Pointless and awful. Guess that makes it awful pointless.

I feel sorry for Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Obviously a talented director with aneye for spectacle, he has been saddled with one of the most hackneyed anddownright groan-inducing scripts ever. Basically a haunted house movie setinside a spaceship (two, actually) full of the eponymous Aliens, writerJossWhedon scraped the bottom of the cliche-barrel, bringing usnot-at-all-lamescenes of people wandering down dark hallways and sticking their headsintoacid-burned holes for no particularly good reason (other than to be eaten,of course). The movie liberally steals ideas and scenes from Jim Cameron'sAliens, which is okay, I guess, in an incestuous and cannibalistic kind ofway. The sets, the characters and the banter are all pale, ineptimitationsof stuff we've already seen in the series. Too bad they couldn't havestolena speck of intelligence from the previous three Alien movies. This is a noisy, ugly and boring movie... but like a train wreck, it'sworthseeing, if only to awe in how someone could manage to louse up a movieaboutshooting aliens and wearing leather pants. But my hat's off to Whedon,Jeunet & co.; they loused it up royally.

Alien resurrection sucks overall

Jean Pierre Jeunet swans in here all French with a yellow and browncolour palette with a chance to make a great movie in a massivefranchise...and balls it all up! Why? The main star of the show wasignored (the aliens) and instead crappy humour and visuals destroyed agood storyline. Another thing this franchise does not require Ripley tosurvive! The newborn was a good idea but looked really stupid. The idea that itthought Ripley was its mum was good and that when she killed yougenerally felt for the beast, but it looked crap, it had a pot bellyfor Christ's sake!. There were some good character development, andsome characters to rival that of aliens, but other than that it wasn'tthat good. The story was the best thing. Another thing... Being amassive fan of the alien franchise mad me notice a few things about thecreatures: 1. I suppose I don't mind them being brown in colour becauseif they were genetically bred from the alien on fury 161 and that alienwas brown it figures really. 2. Why did the aliens roar? And why did itsound so lame? 3. Why did they spit acid? That was also very lame Nowthat I think about it this film isn't bad I suppose overall, 6 out of10

Total Crap

It just doesn't get much worse than this. When I saw the previews itactually looked good. It had some awesome visuals and cool lookingcharacters. It looked like even with the cheesy cloning Ripley storythat it might turn out OK. Well, from the opening credits I knew thewhole thing was going to be a giant turd and sure enough, it was.The only good things about the movie are some great visuals and someextremely well done action sequences. That's about it really. Theyhired Joss Whedon to write the thing and he complains that they choppedit up and it should have been better. I'd like to tell Joss that I'veread the original and it still sucks! You can't polish a turd buddy! They had around 5-6 different scripts for Alien 3, yet with this onethey just take the 1st piece of crap someone writes for them. This isthe guy who writes the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series! You've gotto be freaking' kidding me!So basically, they took what was a legendary series, even with theflaws of Alien 3, and turned it into a generic comic book storycomplete with a half alien Ripley and a retarded looking alien/humanhybrid birth scene. I guess since the movie doesn't take itselfseriously, neither should we. Either way, it still sucks! What made Alien so great was the realism in which it was portrayed. Youcould almost imagine a future like that and even the alien wasn'tbeyond reason. It was a parasite with a life cycle and(once Cameroncame along) operated like a ant colony. It was pure genius. Now it'sjust a cash cow for the douche bag producers who screwed it upbeginning with Alien 3.

Alien: Resurrection (1997)

