We have taken some photos of "Casper Meets Wendy". They represent actual movie quality.
Four words, I love Hilary Duff.Even though Hilary was only 11 yrs old in this movie she was a great actress. This was the second movie she did. She just looks so cute as Wendy and she was a great choice and I love the story that she tells about when she was on set and there was a goat there named Meaner and they were shooting a scene and the director kept yelling Meaner Meaner and Hilary thought he was talking to her so she made a mean face and tried to be meaner and that story makes me laugh every time.I recommend this to anyone who loves a good family movie. I am a little older then Hilary is now but I remember watching this when I was younger and just loved it and I still consider it one of my favorites.Just keep doing what you do best Hilary, because you Rock!!!!
this is a grrrrrrreat movie! she's a wonderful actress!!! and do NOT listen to the other review that says she stinks, because she rocks! she is a very successful young actress and is admired by millions. she rox!
I puked when i watched it. I mean was it supposed to be good? Ewww it was so horrible! Dreadful. Never watch this movie! Hear me!
this movie was great because hilary duff is such a great actor! and do NOT listen to anyone who says that she stinks because she rocks!she's a very successful young actor and is admired by millions. she is wonderful! it deserves weigh, weigh more than 5 stars!
This review is from: Casper Meets Wendy (DVD) It was as advertised. Quality was good, everything was just fine as usual. Especially the time it takes to receive my movies. Plus the fact that I can track my items from start to finish. I really like that.
Being 16, I have lived through the first Casper and the horrid sequels. While I think that the first Casper mildly creeped me out when I was younger, and that majority of the sequels following that were horrible, I think that making Casper Meets Wendy was a great recovery for the creators of the original Casper. Bringing together well-known older actresses was a great choice, making it entertaining to see them in such whimsical roles, while Hilary Duff did a great job on one of her first acting jobs. While some of the one-liners may leave you rolling your eyes, it is a great childrens movie and will keep parents entertained as well.
My 4-year old son was thrilled when "Casper Meets Wendy" arrived at our door. We had been looking for it in every store known to man since last Halloween (when he first saw it)! I'd given up hope until it dawned on me to check Amazon.com. Wish I had done it sooner, that's for sure! The DVD came sooner than I expected, if you can believe that, was in perfect condition and was thouroghly enjoyed by my son.
One early Sunday evening at my house, the television lineup was so very, very boring that the only two things on that I'd even HEARD of were "B*stardOut of Carolina" and this. I have seen Jena Malone several more times than Iwould have preferred, and plus, I had already missed the beginnings of bothfilms, so I actually chose "Casper Meets Wendy" thinking it would be themore entertaining of the two. Wrong!"Casper Meets Wendy" entertained me for exactly 0 seconds. Subjected to thetortures of cheap-looking film making--particularly the lighting and soundqualities, bumbling villians, dull remaining characters, and Hilary Duffspeaking like she swallowed about fifty tanks of helium and acting verycutesy and annoying, and I had the TV turned to stupid "B*stard Out ofCarolina" in about five seconds. I didn't like that one either, but everytime I tried to turn it back to "Casper Meets Wendy" I felt like I waslosing my vision and hearing(sometimes movies might be poorly acted orwritten, but usefully the "final" cuts of films can get past being poorlyshot and recorded), and I felt like losing my lunch everytime Hilary Duffsaid a line, or villains tried to be Jim Carrey, as if that's a good thing, and overall, I felt so, so BORED that finally, I stopped even turning it tothis waste of a film. Unfortunatly, the other one I watched was pretty bad, too, so I now realize that I should have just turned off the TV altogetherinstead of wasting it on things like this.
Some people might think I'm too old for this movie, but I don't care! I like it! It's really good and really funny! A dark warlock named Desmond wants to kill Wendy, because in the future, she will be the most powerful witch to ever exist. While she's in hiding with her three witch-aunts, she meets Casper, who's on vacation with his three uncles. Witches and ghosts usually hate each other, but Casper and Wendy become best friends. Wendy uses a little bit of her magic, and Desmond finds her. With the help of Casper, Casper's uncles, and Wendy's aunts, they try to help save her from Desmond. If you love family comedies, you'll love CASPER MEETS WENDY!!!!
