Career Killing Unfunny 'Comedy': Just Stay Away

So, here are the facts. 'Boat Trip' was shot in 2001, but never released until 2003. It stars Oscar-winner Cuba Godding Jr. who was nominated for the worst actor category of the Razzie Award (but, hey, he lost!) in the same year, as well as the director Mort Nathan (and he lost too!). Now, is this that bad? I finally saw it, and now regret seeing this dreadful unfunny comedy. Think about this. Two straight guys (Cuba Gooding Jr. and Haratio Sanz), because of travel agent Will Farrell, end up on a 'gay only' crusie. There are many 'funny' gags related to the situation, which are not funny at all. One of the passanges happen to be a female Roselyn Sanchez, and Cuba Gooding Jr. fell for her. But of course! she thinks he is a gay -- he MUST be a gay, she thinks -- and she, dancing instructor by profession, quite seriously confesses to him that she like males only when he is a gay. Is this funny? Still reading? So, Cuba Gooding Jr. pretends he ia a gay, and she is tricked into this strategy which I don't buy. When Vivica A Fox as his ex-girl friend storms into the ship, things don't get better. And if you see ex-007 agent Roger Moore (74 years old) degrading himself with some of the corniest lines he ever uttered (including as Bond), I start to wish an iceberg hit the ship, and sink the whole crew with the film itself deep into the Atlantic Ocean. That's it. Who gave this potentially offensive project a green light? Gay people hate it, I know, but first of all, if you're not a gay, you would still hate it for being full of cliche, uninspired gags, and the final obligatory 'message' that tries to deny the suspected homophobia in the film. That I don't believe.

I'd rather have a root canal...

This could perhaps be the DUMBEST movie that I've ever seen. I didn't find one thing funng/entertaining/charming about the entire flick. The portrayal of both gay men and women was horribly stereotypical and pretty disgusting. In fact, I agree with the reviewer who wrote that it seems like the topless women were just thrown in to entice straight men to watch this horrible film. It's a shame that Cuba Gooding Jr. has his name on this one, because I think he (usually) has a tremendous amount of talent. Unless you like movies with no plots that make fun of gay men and show women as commodities, give this one a miss.

Very funny :)

Many people are rating this movie very low, and saying it is a crap;but I don't agree at all.It's a comedy, and it sounds perfect as a comedy! :) It's one of thefunniest comedies I already watched and made me laugh like a lunatic.:D Jerry(Cuba Gooding Jr) finally decides to marry with hisgirlfriend,Felicia. But she dumped him by another guy,making him feelbad for many months. Looking how sad Jerry is, his friend Nick decidesto do something to cheer him up, and they book a trip on a board in acruise-liner, to have a week for rest and meeting new women. What theydon't know, is that it is a gay cruise-liner! Now the real fun begins,specially when Jerry meets a beautiful girl called Gabriella, who is adance teacher of cruise and thinks Jerry is gay and Nick is his lover.I think this comedy deserves to be watched. :)PS: Gabriella with a banana, and the Swedish tanned team are one of themost memorable parts of this movie!

a good funny movie bought for my daughter she love it I've seen it I think its funny but not the best It give me an idea I have a few friends I would like to get even with if I had the money I would love to send them on the wrong cruise.

Watched for ONE reason only

I caught this movie one night while channel surfing, and unfortunatelywatched it until the end. The one reason? Not Cuba Gooding Jr, who hasdonegood work in the past. Not Roger Moore, who was a great James Bond. No itwas for the beautiful, absolutely stunning Roselyn Sanchez. I had neverheard of her before this god-awful movie, so if anything good came out ofthe experience, it was discovering the lovely Miss Sanchez. Terriblehomosexual stereotypes, all-around bad script, weak supporting cast,didn'teven laugh at Horatio Sanz at all. The Swedish Bikini Team were nice tolookat as well, but not enough to make anyone run out and rent this waste oftime. 1 star out of 5 for the eye-candy.

Quite good fun, I must say!