Director: Jean-Pierre JeunetCast: Sigourney Weaver, Winona Ryder, Dominique Pinon, Ron Perlman, Gary Dourdan, Michael Wincott, Kim Flowers, Dan Hedaya, J.E. Freeman, Brad Dourif.Running Time: 109 minutesRated R for strong sci-fi violence and gore, some grotesque images, and for language."Alien: Resurrection" continues the story of Ellen Ripley after her sacrifice at the end of the third movie. While this fourth film functions in some respect as something of an addendum, it does do what the otherwise excellent third "Alien" flick did not: expands upon the aliens biology and psychology and gives us some interesting new insights into the creature. It has been nearly 200 years since Ripley (again played by Sigourney Weaver) sacrificed herself on the prison planet Fiorina 161. In this space-set adventure she's resurrected by a group of scientists (among them Brad Dourif) and the military, headed up by General Perez (Dan Hedaya). The idea behind her resurrection is to use alien D.N.A in her blood to create an Alien Queen and a new Army of alien soldiers. Naturally, this plan backfires and the aliens are loosed just as a team of pirates (among them Ron Perlman and Winona Ryder) attacks and boards the ship.On completion of this movie, director Jean-Pierre Jeunet rightly paid homage to "Alien" director Ridley Scott and the alien designer H.R Giger, saying that they were the original artists and those that follow are just artisans. That is a very true sentiment, as alot of the story and character elements in this one are borrowed or are least familiar from previous instalments. There the tough grunts (the pirates in this picture equivalent to the Marines from "Aliens"), ambiguous characters with hidden agendas or motives, and the onrunning theme of the humans out to exploit the deadly aliens for their own purposes. Unlike the previous three movies, this film is set near Earth, providing the basis for the film's finale. Performances are good enough for this kind of fare but Ripley, predictably, has the most interesting and best-developed role. The combination of both human and alien D.N.A in her blood has gifted her with some unusual abilities, bleeding acid blood and being able to scale walls with ease. This in turn renders makes Ripley's relationship to the aliens far more intimate than previously envisaged and comes up with a few unexpected surprises.Elsewhere, Brad Dourif makes a creepy impression as one of the scientists, communicating very well his characters obsessed fascination and awe of the aliens. However, Dan Hedaya should have perhaps been used more as General Perez, Perlman and Michael Wincott are unmemorable, and Winona Ryder fails to exploit fully the dramatic opportunities in her role. Visually, the film is impressive. Like David Fincher and Ridley Scott before him, Jeunet has an eye for the gloomy and portentous and it shows here. The set designs, with their colours of rust, red and brown are beautifully reminiscent of the prison from the third film whilst creating a feel unique to the picture. The special effects here are a welcome mix of traditional and CGi, although neither is overused to detrimental effect. There are some interesting and memorable moments to behold here. The first is the scene where a scientist eyes up an alien in the laboratory and the camera pans back to reveal the Alien Queen in all her glory. It is a frightening moment and suggestive of the horror of the experiments. There is also an inventive action scene where the aliens are fought underwater. The finale is strangely moving, as is the last scene (a slow-moving coda) on Earth. "Alien: Resurrection" is not too bad an effort and does expand on the themes of the first two films in ways that the third film did not.

Complete garbage--an insult to the previous films.

It's bad as a scifi film. It's bad as an action film. It's bad as horror film, too, and it hardly lives up to the previous films in the (now) series.Alien was a straight scifi/horror film. Few surprises. Aliens was an amazing flick that deserved the cliche "roller-coaster ride". Alien3 was weaker, but I didn't really mind it. I thought it was a good ending to the trilogy, though all the great supporting characters were gone. Then we have this god-awful, pathetic piece of cinema. I wish I could burn the negatives. As a scifi, I can't even begin to tell you what little impact it had. Scifi is about discovering more about humanity and society. When you hold Alien Resurrection up to 2001 or Planet of the Apes, it falls apart. It doesn't even compare to Battle for the Planet of the Apes.Action... Not much. Aliens did it better. Much better. Cameron is God; the director of this piece needs to be in film-making Hell. And the horror? If you like "boo" tactics, startling you for a moment, and simply disgusting visuals that make you gag rather than cry, go ahead. This movie is for you.Heed my warning, movie-lovers. If you even slightly like films, if you have the least of discriminating taste, avoid this movie. Skip the avoiding, even--mount your own active campaign to have Alien Resurrection sealed and shot into space, as all noxious alien material should be.Find the original boxed trilogy where you can find it. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Special Effects Extravaganza.