Hilary Duff AAA+++ & George Hamilton AA++I must say that this is one of the sweetest, cutest films ever made.Hilary Duff is beautiful and her lead role as Wendy the Good LittleWitch is pulled up with the alluring spunk and childish impishness thatcarries this delightful tale of Good over Evil. And to be sure, George Hamilton as Desmond Spellman the evilWizard/Male Witch is a perfect choice for the role of theheavey...along with his trademark "Is my hair OK?" self-indulgence andhis magical way of being a really bad guy while still being fun.Hamilton is a real meanie, but in a light enough way that the wholefamily can watch without fear of foul words being uttered from hismouth, or some vulgar ethnic South Central L.A. ghetto gestures thatare too overused today in too many movies today. Hamilton brings aclassy elegance to the role of a villain we can hate, but like at thesame time.Wendy's aunts and the Casper's 'uncles' are played beyond perfection byeach gifted actor/actress in those roles. They are hilariously funny, outlandish and perfect imitations of what the comic books and priormovies have led us to know them to be, all these years. Not remarkablyit was like watching my favorite paperback episode come to life. Youloved them all, but you really enjoyed it most when Wendy and Casperwould achieve the upper hand.Wendy/Hilary was tremendously successful in her part and viewing theWendy Meets Casper was an experience akin to love at first sight. Lovefor the the prettiness of Hilary Duff, love for the sweetness we havelearned to expect in both Wendy the Good Little Witch and Casper theFriendly Ghost, and love of a good time where the whole family canlaugh at the magnificent special effects and the gaiety in the moviefrom beginning all the way to its happy conclusion. On a scale of 1 to 10, Wendy Meets Casper can only be given a full 10!10 points for Hilary Duff as the perfectly enchanting Wendy. 10 pointsfor all the fab actors and actresses playing the co-lead and supportroles 10 points for the storyline...a truly magical event 10 points forthe special effects 10 points for Wendy in her dancing dress...*blushesAll in all, a must see for every family.
This review is from: Casper Meets Wendy (DVD) Cute movie starring Hilary Duff as a little kid. My daughter LOVES it and has watched it several times already.
Okay now be fair, this is when alls said and done a kids film. I agreewith the previous comment and so long as the kids enjoyed it that'swhat matters.I found the film enjoyable and even if there are continuity errors sowhat? This isn't any huge film like transformers it was classic casperit's supposed to be enjoyable not brilliant and thats what makes a filmgood and I have no doubts that this film is enjoyable.I feel no need to say anymore, don't apply large standards to it, thisis one of the best casper films there is, it's fine for what it is, Isay 7 although I'm very tempted to give it a 10 to bring the score backup it does not deserve as low as it has.
Loved this film...The director gave this story so much color and excitiment....So many favorite performances....would love to see more of that hunk the social director..Larry Tallby.."Rodger Halston"...very funny movie and cast.....a must for the entire family.
This is an excellent family movie. Casper has been a childhood classic for many-a-year, and always seems to become updated with the times. He is one cartoon character you can't help but love, and could appreciate if he were really to exist. This is like a sequal to the Casper that featured Christina Ricci. Instead, this time around we have Hillary Duff. Ms. Duff plays Wendy, The Good Little Witch. She lives with her aunts, who are essentially more mis-behaved than she is. Due to some "trouble" Wendy doesn't start, the quartet is forced to take a vacation, and do so at the Sunny Brite Resort...the same place Casper and his uncles, The Ghostly Trio, are headed to as well. Eventually Casper and Wendy do meet up and become friends, despite what their guardians have said about the other parties. To try to make a change for the better, a plan is constructed to have the witches meet up with the ghosts. As a result, the friendship is tested, and in the end....well, not to spoil it, but you can probably guess what does happen, as this is a movie for young and old alike. For the most part, this movie is great. It's an amazing feel-good flick that anyone can enjoy. Hillary as Wendy puts the movie in an even better light. I suggest anyone who enjoys good family entertainment check out this movie. Casper movies are always a treat, and it's a wonder who he'll be meeting up with next??
I rented this for my four-year-old son from our local public library. As the third Casper film, and a direct-to-video release (the onlyadvertising I remember was on cereal boxes), I wasn't expecting muchfrom this little venture, but I was delightfully surprised. I actuallysat and watched the whole thing, and the climax is quite suspenseful. Agreat cast, some witty writing, and fine performances by GeorgeHamilton as the villainous arch-warlock Desmond Spellman (am I the onlyone who thinks this is a dig at Aaron Spelling?), Richard Moll, VincentSchiavelliÂand the three adult witches, Shelly Duval, Teri Garr andCathy Moriarty. The CGI ghosts are well done. But the biggest surprise of all is Hilary Duff's sparkling performanceas Wendy. Based on all the ditzy teen idol crap she did later-- rollingher eyes and huffing every thirty seconds as "Lizzy McGuire" andsinging those plastic pop tunes--I expected her to just float around onher broom and look cute. But this is the best acting I've ever seen herdo. I can hardly believe it's the same person. She's a delightfullittle bundle of energy, delivers her lines intelligently, and reallyworks her little duff off (sorry, couldn't resist that). It's a shameher career took such an airhead direction. This video shows she wascapable of better things, but she's already being forgotten. One caution: The ending, with the swirling "Mystic Abyss", when itseems like Wendy might actually be a gonner, as well as the"possession" scenes might be a little too much for some preschoolers.
I can rate this 10 stars right now because I liked this film so much the first time it was on video and those of you people who didn't rate it 4 or 5 stars will be missing out on a great film it's better than the other 2 casper movies and again you're missing out on great a family film of the 90's and 2001!!!!
I liked very much "Casper meets Wendy". A good and funny film for entire family. Excellent George Hamiilton playing the role of the evil warlock "Desmond Spellman".
I like this movie alot its funny and cute and all ages could enjoy it I think people should watch it
