After Chicken Little causes widespread panic--when he mistakes a falling acorn for a piece of the sky--the young chicken is determined to restore his reputation. But just as things are starting to go his way, a real piece of the sky lands on his head. Chicken Little and his band of misfit friends, Abby Mallard (aka Ugly Duckling), Runt of the Litter and Fish Out of Water, attempt to save the world without sending the town into a whole new panic.
It loses some of its emotional punch as the plot complications pile up.
Do Americans dislike movies like Shark Tale and Chicken Little? I don'tknow but I enjoy both of them. Sure they are not Pixar quality but theyare close. Both Shark Tale and Chicken Little are funny and have a goodmessage for the children. Chicken Little offers lots of laughs to theolder audience and children alike. The movie also has lots of cute andfluffy animals for people like me who enjoy cuteness. Also thecharacters are likable and adorable. Surprisingly the three eyed alienkid maybe rising above the rest in the cute-o-meter. The movie has goodmusic that fits the scenes. Treadful ballads of Phil Collins wouldn'tfit this one as this is more a fun movie for kids and adults than a"serious" kids movie. In the end Chicken Little's message is: Parentsshould listen their children.
Only a singularly subversive sidekick, a Streisand-obsessed porker (Zahn), makes this movie stand out from a host of other mediocre animated kids' flicks.
Maybe this is why I gave it a unusually high grade. This wasn't awfuland it was mildly entertaining for adults. My wife enjoyed it a lotespecially the forced music sequences. The music seemed oddly out ofplace but it worked like hammering a nail with a shoe. This is by far a better all around movie than Robots (the worstanimated movie ever), Madagascar (if it weren't for the penguins Iwould've left with my kids) and Shrek 2.It kept my 3 year old boy's attention but my 5 year old daughter wasscared and whined a lot when the aliens appeared. This aspect ruinedthe movie experienced for me.
I took my 7 and 9 year old sons to see this movie on Saturday. Thetheater was packed, this was obviously a popular movie on it's openingweekend. To be honest, we LOVED this movie. The visuals were stunning, the jokes were funny, the soundtrack was amazing, and the plot wasgreat...with a great message throughout the movie. This is a movie youdon't have to be scared to take your kids to, there are no underlying"sexual" references. It is a good, clean, Disney movie. We can't waitto see it again, and I might just fork over the money to see it in thetheater again! We will definitely be buying this one on DVD. Pleasedon't listen to the critics! I don't know which movie they werewatching (shame on you Ebert and Roeper!), but this movie had my kidsand myself busting out laughing and crying. A true winner! Two thumbsup!
An OK Disney film.I did not think it was as bad as I had heard it was supposed to be.Made the story for today's audience, other wise getting points of view across not an enjoyable story to live through the ages & can be enjoyed by an audience 20 or 30 years from now, just for today`s audience. Reminds me of Brother Bear.A BIG disappointment , however, was the LACK of a Disney soundtrack. What I mean here is rerecordings of older pop songs. That was a shame.
A movie such as this must be graded on its own merits, not on those of another film: simply because it's unlike most other films. The story, I thought to be very creative, I liked how they breathed new life into an old tale. "Chicken Little" is a great kid's movie, one that parents won't mind having to sit through, as they're going to pick up just as much adult humor woven into the story as their children will elementary humor. The story bears a great moral and emphasizes family values and openness between parents and their children: something we could never use too much of, especially with our nation's status quo.The visuals were "outstanding", and once combined with the story make for a very memorable movie going experience. If you have children, even older children who are mature enough to admit they will enjoy the film, you should go to see "Chicken Little".