French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen (1991), The City ofLost Children (1995)) directs this pacy science fiction-action-horrorfilm set purely in space. The film has a solid cast of actors.Plot: Alien Resurrection takes place 200 years after Alien 3. EllenRipley (Sigourney Weaver) has been cloned on the outer space militaryscience vessel USM Auriga using "blood samples from Fury 16, on ice."The United Systems Military wants to extract the Alien queen embryothat was implanted in her before her death in Alien 3. After successfulextraction of the embryo, the scientists decide to keep the Ripleyclone alive for further study. They raise the Alien queen and collecther eggs for further use. As a result of the cloning process, duringwhich Ripley's DNA was mixed with the Alien's, she develops enhancedstrength and reflexes, acidic blood, and an empathic link with Aliens. The Betty, a ship full of mercenaries, arrives delivering severalkidnapped humans in hypersleep. The military scientists use them ashosts for the Alien facehuggers, raising several adult Aliens forstudy. The mercenaries encounter Ripley, and their youngest member Call(Winona Ryder) recognizes her name. She attempts to kill Ripley, believing she may be used to create more Aliens, but Call is too late;the Aliens have already matured and quickly escape their confinement, damaging the ship and killing most of its crew. Dr. Wren (J. E.Freeman), one of the ship's scientists, reveals that the Auriga'sdefault command in an emergency situation is to return to Earth.Realizing that this will unleash the Aliens on Earth, Ripley, themercenaries, Wren, a marine named DiStephano (Raymond Cruz), and asurviving Alien host, Purvis (Leland Orser), attempt to escape on theBetty and destroy the Auriga. As the group makes their way through the damaged ship, several of themare killed by the Aliens. Call is revealed to be an android after Wrenbetrays the group. Using her abilities to interface with the damagedship's systems, they set it on a collision course with Earth, hopingthat the Aliens will be destroyed in the crash. Ripley learns that theAlien queen has gained a human ability from her DNA as well: nowpossessing a womb, it can give birth to live offspring without the needfor eggs and human hosts. The resulting offspring, which bears amixture of human and Alien traits, recognizes Ripley as its mother andkills the Alien queen.Ripley and the surviving mercenaries arrive at the Betty. As theylaunch, the human/Alien hybrid attacks Call. Ripley kills it by usingher own acidic blood to burn a hole through a viewing pane, causing thecreature to be sucked violently through the small hole and into thevacuum of space. The survivors escape in the Betty as the Aurigacollides into Earth.10/10 points. A very good purchase for your movies collection and to beenjoyed on home theater.Visit me Vivekmaru45@yahoo.com for movie recommendations

Pointless.

In my opinion there was no need to make Alien Resurrection. It's justanother pointless sequel to add to the series. The directors and producersshould of stopped at Alien 3. Once again like the other 3 Alien movies. We see Ripley lead a team ofmarines around an Alien infested ship in space. But this time it's moreconfusing Ripley is not all human. Since Ripley died in Alien 3, she hasbeen resurrected and brought back as some kind of half Alien, half humanlife form. Plus the Aliens won't harm her, because they think she's one ofthem. There's the usual hard-core team of marines plus an android, but this timeit's not Bishop from Aliens and Aliens 3, it's a female android.Really, it's just the same old "destroy the Aliens then get off the ship andblow it up to kingdom come" story line. But Alien Resurrection isn't all that bad. Since it's the most newest sequelout of the 4 the special effects are slightly better and I think it's gotmore action in it than Alien 3.A sequel which wasn't worth making. It just makes the whole series moreconfusing.5/10.

A flawed, fascinating and distinctly Freudian monster movie.