The movie is about two guys (Cuba Gooding Jr and Horatio Sanz) who goon a cruise hoping to have a lot of fun with girls. Unfortunately, itturns out to be a gay cruise. I watched the movie in spite of the poorratings awarded at this site and Rotten Tomatoes too. Both sites seemedto rate it quite poorly. However, I was surprised to find that themovie is not bad at all. Quite enjoyable really - and not evengay-bashing or anything like that. I guess that you can't rely too muchon opinions posted at sites like IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes or any otherlike that. You have to watch it for yourself and judge for yourself. Itdefinitely did not deserve the extremely poor rating that it receivedat Rotten Tomatoes. I rate it 7 or 8 out of 10. I think that is quitefair, in my opinion.

A Boatride Filled With Laughs!

After Being turned down by his girlfriend in a maraige proposalCuba Gooding Jr. leads the lonely life until one day his bestfriend convinces him to take a sigles cruise filled with beautiful women not knowing that the cruise is actually for gay men only. The laughs and sick gags keep on coming in this silly but still hillarious comedy giving Gooding a charming appeal,especally former 007 Himself Roger Moore In A supporting role asa gay old timer who tries to hit on Gooding's best friend The scene when Moore was licking a pickle was so funny i fell off my chair roaring with laughter. Granted this film is far from beingan Oscar contender and it won't be long remembered but it made me laugh and that's what a comedy is supposed to do.

a cheesy film with very sad acting

When i first saw this film, i thought it was a little funny and it hadsome hot chicks in it as well, but it just was not good at all, excepta little bit entertaining. Anyway, Cuba Gooding Jr. has put himself inan all-time low. The last 3 or 4 movies he's been in except forAmerican gangster, sucked. He needs to take a breather and stop makingdumb movies, like Daddy Day Camp and Boat Trip. Now to the plot. Theplot was actually pretty decent, two straight guys going on a cruisethat turns out to be a gay cruise, but they just didn't pull it offvery well. It would have been better if they had better acting and thescenes were more entertaining. 5/10

Silly and Predictable, But Also Very Funny – A Great Entertainment Not Recommended for Intellectuals

Jerry Robinson (Cuba Gooding Jr.) is a man in love, who intends to getmarried with Felicia (Vivica A. Fox). However, she says no to his proposal,and has an affair with the guy who cleans her BMW. With a broken heart, heaccepts the invitation of his best friend Nick Ragoni (Horatio Sanz) tospend his vacation on board of a vessel in a cruise, where many women wouldbe available for them along the trip. After a discussion in the travelagency, the agent send them to a cruise for gays only. In the beginning ofthe voyage, the passenger ship rescues a group of Swedish women in the sea.They are going to a dispute of tanned skin. Nick pretends he is gay, getsclose to Inga (Victoria Silvstedt), a gorgeous and tall Swedish woman, andfalls in love with her. Meanwhile, Jerry also pretends being a gay, to getcloser to Gabriella (Roselyn Sanchez), the beautiful and sexy dance teacheron board, and also falls in love with her. Along the voyage, the twostraight friends have unforgettable adventures and funny situations. Well,forgive me the purists, but this movie is very funny. It is verypredictable, but it is impossible not to laugh of the situation where thecharacters of Cuba Gooding Jr. and Horatio Sanz gets involved with. RoselynSanchez is very sexy and beautiful, being an attraction for the viewers'eyes. Roger Moore is also great in a role of a gay, which does not fit withhis profile. Very funny film,

you`ve got to be on the ball listening to the punchlines... theres lotsof`em, not expecting it to be good after looking at the 4.4/10 voting,buthow wrong they got it! funniest film we`ve seen this year by far! CubaGooding Jnr & Horatio Sanz, Excellant casting!!! what a partnership thiswas, Made a rainy day GREAT!

Guilty Fun & Victoria Silvstedt!

Speaking stricly as a heterosexual male, Boat Trip has shameless, "been there, done that" homosexual jokes, and crude humor that you may laugh at out of shear embarassment.There are also some crude scenes involving a "straight" man, with a "long fellow" when he discovers a group of Scandanavian Goddesses on board...lead by the drop-dead gorgeous Victoria Silvstedt...who could make many "alternative men" straight (in more ways than one)!Take the movie for what it is - shameless, crude laughs...and enjoy it.

