharacter he plays is simply very stressful, and annoying: he talks ina way that is difficult to follow, sort of throws you out of yourconcentration, demanding to much focus just to simply understand him,and requiring a lot of patience that takes away the opportunity toenjoy the story and everything else that is going on. He demands tomuch, simply but, and is not believable as an agent. The show would memediocre/OK if his character was more easygoing, and in tune with hisenvironment. -Everything would be different, if he had a completelydifferent body language, and spoke with normal rhythm. So.. the personwho probably was suppose to draw the most viewers, I'm guessing will bethe one who pushes them away instead. Either he goes, or has a completemakeover, or the show will be short-lived; that is my guess, at least!Criminal Minds original is probably the most believable, ingenious showever made in its category; a tough act to follow!
I liked the first episode somewhat mostly because I already had it mymind that I would like the show. When the this team first appeared onthe original Criminal Minds I liked them very much and thought "boy, Iwould like to see more of them" so it seemed like my wish was granted.Maybe I liked them so much on the original show because I enjoyed theinteraction of the two teams, especially Prentiss and Mick. After watching the first 5 episodes I just can't take it anymore.Forest Whitaker always seems distracted-like he's daydreaming-notfocusing on the case at hand. I do like him as an actor-thought he wasexcellent in "The Shield"-a really nasty piece of work character andalso in "Species" as the empath. However, the writers haven't fleshedout the characters quickly enough. Nothing to make the viewers like orcare about them. The detective work is shoddy. I found myself creating a better profilequicker than they did. Too bad, I really did want to like it, two hoursof quality Criminal Minds would have been awesome.
Poorly written with scripts that are at best, improbable. The story ideasaren't bad,but they are poorly written. The dialog is I'mguessing, supposed to be urgent and tense, but is merely rushed. There islittle empathy between the characters and no cohesion in the unit. It'slike every time they show up to work they're meeting each other for thefirst time. The acting is dismal-even Forest Whitaker turns in marredperformances. The premise of the show has promise, yet the writers andthe director(s?) churn out a very flawed product.I am surprised thatthis show has not been canceled yet.I will be further surprised if it'spicked up for a second season without drastic changes in front of,andbehind the camera.
I gave it a chance but I dislike it more with every episode I see.Thecharacters are very irritating for the most part.I normally like Forestbut this character is hard to watch ..repeating the plot over & over asit unfolds is insulting to the viewers. We are not as dumb as the TVexecs that came up with this obviously are.I have had my fill ofJaneane Garofalo as well ..Why she keeps getting these parts is beyondme ..She is always unbelievable in the role no matter how many timesshe plays the same part.If you write an episode where you kill hercharacter off maybe I'll come back for that one but not much else couldbring me back to this trash ..It's an insult to the "Criminal Minds"franchise name IMO.
Watching this is like watching the original Criminal Minds on fastforward. Everything moves at warp speed. One of the things I likedabout the original--the science--is totally absent. The worst aspect is the ridiculous conclusions the characters jump to,which since this is TV are never wrong. Just because someone putseyeballs on top of a stack of newspapers isn't a good enough reason toassume that one lousy obituary in that issue is relevant. "Oh, this guyhad surgery at the same hospital three weeks ago and he died from aStaph infection. These cases have to be connected!" Give me a break. Not everyone who watches is seven years old.Forest Whitaker's acting and dialogue are wooden and dull. Hischaracter has no character. What the heck is he supposed to be? The show is somewhat entertaining in its own right, but it can't hold acandle to the original Criminal Minds.
I was very disappointed with the first episode of this show and itseems this will be what show is about, a lesser version of trueCriminal Minds. Not a single character of this show is convincing, Forrest Whitaker hasseen far better roles then this one, as a team leader he is weak, notall too likable. Basically, this show is a copy of the real CriminalMinds, only far, far worse, actually it can't stand in the samesentence with the original show. Matt Ryan character, for example, youbasically couldn't understand what the guy is saying. In all honesty, I would be very surprised if this show survives thefirst season, it just isn't worth it.
Personally, I find the show quite good. I do have a few issues, however. Forest Whitaker is a wonderful actor, but not as a lead rolein a television series. He's extremely distracting - and it's notbecause of the eye. It's his voice. He constantly sounds like he's outof breath...ran a marathon to get to the scene. His sentence structureis also annoying. He pauses in odd places and the whole dialog soundsforced. I was excited when I heard he was going to be on the show, butnow...he's just annoying! There's too much time spent on him and notthe rest of the team, which doesn't make a balanced show. I realizeit's early though, so hopefully, the characters will flesh out more aswe go along.Secondly, Janeane Garofalo - I don't understand the hatred of the womanand the character. I personally love her. I think she's still trying tofind her feet with the character, but she's got the potential of beingquite amusing...of being the one person on the team who will just sayexactly what she thinks when she thinks it. I really like her and I'mwilling to give her a chance to settle in the role.As for the rest of the team, I like all of them. I'd like to see moreabout Prophet's past - Michael Kelly makes Prophet such a quiet, interesting character. Beau Garret is perfect for the role of Gina -she's got that no nonsense look about her - hair stuffed in a ponytail, little makeup. She really sells Gina as the real deal. And lastly, Matt Ryan as Mick Rawson. At first, I was put off because aBrit joining the FBI seemed like something created just for the show. Iadmit my ignorance in this matter - I didn't even know British citizenscould join the FBI...although maybe he's a naturalized citizen. I don'tknow, but I have to say I really, really, really like the character. He's cocky, cheeky and interesting. He's also gorgeous, which doesn'thurt. His accent isn't hard for me to understand, but I've heard lotsof Irish, Scottish and British. So, Mick is a nice all around packagefor me.Poor Garcia...she just seems like a fill in...she's there so theviewers have someone they know and love and the producers knew thatthose fans will follow her to a new show. I'd like to see her actuallyinteract with the team, not just via communication equipment. So, I give the show an 7 out of 10 and hope that it just keeps gettingbetter and better. Thanks for listening!!Frost
