A wild weekend is in store for three high school seniors who visit a local college campus as prospective freshmen.
College is 100% funny! I checked it out during the screening, and mybuddy and I laughed the entire time! We usually get a kick out of theaverage teen movie, but this one was way more than expected. It wentabove and beyond in humor and the best part was that it was smart andwitty. Not lame and repetitive. One of my main complaints with teenmovies these days is they could be really good, except instead theychoose to make the same jokes, write the same story line and have thesame characters over and over again! I'm sick of it! But don't misjudgethis one by the unfortunate movies of the past. College is differentand I promise you will love it. And just and FYI, Kevin Covias (thechicken little kid from American Idol) is one of the strongest actorsin the film. He did a great job, surprisingly. He should stick toacting :).
Zippy, lightweight, raucously silly, and embracing of its well-earned R rating, College doesn't pretend to be deep or anything more than it is: a you-are-there portrayal of three high schoolers let loose on a hard-partying university campus.
To be honest i disagree with all people who said this was awful I willadmit it is VERY similar to super bad/American pie beta house with the3 boys 1 being a bit geeky and like mclovin n a fat one which remindsme of coose (even tho coose wasn't fat) off beta house for some reasonbut i really like those types of films i don't think its as bad aspeople make it out to be i wouldn't say its an excellent film but itsdefinitely watchableits not exactly laugh out loud funny but it does has some funny bits init i do recommend it if u are a massive fan of beta house and othersimilar films. overall i would give this film a 6/10.
Crude, boorish comedy doesn't make the grade.
If you hear someone deriding Superbad for being unoriginal or derivative, sit them in front of College. If they can't tell the difference, they're a lost cause.
I got an account with IMDb just so I could post on here how bad Ithought this movie was. I never review movies but I had to let everyoneknow how bad this thing is and hopefully nobody else will waste theirhard-earned money on this trash. Horrible acting, horrible plot, horrible everything.Only in a movie will the fat, annoying loser hook up with the hottestgirl at "college." This was a gross mis-representation of college. Somepeople do get stuff written on their face; I wont lie, that doeshappen. But fat uglies do not hook up with hot blondes. Also I don't think that you should have an actor from a Nickelodeonsitcom try to act in a comedy about "college."In closing, I really wish I could get a refund for the money I spent onthis horrible movie. I hope nobody else makes the same mistake I did.
Wow this movie has some crazy reviews, from the industry planted greatreviews to the ticked-off 1/10s. While this movie was nowhere near agreat movie, it wasn't that bad.A lot of you compared this movie to Superbad and those movies, but Ithink you all missed on the best comparison. This movie is basically abarely better version of American Pie: The Naked Mile. Many aspects ofthe film are right on, including quality of the script, actors, andpretty much everything else.Since IMDb is the end-all and The Naked Mile received a 5.0, I givethis movie a 6.0 for barely being better than the straight to DVDrelease.
The plot of this movie was three desperate high school kids trying tolive it up in the waning months of their senior year. There was thenormal, but boring and sensitive main character, the skinny, pale nerdwho was dragged along for the ride, and last, but not least, the fatdouche bag friend who attempted to make up new, cuss-filled andderogatory insults to everyone throughout the film. The characters gothrough some wild times, only to have an all out realization toward theend of the movie. By the way, if you think I am talking about Superbad, you are wrong. This movie is a redundant and pathetic attempt at thenext American Pie or Animal House. The setting too, was highly similarto many of the movies it tried to live up with; giving the film manyqualities of such movies, but just not the one it is meant tohave...humor. Put it this way, I was happy I did not have to pay tosee.