I have to admit that this really is not the film that I had anticipatedforso many months leading up to the release. Viewing some snapshots on thewebpage, I could almost feel that Gallic style that had oozed out of Jeunet'sCity of the Lost Children in this, the fourth of the Alien franchise. Yet,Alien Resurrection manages to be the most unremarkable of a series offilmsthat has virtually defined the modern sci-fi action film. And while it maynot be as frustratingly hamstrung as Alien3 was (which I actually thoughtwas far better than people gave it credit for), Alien 4 has little of theaction, suspense, tragedy, plot and unique style that the three previousfilms gave us. Perhaps that's just a bit too harsh, but for a film withsuchhigh production values and from such a diverse series of films, I don'tthink it's fair for the audience to have to put up with such ananti-climax(although scribe Joss Whedon, has said that this film is merely a prologueto the planned fifth film, which he will now script). For those of you that opted not to see Alien3, at the end Ripley chose tosacrifice herself so that the alien inside her would never be born. 200years on, however, scientists on the USS Auriga have been attempting toclone Ripley so that they can get at the Alien Queen she was carrying whenshe died. Ripley's gene pool has been mixed with that of the Alien's,meaning that she is now a sadistic schizophrenic with superhuman strengthand acid for blood. However, the scientists keeping Ripley overestimatethepower of a glass box and (Surprise, Surprise) the aliens break out, causingthe inevitable mayhem and frantic running around corridors. The band oflikeable but morally cloudy alien fodder (re - the nostromo crew of Alien, the marines in Aliens, and the er... murderers and rapists of Alien3) arethis time provided by the crew of the Buffy, sorry I mean Betty, thepirateship which delivered the bodies needed to incubate the alien embryos.Jeunetregulars Perlman and Pinon make up part of the crew, while Winona Ryder iscall, the ships engineer. A slight problem occurs when the survivorsrealisethat the ship is heading straight for earth, finally allowing the Aliensthebuffet meal they surely deserve for turning up in space uninvited so manytimes. Along the way, the Betty crew must weed out the traitor in theirgroup and a confused Ripley must decide where her destinylies.Writer Joss Whedon really has tried to make as good an action movie as hepossibly can (and he can make good ones ... Speed). That's fine for a DieHard movie , but it sure as hell is not what is wanted in an alien movie.Jeunets freaky French style is similarly unsuitable, due to being overlystylistic (which, again can work well in the right movies as his previousfeatures have shown us) and never gels properly with Whedons script. However, the most excruciating aspect if the entire film has to be the waythat so many elements are interchangeable with previous Alien films, notablyAliens. For example, the crew of the Betty, with their sexism and gung-hoattitude are bad copies of the marines in Aliens, with Perlman's Johnerparticularly similar to Bill Paxton's Hudson. Also, Ryders sole purpose inthe movie seems to be to act as Weavers foil and someone who can outfoxthemales of the movie, in true newt style. But while Newt was endearing, touching and yet remarkably unnauseating, Ryder seems lost and dizzy fortheentire movie. But it's not all bad news. Weaver gives possibly her most varied anddifficult interpretation of Ripley yet, proving that she is one of theworlds most underrated actresses and making Ripley by far the most complexcharacter ever to have appeared in a series of sci-fi films. And if thisisthe prologue to a more eventful fifth film, this could work better incontext (a La Alien3). There are also some gruesome and highly inventivedeath scenes and the design and FX of the film are stunning . Thehighlightof the film has to be the truly suspenseful and original underwater chase, closely followed by a dark and tragic scene in which Ripley discovers thenot so successful Ripley clones, with one agonisingly alive. The sceneallows Weaver to shine fully and I was stunned after seeing that scene forthe first time. Overall, the film is a very mixed bag indeed, with somegoodideas, underutilised ideas, brilliant ideas and just plain stupidideas.

2012-05-04 20:42:34

the problem lies with Whedon

alright, here we go. Resurection would have received much more criticalaclaim had Joss Whedon not written it. This film pulled together some ofthe greatest living character actors, as well as Marc Caro's brilliantartistic design. The problem is that Whedon wrote this movie like anotherepisode of "Buffy." Yeah, for those of you who don't know, Joss Whedon isthe writer of TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer - which should be all theexplanation you need as to why this film did not succeed. My point is thatthe script functioned on the TV show principle, in which the audience needsto be constantly reminded that this is just fantasy, and therefore theyshould not take it too seriously. Held back by what can be mercifullyregarded as an awful script, Resurection is a blemish on Jeunet's career -through no fault of his own. To Whedon's credit, I did enjoy the scenewhere ***SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER, READ NO FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THEFILM*** the baby alien bites Brad Dourif's head off. for some reason, thatwas really satisfying....

2012-05-01 19:58:02

Not worth the effort

It isn't fair that after more than fifteen years of a kick-ass trilogy, the Alien series should culminate in this. On paper, it looks kinda cool, but... oh, just don't. Every time Alien Ressurection looks as though its gonna get seriously wicked, the story wusses out. The fuss over the Newborn? It looks terrible, like a cross between ET and the slug-thing in Hellraiser, and has far worse puppetry than either of them. The Aliens themselves are reduced to trained dogs - pushing buttons to kill guards and prancing around on ladders. ANYTHING that was remotely scary about HR Giger's (who doesn't get a credit) original designs is taken away. ON the plus side, however, Sigourney Weaver's new take on Ripley is very interesting, and the underwater sequences look too cool. But you've seen the best of these in the ads, and the new Ripley can come across as a tad unsympathetic. Winona Ryder's character is ridiculously under-used - she comes across as a whiny android who got kicked off the set of Blade Runner. Joss Whedon is a fine writer, as the wonderfully satiric Buffy the Vampire Slayer has proven, but here his jokey script goes WAY over the top. If there has to be another\Alien film, get someone like David (Unforgiven/Blade Runner) Peoples to do the re-write.And let us never see the travesty that was the Newborn again - believe me, it really is that bad.

Lucien Lessard 2012-05-01 13:48:08

This silly but interesting odd-ball sequel to the Alien Series is quite entertaining.