I've watched Boat Trip over and over and over again! It's the most hilarious movie I've ever seen. Cuba Gooding Jr is GREAT in this movie. So funny. I love it and I never get tired of watching it.

Don't waste your money!

This review is from: Boat Trip (Unrated Edition) (DVD) What a bomb! I can laugh at the silliest comedies but this one makes Gigli look like a cinematic masterpiece. From the predictable punch-lines, to the corny cinematography and flat-comedic writing, I sincerely recommend that you don't waste your money.

You can see the microphone!

I absolutely agree with everything in the previous review. This is one ofthe worst movies I have ever seen.However, I would like to point out one egregious fact - the boommicrophoneis visible throughout about a third of the movie. You think I'm kidding.It seems impossible in this day and age, when people spend millions ofdollars on a movie (good or bad), that they would allow production anddistribution of a 'film' in which there is a microphone hanging down intothe shot in many scenes throughout. It should be illegal.However, it made the movie far more watchable. Rather than pay attentiontothe cheesy dialogue, offensive characters, and lack of plot, my friendsandI watched the top of the screen and cracked up every time we saw themicrophone come into view. You Like Disaster At Sea Films? Watch Titanic Instead

What can I say about 'Boat Trip'? Nothing good that's for sure. The one thing that came to mind watching this was, "I can't believe Cuba Gooding Jr. agreed to star in this." 'Boat Trip' released in '06 is a highly offensive film masquerading as a comedy/romance about two straight men who mistakingly find themselves on a gay cruise. It's crude, obscene and in some instances downright pornographic. Shame on you Cuba, Roselyn, Roger and Vivica. You're all well off enough to be able to pass on this kind of trash.

No Stars - Dreadful!

I like Cuba Gooding Jr. and was surprised he chose to do such an awful movie. I'll agree with reviewer "Marty from SF" that it is 'offensive to any living human being' - however, there was plenty of nudity in the edition I saw...he said there was none. This movie seems like the type of movie teenage boys would love (topless girls, completely lame sex jokes) and that ordinarily you'd find unknown teenage actors starring in - not an Academy Award winner...oh yeah, and written by teenage boys too...in about an hour (my apologies to any teenage boys who are above this). Spend your twenty bucks on something else. This is really...really...bad.

Quite possibly the worst 93 minutes of my life...

The movie was stupid and predictable, I was hoping for some gratuitousbreast shots and hopefully some redeeming humor from Haratio, but gotneither. As an actor, I cannot imagine how any self respecting actorcouldget this script read it, and then sign a contract to be in it. Far andawaythe worst movie I've seen all year, and without a doubt in the top tenworstmovies I've ever seen. The one laugh I had in the entire movie was on adeleted scene where Haratio is complementing a cross dresser, I watchedittwice hoping to make up for the last hour and a half of misery onlyslightlyinteresting due to the beautiful women.

Roger Moore is great but the rest...

What shall one say? "Boat Trip" is both a disaster and comedy that works.The idea of Cuba Gooding and his friend getting aboard on a gay cruise isfun, it also works that Cuba falls in love with a women and so on, buttherest, except Roger Moore who really is great, is bad, really bad. Theworstpart is the Swedish sunbathing team.The movie is not good at all but could have been, worth seeing though forthe part with Roger.4/10 (close to 3/10)

Why you will not want to take this ...

"Boat Trip" is probably something you do NOT want to take.It is an inane comedy with a few laughs. You will seeWillFerrell wander into one scene, but he does stay fully clothed.The premise is two straight guys who are booked on a gaycruise with all the hilarity that would ensue...Strictly for those who want to see Roger Moore as anancient "queen" and/or see just about all of Cuba GoodingJr'sbody.GRADE = "C-"

Terrible, but okay at time

Boat Trip had its moments of humor, but besides that, it was a tastelessmovie that had no point and it should never have been made. I was verydisappointed with the movie as I had hoped Cuba would only pick goodscripts. This movie was one of the worst movies I have seen in a longtimeand I wish I could get my money back.
