When a New York City teenager from Greenwich Village, Lola Steppe, is forced to move to the New Jersery suburb of Dellwood, she finds that in her new high school, there is another girl, Carla Santini, who already has claim to the title of most popular girl (and most rudest) that Lola had at her old school. Aiming to oust Carla from her reign, Lola and her new best friend, Ella Gerard, sets her sights on nabbing the lead role in the next big school play Pygmalion, which Carla also hopes to star in. As the two girls engage in a war for popularity, Carla lashes back at Lola by obtaining tickets to the sold-out farewell concert of Lolas favorite band. Can Lola somehow sneak into the concert and quell Carlas latest scheme, and at the same time meet the bands English lead singer, Stu Wolff, whom she has such a crush on?

We have taken some photos of "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen". They represent actual movie quality.
I can't imagine why someone didn't remind the people responsible for thisfilm that in order to have a movie, you need a screenplay. The writing wasegregiously bad, the story was uncompelling and trite, the direction waslackluster, the editing was atrocious, and although the actors try valiantlynone of them come off at all well. Sometimes it's just bad casting - CarolKane has the ability to lower the overall quality of any film and whoeverthey cast as that rock star should definitely keep his day job. The snottypopular girl was wooden and looked like a model who just started takingacting classes. Lindsay Lohen, although a talented actress, was dressed likea 9th Avenue hooker and looked about 35 years old.On the Disney channel they hyped the hell out of this film, featuring thedirector prominently (who looked like the director Peter Sellars' annoyingyounger sister). I'm glad she had fun making the film, but instead ofmaking home movies during her shoot she might have paid more attention tothe complete and utter mess her film was turning out to be. Parents reallyresent being dragged to this kind of film, especially when there are filmsaround like Finding Nemo, which are actually entertaining foreveryone.
This is an OK teen flick and Lohan carries it decently enough on hertalented shoulders. She is a movie star in the best of Hollywoodtraditions: multi-talented, photogenic (the Marilyn Monroe scene isstriking) and underneath all that surface, a complicated personal life. The irony is not at all lost when Lohan's character, who finally getsher moments alone with the worshiped rock star, discovers that he is adrunk, says so out loud in repulsion. One wonders if a young teen boy, finding Lohan alone and inebriated in a bar booth would not make thesame observation. The saddest thing about these young, talented stars who sparkle sobrightly in their youth and then set towards a trajectory that can onlyhave them fall hard to the earth, is that it happens with suchregularity and predictability. They take their talent and success forgranted and, when it is lost, it usually is lost for good.I hope Lohan finds a fan who is as honest with her and, as in thismovie, as with the rock star, is touched and recovers her balance andstability and we, as audience, gain the benefits that her promisedemonstrated in these bubble gum movies.
i enjoyed this film very much, i don't think she gets a chance to really shine and show off her acting skills like in freaky friday, but nevertheless it was a watchable movie.
Look, I love Lindsey Lohan and I have all of her other movies, but this one is crap. Run far far away. Besides a plot in which things never even mentioned swing out like they've been built up all along about which the director apparently expects you to go "awww" its just very 1 dimensional and not lindseys best preformance. If you would like to watch a movie that gives you no feeling for the protaganist other than hate and pity, watch this movie.
"Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" is the story of Lola Cep, played byLindsey Lohan, trying to fit into a new town and school after moving fromNew York. She wants to be an actress and she creates dramatic storiesabouther life and like some teen aged girls she gets over dramatic about theevents happening around her. It is all part of her attempt to be moreinteresting.I really thought the movie could have been better.Lohan does a great job playing the "drama queen" and for the most part hercharacter is believable. Her new friend Ella, played by Alison Pill, is the nice rich girl whileCarla, played by Megan Fox, is the nasty bitch rich girl and Lola's mainnemesis.I was in drama club in high school and those scenes did seem believable asthe group is preparing for the school musical. In fact, one year, we had afreshman girl beat our the senior girl for the lead in our school play.Thatcaused a lot of issues just like those shown in the film. Carol Kane'sMissBaggoli was a bit too loopy but my drama directors could bestrange. The problem was the story. The main theme of the movie, as I saw it, was Lola building this fantasyworld for her life, having it crash down as lie built upon lie doeseventually, then comes redemption and she becomes a better person for itinthe end. Lola learns she can be interesting just beingherself. That is a nice film in itself. Unfortunately, the filmmakers couldn'tleaveit alone and added an unneeded big city adventure for Lola and Ella. It isunderstandable since we need someway to have Lola's interesting fake lifeuncovered but it led to an unbelievable situation when she meets her rockstar obsession. I kept expecting her and Ella to get into one zany scrapeafter another, but that didn't happen. If you are going to waste filmshooting in the big city at least have something majorhappen. The other issue was one of theme. If the theme is that lying to make oneself interesting will bringretribution - in this case Lola's humiliation in front of her classmates, then the ending of the film didn't fit the theme. I guess it was justDisney's way of getting a happy ending but the stories Lola created weresohuge it was not believable that she got what she wanted in the end. Sheturns out to be really no better than Carla, who gets what she wantsbecauseshe thinks she deserves it.Lola was far too lucky. A little realism would have beennice.Lindsey Lohan showed a spark that could lead her to better roles. I reallythink that she could be a big star a few years from now. She shined inthismovie and was by far the best part of it, bad script and all. I thinkyearsfrom now people will be saying "Hilary who?"Personally I thought the most interesting supporting character was CalumCep, Lola's dad, played by Tom McCamus. Those of us who watch sci-fi showsproduced in Canada may know McCamus from his role as Mason Eckhart on the"Mutant X" television series.