This is yet another of those recently-made animated films that isoutstanding. They ("Polar Express," "Robots," "Cars," "Madagascar,""Barnyard," "Ice Age," etc.) all seem to have the following positivecharacteristics that I found in this movie:1 - Fabulous colors; 2 - Great artwork; 3 - likable, humorouscharacters who care about; 4 - excellent jokes, both visually andaudibly, many that make adults laugh; 5 - excellent surround sound thatis entertaining in itself; and 6 - a nice story without a lot of sexualinnuendos and other questionable (for kids) material. Like the old"Leave It To Beaver" TV show, these animated films also end with apositive message for kids and adults. In fact, I would say that I - as an older adult - have seen more goodanimated feature films in the past two years than the previous 50 yearsput together. The main character in this movie, "Chicken Little" (voiced by ZachBraff) has to be one of the cutest little animated figures I've everseen. I smiled almost every time they had a closeup of his face withthose green glasses. The colors in this film are very bold and bright, sometimes making myjaw drop. Also, here's another example of a animated movie where thereare so many things to see - meaning clever, funny things in thebackground - you can't possibly catch them all. An added highlight isthat this story plays homage, or pokes fun at, previous science-fictionfilms. How many tongue-in-cheek references can you find to sci-fimovies?The only complaint I have, and it's minor, is that they could have useda lull or two in the last 30 minutes of this. It's almost too muchaction but at an overall running time of less than 80 minutes (I'm notincluding the ending credits), the time is manageable. Overall, this is another winner. Good stuff!
After seeing this movie, it seemed to me that its origins may have beenin a production studio game wherein someone said, "Here's a title, comeup with the best screenplay you can in 45 minutes and we'll startproduction." The story is terrible. The jokes are tired and not funny. It certainly does not approach family films like Shrek and evenMadagascar. It is not simply that the movie is unappealing to parents,my children were bored with it after about a half an hour. The movie isalso a bit scary for very young children. The only reason I didn't vote"1" is because of the film's technical merit. Disney would be wise tospend a little more time on the story before hitting the computers.
If I told you that "Chicken Little" was as awful as "Barnyard: The Original Party Animals," then you probably wouldn't believe me. Well, believe me when I say that it's not nearly as atrocious as "Barnyard," but it's just as annoying. And MAN, was it annoying! I mean, I was annoyed not only by this movie, but annoyed by the fact that this was in fact made by Disney. This is a terrible CGI-animated film that has nothing special to offer. The basic storyline is adapted from the popular children's fable of the same name, but with a twist. Instead of an acorn, it's an actual piece of sky that has fallen....actually, it's a piece of a UFO which turns invisible. It's an interesting premise, but the rest of the movie fails to deliver. One of the biggest problems with "Chicken Little" is that it lacks substance and intrigue, even as an animated comedy. In "Toy Story" and "Monsters Inc.," there was a certain kind of intelligence that dominated the story, and that's what makes them truly special and unique. Here, in "Chicken Little," there is no wit, no charm, and no originality whatsoever. I blame the writers for this, for the director would have created a masterpiece if the script actually had something good in it. The characters are even worse. I could care less for these anthropomorphic people: they are just plain annoying! From the Ugly Duckling to Runt of the Litter, they just bring more and more pain. And Chicken Little himself? I don't care for him, either. Aren't you supposed to make the main protagonist interesting and likable? Well, sadly, it doesn't happen here. And speaking of characters, why are we still choosing celebrities to do voice work? I mean, sure, Zach Braff, Joan Cusack, and Garry Marshall are great actors, but this is NOT their specialty. A majority of the characters are miscast, especially the main character. Why does Chicken Little sound like an adult when he's supposed to be a kid? Did the creators think we're stupid? But the absolute worst thing about this CGI atrocity is the lack of humor. This entire film tries too hard to be a family-friendly comedy: the verbal jokes and sight gags are forced and unfunny. It reminded me of "Barnyard," and how painfully unfunny that movie was as well. Maybe kids will find it hilarious, but adults like me will definitely not. When I saw that Ebert & Roeper gave this film Two Thumbs Down, I admired them for a moment there. That is what I felt like while watching this film. I will give Chicken Little credit, though, for adding a little twist to the famous fable. It could have been handled almost perfectly, but it simply fails as a result. It's a horribly irritating piece of filth, and I was never entertained by it. What a poor excuse for an animated film.Grade: F
My kids love this movie and were blown away when they saw it in HD.
Just what one would expect. Fun if you are looking to take your girlfriend or your children. This movie has a good sense of family movie and it has actually some funny scenes!!!In short, expect not hard core violence or some rated pg-13 plot, but a happy maybe slow movie for people all ages!
Although the 3D is top notch, the voice acting is marginal and the story is borderline ridiculous. Unlike Pixar movies, this has little to no inuendo and will only appeal to children (or very immature adults). As far as strictly childrens movies are concerned I give it 4 stars- for anyone else I give it 2 stars.