I saw this on iTunes and thought it may be funny. I haven't liked any of the national lampoons movies that have come out lately. Actually I didn't even like Animal House. That was before my time though. I'm only 23. Ok enough talking about random things. Here is my review of the movie.Firstly let me say that I have never heard of any of the actors in this movie. I think that really helped. Sometimes is good to know the actors in movies. Other times though, I think it's good to have nothing to compare them to. The main actors in this movie are Drake Bell, Andrew Caldwell, Andree Moss, Carolyn Moss, Wendy Talley and Kevin Covais. One of the guys in this movie looks just like Johnny noxville some of the time and looks and acts like Robert Downey Jr. other times. Ok, though I have never seen any of these actors in anything. I think they do a pretty good job on this movie. They seem a little rough around the edges. This makes the movie even better. Rather than taking an actor that does a certin type of comedy that we all know and are used to. They bring these guys. Nice job!The movie is about 3 friends. Two are going to check out a college together. One of them has set everything up and he needs to go so his parents leave him alone. The other is looking forward to seeing the college also. They have a third friend who tells them there losers and that he isn't going. That is until another guy comes and tells them about the great things that have happened to him when he went to a college. The third boy now wants to go. So off they are. They were all ready to stay in this dorm. Thanks to the one friend who set it all up. When they get there and go into the room though.... The guy there is doing something. I won't say what. But they choose not to stay there. So one of them has a brother that used to go to this frat. They go there and ask if they can say. Eventually they get to sleep there. There stay does not come easy. The frat guy all haze them and try to make there life as hard as possible. The stuff that they do is pretty funny. The main boy in the frat takes getting used to though. He does lines from various movies and even a cartoon. I didn't know what I was supposed to see him as. Eventually they think of a way to get back at the frat house for everything that have been through. So, why the 3 out of 5? I'll tell you why. First of all the movie played for like 1:30:55. At about 1:17 they realize that they can get back at the frat. I thought that's what the movie was about. But they try to fit so much in, in such a short amount of time, that it just feels rushed. It kind of goes through some of the parts very fast. Like showing them doing stuff while playing music. Second, a couple of the actors have so many personalities. I didn't know what kind of person they were supposed to be. They did leave it open for another movie though. So let's hope they make another, that fixes the few small problems that this one had.
HELLLLLLLS yeah this @!%* was funny- Rating the story? C'mawn you know what you gonna get with Penthouse Pets at a Frat house. Acting and all that- it's all good- no oscar, but for a coming of age raunchy comedy that offends everyone - this @!%* made us LAUGH...
Best of Animal House, American Pie, and Super Bad, but raunchier! I agree with this reviewer... check out [ http://www.einsiders.com/reviews/dvd/show_dvd.php?review_dvd=1962 ]. College was hot!
This movie is so misjudged!!! When I hear people talking about it theyseem to think it's just another teenage or "tween" movie. IT'S NOT! Isaw College during a screening and it was raunchy! I loved it! It's abeer drinkin', "t & a", partin', awesome movie! There are girls makingout, girls in bikini's...and it's hilarious! It's a story of 3 highschool kids who visit college for the weekend and all the crazy thingsthat happened to them along the way. This is where the tag: "bestweekend ever" comes in. I loved the masturbating dorm-mate wearing the-my peace is growing- t shirt. Anyway, awesome movie, go see it, youwont be disappointed and you'll laugh your butt off!
Just saw it and i thought it was one of the funnier movies ive seen recently! Definitely worth the trip to the theaters! The fat kid is a riot... he really puts down that chicken little kid!
I'm not going to go in detail on this movie like most reviews, cause this movie is so terrible that it doesn't need to take anymore time from my life. Quite plain and simple, pass on this movie. It sucked BAD! I can't explain how awful it was. It seemed like a k-mart version Super Bad. No wait, more like a Dollar Store version. Just plain crap. I gave it one star, because I couldn't give it 0 stars. It's so bad, it's not even pirate worthy.
Words can not describe how bad this movie was. I love movies. I LOVEcomedies and I have never in my life seen a movie this obvious anduninteresting. I think this movie looked so bad coming out this is NOTan exaggeration, Me and one of my friends went into the theatre beforeour movie started to see how bad it really was. The characters werestolen from other movies and frankly, stolen poorly. Drake Bell was soembarrassing and the crew was WAY too old to be in college or even inhigh school. I honestly suggest people see this movie just to see whatit's like. It is the Scarface or Godfather of bad movies. I could keepgoing all night long about how stupid this movie was but summation -the people that made this movie should be embarrassed and should neverbe in film again, but I also think people should see it just to knowhow stupid it really was. Wow.