I give this movie an A+, it was great. so down to earth...I love it, it was really funny and amusing at the same time. when i was in the theatre everybody was laughing and i can see the people how they reacted to it...'everybody was happy!
I saw this movie recently and and about 10 minutes into it I turned it off. I think this was the worst movie ever. The commercials made it seem so good. Boy was I fooled.
not much i can say about this movie except excellent! i definately recommend this movie to everyone, young and old.
This movie was good. A movie about two girls who have something in common and Lindsay Lohan is a very entertaining actress (not to mention very atractive). It was a good movie because it showed how people can have fun no matter what they do. No matter if they walk through the rain down 74 blocks in New York City. It shared the hope of getting what you always dreamed.I liked the dream sequences. They were so weird and very creative. It is a movie worth a watch. But if you are not into this "friend" type movies you shouldn't see it.
By the last half hour of the movie, I wanted to bang my head against awall.I love Lindsay Lohan, and I thought she was great in Freaky Friday, andmaybe the reason she annoyed me so much in this movie was the fact thatshewas TOO good. She really was a drama queen. As for the movie, randomfantasy scenes with cartoonish seventies figures and background everywherewas truly irritating. Also, her outfits in the film were so horriblyhideous. I suppose this movie was amusing, but still, the word thatdescribes it best is "annoying".
I saw this movie about 5 years ago, and didn't like it too well. A few days ago, I saw it on tv and decided to give it a 2nd chance. I like it a lot better now, than when I saw it back in '04. Sexy beautiful Lindsay Lohan does an awesome job! She plays Mary "Lola" Stepp who is forced to move with her family to New Jersey. She makes friends with a girl named Ella, who loves the same band that Lola does, Sidarthur. They become really depressed when they find out that the band is breaking up, and try to go to their last concert. They get into a lot of crazy misadventures. I highly recommend CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN!!!
Well, it deserves a million stars for the sexy Megan Fox, Lohan's rival in this... but the movie itself. I want to punch it through to the next generation of crap! This movie would have been infinite times better if when Fox was dance dance revolutioning against Lohan, that she jumped up and kicked Lohan to her stupid fat friend and lame boy friend. This movie is the stupidest movie ever!Lohan is fine in Mean Girls. In this one, she is the most annoying piece of turd ever created!
I have to admit I enjoyed this movie. I resisted renting it for a long time because I really didn't think it would be something I would enjoy. I loved the way Lindsay Lohan's dialogue was so in keeping with being a "drama queen." How many other movies can use the line "the best poet since shakespeare" that many times? I was a little disappointed in Carol Kane's performance, but a lot of that was because I know how good she can be. All in all, this was an enjoyable movie, as long as you aren't looking for an Oscar caliber movie.
I just caught this film on TV...Interestingly enough it is airing as Lindsey's current film tanks at the box office and she faces building legal trouble after arrest. Can someone explain to me why in that past few years so much money has been wasted on building this spoiled girls career. I have yet to see the brilliant talent she was ever hailed to have had. Aside from that, this film is trite, cliched, and pandering to any audience that may concede to view it. I am glad I never paid to see this either in the theater or rental. It is clear that an unoriginal idea was mildly revamped and poorly directed to be a cash flow vehicle for its star; even working in a music aspect to push that side of a career for Miss Lohan. What a mess it turned out to be.
This movie had no plot, no moral, no point, no character development, andLindsay Lohan's character was a pathological liar. The movie encourageskids to sneak into concerts, walk around the streets of NYC at midnight, andlie to your parents. I would have rather seen 50 first dates again.