200 years later... Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) has been broughtback though the magic of DNA, because Ripley killed herself bydestroying the Alien Queen inside of her. The Military Scientists (J.E.Freeman and Brad Dourif) decides to keep her alive and wanting theAlien for their weapons/science division. When a team of space pirates(Winona Ryder, Ron Pearman, Dominique Pinon, Gary Dourdan, Kim Flowersand Michael Wincott) arrived in a military space station. Which thesespace pirates has kidnapped people in their hyper-sleep, which littledo they know, they are being killed for the Alien Species. When one ofthe group discover that Ripley is been brought back to life as a Clone. But this clone Ripley has an different side to her, which she's nowhalf human/half alien. Once again, Ripley has to deal with the Aliensagain but now she has to face also a complete different Alien iswaiting to be born.Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amélie, The City of the Lost Children,A Very Long Engagement) made a complete different sequel to the AlienSeries. Jeunet's strange visual style and his sometimes humorous blackcomedy, certainly makes this one, the oddest of the four films. Whichis somewhat uneven with the director's french sensibilities crossedwith American mainstream film-making cinema. Weaver gives an complete, different and interesting performance as the clone Ripley. Which asUsual, she's very good in the film. One of the serious flaws in thissequel is the third act, especially the newborn Alien is a bit of aletdown. Although the newborn Alien does have some odd human facials.Which does look like the lead actress in several brief moments. The original DVD has an strong anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) transferand an excellent Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. DVD's only extra isthe three minute featurette, trailers and a collector's booklet. The latest Two Disc Set is a Collector's Edition. Which this newedition, includes the original theatrical cut and a special alternatecut with the original opening sequence and a slightly differentconclusion than runs 8 minutes longer. The DVD has the same Widescreentransfer and Sound (Also included DTS 5.1 Surround Sound). DVD has anentertaining commentary track by the director, cast and crew members.Disc Two has over three hours of featurettes, which they areintriguing. Disc Two also has all the production photos and artwork ofthe movie.Filmmaker:Jeunet admits that, he's still very proud of the originaltheatrical cut but with this alternate cut, he got to finish hisoriginal opening sequence that sets up the blackish humour of thepicture. Some might enjoy this but the real die hard fans of the serieswill certainly enjoy it. Written by Joss Whedon (Who's best known forcreating T.V. Series like "Buffy:The Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly").Super 35. Both Versions (****/*****).

Complete Waste of Time and the millions it had cost

This movie generally sucks in very aspect except for the really nicephotography by Darius Khondji. The script is so unlogical. If you clone a pregnant woman, than her babywould definitely not be copied too. But the worst thing in the script arethe completely nauseating characters. Winona Ryder (a very good actressinother films) is completely miscast as an action-heroine.Ron Perlmans character is completely unbearable and destroys even thelastmoment of atmosphere. Also weak is John Frizzells score, which is the absolutely boringstandard-shocker music with high string tremolos and stompingpercussions, the other 3 movies had great scores. And the worst part of it all: this movie doesn't even scare you. Insteadofwell build tension you get gore, gore, gore- my fantasies are much morefrightening then liters of film blood.I give it a 1 out of 10, because Jeunet really failed in keeping up thehighquality of the series (yes, i also liked Fincher's take on the beast, although you can feel, that it was heavily cut by the studio.)And now, there are rumours about a fifth ALIEN-movie directed by RidleyScott. Chances are high, that this will get better than Jeunets"achievement." But then, it really has to end, the series had sequelsenough.

Fascinating, if slightly unmemorable, coda to the franchise (spoilers)

"Alien: Resurrection" continues the story of Ellen Ripley after hersacrifice at the end of the third movie. New type in Alien series

I am big fan of Alien series indeed. This movie is hard to explain. It is mostly very nice. But depends so much how you look and think about it. It is similar to last part, Alien 3 that way, that it is again much different to earlier alien series. Like taking more ways to go. In fact i feel it is shifted more separate movie to away of series. Hih. Maybe movie company wants more ways to earn money so it dont look so same in future in part 100, just kidding. I hope that there is going to be Alien 5. This movie series is very good example how retain enough good taste in long continued movie row. So many movies have ruined because making "money hunter" parts after one really good. This Alien Resurrection also have nice effects and environment. By actors, first i scared this movie that it is gone because there is Winona Ryder. I tought that she wouldnt never fit in this type of movie. But it was very big positive surprise after i looked this first time. Ryder is just fitting well to this movie. In last words, it is maybe also too much to expect from these after parts because original Alien was so spectacular and scary movie.

