This review is from: Arthur and the Invisibles 2 (GER) ( Arthur et les Minimoys ) ( Arthur and the Invisibles Two: The Return of the Evil M ) [ Blu-Ray, Reg.A/B/C Import - Germany ] (Blu-ray) I bought this sequel because I liked the first movie. This picture contained all the elements that I liked about the first except and ending. What I thought was another movie is only half a movie. You need to purchase Arthur 3 to get the end of this story. There is a set with both movies 2 and 3. I recommend that instead.
Loved the first one but I think this is somewhat weaker movie. GreatComputer graphics Image, very nice directing, loved the looks of themovie, very pleasant to the eyes but the story isn't as appealing asthe first one. Maybe that is a problem common to all trilogies, beingthe second one the least appealing of all. I have seen the first inFrench version, this one I watched in English, loved both versions butI think the English one is slightly better because as the actors arespeaking in their natural language things seem more natural when inreal life scenes It is a very nice movie to show to our kids and can beused as a nice entry level movie for European Cinema, for preteen kids.It keeps that good French tradition of great care with image anddetails. all looks so wonderful! Still it is good fun and in the end itseems to open the door for an absolutely fantastic 3rd one! Hope myexpectations come true.
Really enjoyed the first one(the french dubbed one, with all the scenesintact) and enjoyed the second one as well. Fun movie, funny humor(it'snot tenacious d funny, I mean come on It's a still a kids movie). Watchin french with English subbs, sounds better and makes a whole lot ofsense cause the animated segments are made by french people(Theyrecorded it in the suits, with all their gestures and stuff, and wereoriginally made in french, and you can notice this(in all of themovies) cause they speak really fast, and if you watched french moviesever in your life, you'd know they have a fast tempo. Fun, enjoyableand easy to watch movie, i recommend it to kids as well as older peopleEnjoy :)
This is a 2 part movie. The first part was released in Dec of 09 andthe second part was released in Feb 2010. If you don't like the endingwatch the second part which unlike Harry Potter took only 3 months tobe released. Also just so you know there are maybe 3 scenes uptightparents will not like. There are hundreds of scenes in Shrek I wouldnot let my child see. Movie was great and WOW entertaining if you watchboth parts of the movie as a whole. Cannot believe this movie was madein France did you see the A star list of cast in the Original. Madonna,Robert Dinero, Mia Farrow, Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon and FreddieHighmore is amazing. This film neither looks or feels the part of any Bmovie or any Indie Film. The effects for the budget were Awesome. Icannot believe it's getting such horrible reviews. Some of you need tore-watch the crap Disney and Pixar are putting out and the subliminalmessages they pursue. Anyways I hope this review at least makes youlook at it. Watch the first movie if you haven't seen it then watch thesecond and third sequentially or else you will be mad at the secondsending.
I took my daughters to the cinema and was very disappointed with thisdisgusting movie. I t was a waste of time and money. I don't adviseanyone to waste his time and money to go and watch such movie. There isno story for the movie the mix of the animation and real people was notgood. the characters they used in the animation are very ugly. Verycheap movie. All events are not connected, my kids fear the movie anddid not enjoy it. For future work please consider that who are watchingthe movie are humans, the production is very cheap I bit the cost ofproduction was too low. This movie is not suitable nor for kids neitherfor adults.
Didn't see the first movie, but I'm not very much inclined to go see itnow. My 11-year old was very disappointed with the way the storyabruptly ends with a 'to be continued' and I could only agree with her.Although all the elements for an exciting adventure are there, somehowit isn't put together very well. There are too many details that havenot been worked out well, specifically with a lot of the characters. The villain from the title doesn't appear until the last quarter of themovie, and just when you think the story is finally going to unravel,it's finished! Open endings can be interesting, but I wouldn't callthis an open ending. The boy is still not back, his (grand)parents arestill searching, the central matter that most of the movie evolvesaround has not been solved in any way and even in the end I had no clueto what the revenge of Malthazar was going to be. Being big and in thereal world couldn't be all of it, could it?To me it seemed like only half a movie, or the first part of aminiseries on TV. Outrageous that I was nowhere warned for this!
The bad omens start even before the beginning of the movie: theoriginal title Arthur et la Vengeance de Maltazard assumes that we knowor we are interested in who the mentioned Maltazard is. I guess that hewas the villain in the original Arthur et les Minimoys, a movie I didnot like and which I immediately erased from my memory. The only thingI remember about that film is my huge disappointment of thinking thatthat would be "director Luc Besson's last film", who obviously went outof retirement in order to keep torturing to those of us who onceenjoyed films like La Femme Nikita and The Professional, which (in myhumble opinion) changed the face and the popular perception of Frenchcinema.Arthur et la Vengeance de Maltazard is a genuinely atrocious andexecrable film. The animation is very badly done, and the design of thecharacters is disgusting and unoriginal. But the biggest problem fromthis film is the disastrous screenplay, full of dull dialogs, weakaction routines and antipathetic comedy. Worse yet, the abrupt endingis to be continued, in order to get solved in the third movie from thisfranchise. That feels like an authentic slap in the spectator's face, specially after the film makes us to loose a lot of the time withirrelevant scenes. What was the purpose of all that filler? Wouldn'thave it been better to cut it in order to tell all the story into onemovie? Well, I guess the answer to that questions is simply due tomarketing reasons. In summary, Arthur et la Vengeance de Maltazard is an incrediblyvomiting and pathetic movie, which belongs to the collection ofindulgent whims created to please the sons of famous directors. Or atleast, I think that is the explanation why pieces of crap like Hook(from Steven Spielberg), The Adventures of Sharkbboy and Lavagirl 3-D(from Robert Rodriguez), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (from RonHoward) and more recently Arthur et la Vengeance de Maltazard weremade. Messrs. directors: next time, it would be better if you bought abike, an iPad, or a private jet to your sons, and avoid us the tortureof watching your "family projects" if you do not know how to make them.
While the original film wasn't exactly a masterpiece either, this onedigs lower. And I can't say it's an improvement. The music is corny. The titular villain only appears pretty late in the film. Thecharacters are sideshows, most of them. I really can't say I liked verymuch about this film at all. Then again, perhaps it IS a plague whenconsidering they decided to make a book into a 90-minute film, but Idon't know. This whole film, to me, felt like an unnecessary sideshow, and the ending doesn't help it at all. Maybe a rental when it'savailable, but otherwise don't bother. This was a bigger disappointmentthan Terminator: Salvation even if watched with lower expectations.