This movie is very entertaining for my 3 yr. old grandson, and for his grandparents as well. The story is easy to follow, moves along to keep our attention, and the characters are endearing. There are morals to the story, like, don't doubt yourself, stick with your good friends, parents aren't perfect, etc. There are lots of quick comments and jokes that keep us amused (through the many replays).I'd recommend it to anyone with children.
Um...yeah; As the summary stated before, the only movie reference Iimmediately picked up was "Signs," and (now that I remember) King Kong(where Fish made a tower of Abby's mags and where Buck and CL were onthe town hall building.) I'm definitely positive that the aliens'landing and the stadium lights going out was a reference or two to"Independence Day," but it's been a long time since I've seen that one,so anyone kind enough to remind me of what parts they got that fromwould be greatly appreciated. :D Like, what part of Indepence Day didthey get the stadium lights from, and the UFO's lights reflecting inAbby's eyes, her petrified state, etc. (I'm just trying to fill in theminimum line rule now, so just go with it.)
Hi there, first posting from me here. First of all this is a greatmovie to watch and to enjoy. I can't understand people who are annoyedby the script, by the jokes, by the music etc. If you don't like thatstuff, it's certain that you are grown up, forgot what is just enjoyinga movie - forget all the special effects by Pixas, all theOscar-made-scripts-movies. I admit that it has some weak points - like:- it is a short film - the story is a little bit flat - and it's reallya short film :) All the other things are OK, voices, jokes, music - iliked the karaoke, all the old hits(that's a personal opinion, mymusic), funny moments. So watch this film, won't forget it.
I was pleased with this one. It was a lot of fun. I liked how they used popular songs to spice up the plot-line a bit. I thought it was cute to watch a huge hog sing Wannabee, by the Spice Girls. That was pretty funny. The story kind of fell a bit midway through. Seems like the writers ran out of gas and ideas. But it concluded well.MC White said: Two Wings Way Up!
What is this film about? What is the real plot of this film? Yes itsthe whole is the sky falling idea, but this film drifts in and out ofso many different other plots that its hard to really know whats goingon. The plot has Chicken Little being hit on the head by something andcausing panic in the town because he says the sky is falling. Nothingcomes of it other than chaos and a year later he's an outcast. The plotwanders through an outcast story line for while before the aliens showup and we get a Disney version of an alien invasion story...which leadsback to the events of a year earlier. It all fits together but its not neat. Along the way we have subplotsand throw away gags some of which work, but most of which just sort oflay there. In a weird sort of way its as if they were trying to makethree different movies and then upon finding they could only make onedecided to mix all three together. Its a mess.Making matters worse is the voice casting, which is mostly awful, who'sidea was Garry Marshall as Little's dad? I hate everyone's performance, which matches the mostly awful character design.I could go on and on about what doesn't work, but I'd rather tell youabout what does. The film finally hits its stride when the aliensarrive. Its wild and wacky in a Looney Tunes sort of way. There areseveral great small moments, Little stopping to say a sweet thing toAbby Mallard was perfect, as was the use of Ain't no Mountain HighEnough. There are small moments that lead me to think that in betterhands this could have been a great film.Wait for cable, where its numerous flaws will be more forgivable.
This is a CGI Disney movie. It is cute, funny, and a nice little movie.A few flaws rest in it though. It is about a chicken who is hit in thehead by an acorn, well he has a conniption, claiming that the sky isfalling, alarming the disbelieving town. The townspeople find out hejust has an overactive imagination, and they think he is just a foolishlittle chicken. Well later in the movie him and his friends find outaliens are invading, so they stop them in the end. That's it really. Ilike this movie a lot, but its silliness annoys me a bit. If you likekiddie movies like this one, be my guest and see it. Otherwise, youprobably will not like this movie, so don't bother with it then.8/10 or: B
I LOVED this Film! It was excellent! I found it comparable to Shrek 2with it's great use of song to compliment the story line and greatcultural references for the older audience. Go see this immediately! You'll fall in love with Fish Out of Water and of Corse Chicken Little. Those in a audience who thought they were "too hip" to be at thescreening suddenly joined in, shouting encouragements to the screen, Ikid you not! I'm not one to laugh out loud at a film and yet I foundmyself doing so several times. There is one or 2 scenes that thekiddies might be anxious about but nothing that they can't handle ifthey sat through Finding Nemo. I think it's a great effort from Disney.Way to go! :)