Excellent Film

A lot of people didn't like this film too much. I thought it was a great storyline and very intense. The film doesn't drag at all, and the cinematography is great. What's most interesting about this film is the storyline. The alien(s) are still hunting and making gruesome messes of humans, but they have added life to this somewhat same old storyline. The cloning of humans/aliens, Ripley's connection to the aliens, and the new breed of characters (almost action movie based) make this film a major breath of fresh air for the Alien series. Sigourney Weaver, as always, and Winona Ryder deliver top notch performances, and even the surviving crew members do pretty damned good too. Although a lot of people will probably disagree, I think this is one of the best in the Alien series. Alien Resurrection and Aliens are my two favorites, followed by Alien and the "pretty good" Alien 3. All in all, Alien: Resurrection is a totally new type of Alien movie, and it is EXCELLENT!!

2012-04-19 17:49:14

Hasty,silly and cardboard.

Sigourney Weaver returns in another terrifying and suspenseful tale of man versus the invincible beast. 200 years after Ripley falls to a climactic and fiery death in Alien 3, man has achieved the ability to clone a person from a simple drop of blood. Enter Lt. Ellen Ripley. The brave heroine we all admired for her unwillingness to conform to the evils of mainstream society and corporate cunning is stuck with a band of mercenaries on a military ship bound for earth. Because of the fact an alien was inside Ripley when she died, she has been brought back not entirely as a human, but rather a strange and unnerving new breed of human who's bloodlines have crisscrossed with that of the legendary, acid toting, super strength Grendel of a creature. The military team has secretly made a deal with the mercenaries to spawn these creatures on a mass level. The film begins to take on its familiar feel when the plan goes awry and the mercenaries are left with no choice but to fend off the creatures who are killing everyone on the ship one by one. This film is nothing more than a combination its first three predecessors. Every element of the past films are easily detected here and the only thing that is worse than seeing a repeat of a movie you've already viewed is seeing a bad movie in itself. For all the love I have for the previous three films in the series, I have to admit that I have rarely seen a movie that so lacks a plot and moves with such a blurr. I am especially surprised that this film is the work of French director Jean Pierre Jeunet, who otherwise has woven works of genius and stunning originality ( City Of Lost Children, Delicatessen). The only thing worth seeing in this film is the cast of veteran actors and its new and ever blood-curdling creatures.

A worthy sequel to the previous three Alien movies!

An exciting, fast-paced movie, with some surprising and frightening scenes. Sigourney Weaver did an excellent job with a difficult part. And, with her "ressurrection", left the door open for a "5th" alien movie.

Vastly underrated, stop bitching, will ya?!

OK. We've all been frightened to death in our youth with 'ALIEN'. A yearortwo later weshat our pants once more when Cameron delivered what is probably the best2nd partsequel ever ('ALIENS'). We then all got more slightly more mature overtheyears and haddifferent perceptions of Fincher's ALIEN3: some of us thought it toolittleof a splattermovie while others complained about it's still being a rip-off of theoriginal. Now then, there's no question about us people in the +30 age group, is there? Wesimply must seeALIEN RESURRECTION, don't we? The whole saga has become part of ourpersonalhistory and seeing Lt Ripley dealing with Giger's creation makes us feelyoung again. I'mever so glad Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a director who, just as the rest ofus, has grown fromteen to twen to adult with the ALIEN-trilogy's impact on his creativesoul. He doesn'tcopy, he doesn't steal, he doesn't try a rip-off of any kind. Instead, hecarries the storyfurther, he introduces tongue-in-cheek-moments while at the same timedelivering atrue, suspenseful actionmovie that is very well worth seeing. I don'tunderstand theranting going on on this page. ALIEN RESURRECTION fulfils all expections, bothstorywise and visually. For an action flick, the cast is beyondcriticism.ALIENRESURRECTION is to be judged for what it wants to be - an entertainingmodern fairytale, a horror action movie, a splatter for the masses. In thesecategories,it delivers 9out of 10.

Greatest Ever?

Well, I certainly disagree with many people when I say that resurrection isthe best movie in the series. Jean Pierre Jeunet, with a record of someincreadible movies, brings his talent to Hollywood, to create what is (Inmy opinion) the best movies in the series and (Although too many disagree)the best movie I've seen in the past 10 years. What David Fincher failed todo in Alien^3, Jeunet succeeded in Resurrection, and bigtime. This isprobably the best ripley ever, and the cast is magnificent and haswonderful chemistry on the screen. This is one movie that makes you go "WOW" when it ends. I've heard more than enough bad reviews about it. Perhaps it's just a bunch of "Aliens" fans who can't accept that it's just a bettermovie, and perhaps it's right. But so far, the only thing I can say is:This is one record-breaking movie.