I wasn't really impressed by this movie; it's pretty much your standardteenage film. The plot revolves around a girl from New York City whomoves to somewhere in Jersey and then attempts a new school. She is fanof a band who breaks up and they give a final concert with an afterparty. Now without many spoilers I will summon up the plot for you real quick.Desperate to go to the concert she and her friend try all the teenageclichés and so many things we have seen before to get in. She finallymeets her idol, the singer of the band and comments him on his alcoholaddiction. We can all predict the outcome of the film from a mile away. There is also a subplot with a High School play. Where is trying to getthe lead part. The acting isn't impressive but I have seen worse. Lindsey Lohan playedbetter in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. Which were also better moviesby the way.In the end this is just another Disney high school movie, wherepopularity stands central and predictability is inevitable. Some peoplemight enjoy this, but for the majority of the moviegoers this is amajor let down. Grade 4/10
This movie was really excellent and great for teenagers. I know my friends and I got a laugh out of this movie.
In "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" - which hits what is surely a new low in dreadful "Clueless" clones - Lindsay Lohan plays a 15-year old girl who suffers what the filmmakers obviously see as a fate worse than death: being forced to move from New York City to suburban New Jersey (from the way she carries on, one would think her mother were dragging her off to live in Iraq or Afghanistan). Once she hits school in this alien world, the ditzy teen with dreams of becoming a serious actress makes instant enemies of the requisite Class Bitch, who does everything in her power to sabotage Lola's efforts at taking her rightful place among the snooty "in" crowd on campus. Lola and her straight-as-an-arrow, plain Jane girlfriend also wreak havoc in Manhattan when they attempt to crash a party hosted by a third-rate rock'n'roll band they both idolize (ah for the days of "The World of Henry Orient" once again!).It's hard to convey in words just how jaw-droppingly bad this film truly is. The writing, acting and staging all fall far below even the most minimal standards for rudimentary moviemaking, with all of the characters so ridiculous and overdrawn that they fail to rise even to the level of stereotypes. In fact, the average high school film class production is superior to this movie in every conceivable respect.I realize that I am not exactly the target audience for this film, but I would never sell teenaged girls in this country so short by suggesting that even they would be amused by this travesty. One element of the "plot" involves Lola starring as Eliza Doolittle in a preposterously bad high school musical version of "Pygmalion." My suggestion to all those young ladies out there is to skip this film entirely(...).
this movie is really lame. Mary this character is ok, but Lohan is pretty annoying. The rock band sucks, New York sucks, story sucks, music sucks. damn... I even heard a Simple Plan song in it. Nope!
Confessions of a Teenage Drama QueenMary (Lindsay Lohan), who likes to be now called Lola, is being movedfrom New York, along with her younger twin sisters by their mum, Karen(Glenn Headly). They move to Dellwood, New Jersey, which Lola kindlycalled 'Deadwood', where they know no one. Lola doesn't care whatanyone thinks: what she wears, what she says - just as long as she getsthe attention. The only thing she can rely on is her favourite band,Sidartha. Though the lead band member, Stu Wolff (Adam Garcia) is heridol, whom she adores - she owns a huge poster which covers her wall.On her first day at school, Lola meets Ella (Alison Pill), who is aperson who keeps to herself a lot. But then Lola meets Carla (MeganFox) and her friends. They are at the opposite end of the scale - thepopular crowd. So as the day goes on, Lola finds out that the school isputting on a play. Of cause, Lola auditions for the lead against Carla. All hell breaks loose between the two when Lola gets the part. Thoughas she practices her lines. Lola and Ell find out that Sidartha arebreaking up and are performing a farewell concert in NY.Will Lola and Ella get to see Sidartha in their final concert ever? Also will Lola shine in her first school production as the lead, orwill she be humiliated? My opinion...I quite enjoyed this movie. It was one which you could just sit andenjoy the story without thinking too much. Lindsay once again provesshe can sing just as good as Hilary Duff on screen. She actually beatHilary for the lead in the movie. Lindsay was funny in the role ofLola: was able to express what she was feeling - take the situation toa whole new level by taking it to the extreme; and really fight whatshe believed in in her individual way. Lola brought the best out ofAllison's character, Ella. She was once shy and lacked confidence, butthen as the movie went on, Ella came out of her shell a lot. The musicwas catching and found myself many a time, tapping my foot to thesongs, especially the ones in the school play. Can't wait to hear theactual soundtrack.6/10