To start, I didn't think this movie was abysmal. Sure, it was terriblein most every way possible -- I didn't care for the characters, nobodywith acting skill was used, and the plot was thinner than a coked-upsupermodel. The cast was lifted straight from another,already-mentioned movie. The introduction completely plagiarized adifferent movie. Verne Troyer's unnecessary appearance perpetuates twomore things: the film's budget was grossly mis-allocated and Troyer'scareer is dying painfully. In fact, I cannot think of one redeeming quality for this movie. Butwith new director and new production crew I could give it a "niceeffort" at best. I was actually going to rate this three stars. Then I just read the last two pages of these comments. These guys, thefilm crew (or whoever hired people to write these reviews), seriouslyare douche bags. All of the reviews are quite obviously planted --written in almost precisely the same tone, and tout how fantastic andsmart this movie is. Comparable to the well-written classics, let aloneexude superiority? Not even close. The fat kid is not the next ChrisFarley. Drake Bell should stick with kids' shows (maybe he'll be thenext quasi-boring Jason Bateman in 30 years). Chicken Little got alucky break with an acting job from his 15 minutes of fame.If the crew had any sense whatsoever, they would not have written adozen or so ten-star reviews prior to the film's release. Maybe then wewouldn't have had such high expectations for the movie, or becompletely biased against them.
Lmao OK so I've been seeing some bad comments about this movie. I don'tbelieve that no one has enjoyed it so here goes, a little bit of my ownsummary. This movie isn't that bad. It is sort of unrealistic in some sceneswhich actually add to the movie being good in my opinion as opposed toit being bad. I think that the really unrealistic part is that the fratguys are so mean to the three characters but it's all in good fun and Ican see the humor in this movie. I strongly recommend that you watchthis movie if you're under 18 to get a false sense of college and tomake you really want to go there. It's similar to Naked Mile and thoseother types of movies. If you're in college/university you'll probably be bored because itdoesn't really reflect the whole "experience" properly. If you want tohave a good laugh I really recommend watching it. I liked it so much Ihave watched it 7 times already.
This comedy is about three high school teenager's wild adventure at Fieldmont University, where they run into trouble and cause mayhem. Meeting cute girls and partying wasn't there only obstacle at this weekend trip...
This movie relies too heavily on nudity and hot chicks who are scriptedas being "easy". I was in a frat in college - a real party frat, too -and it wasn't anything like this.* There aren't A-List celebrity musicians playing at the frat party. *Girls don't randomly flash each guy as he walks through the door. *There aren't topless waitresses serving perfect martinis on a tray.I feel like this is some 40-year-old's idea of what he *wished* hisfrat life is like. I'm not even sure if the writer was actually ever ina fraternity. The only reason I gave this movie any points is because from atechnical standpoint the lighting, camera-work and set design are okay.Honestly, the production wasn't bad - but the script SUCKED. If theycut their naked girls budget by 25% and spent the money on anotherscriptwriter instead, this could have been a decent movie. Instead theywent with two first-time writers that must have just gotten their WGAcards a few weeks ago.I hope they try and improve their skills! Don't give up after one badscript - maybe it was the studio's fault.
When I first saw previews, TV spots, advertising's, etc. for college Ithought that they were just over hyping another overrated movie. Ithought that College would be a decent comedy for late August, butstill I did not expect it to be such a comedy classic as the previewsproclaimed. The TV spots tried to put this movie into the category ofsuch classics like Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds and American Pie,which it is by-far none of those at all. I went to see this with somefriends thinking that this would be a decent time filler before we wentto a bar later in the night, boy were we wrong. This movie sucked fromstart to finish. The college realisticness is truly unbelievable andthe characters get on your nerves. Drake Bell should go back to hisTeen Choice award crap and stay out of the Rated R comedy genre for awhile, because they pushed him into a Rated R party movie way toooooooofast and he wasn't good at it. The fat kid tries so hard to be funnythat he really gets on your last nerve. That is all this is, a bunch ofdrunk partying that has already been done before and lame jokes thatcould have been thought of by preschool students. So don't waste yourtime with this and watch Superbad, Dazed and Confused, Fast Times atRidgemont High, Animal House or anything that is actually a good partymovie.1/10
