Steve and Doug Butabi dream of opening their own club as cool as the Roxbury. The problem is, they are so uncool, theyve never even been inside the Roxbury. They still live at home and work at a plant store owned by their dad who is pressuring Steve to marry Emily, the daughter of the owner of the neighboring lamp store.

estaba been ech
after what I said - there is not much more. it is not funny, it is notentertaining, it is.. NOTHING!!!! unfortunately, there are no 0 or negativenumbers here on IMDB. maybe, dumb, dumber - DUMBEST is the best title forthis one...
Hold onto your seats! Ya gotta check this out! Outrageously funny and takes you away for two hours of some major ha haing...you'll be cheezin' hard the entire time! The cast members from Sat night live outdid themselves...hehe...what else can I say? Roxbury Rocks!!!
Twenty minutes into this movie, I asked myself what the point of makingthiswas. There was no plot or storyline I enjoyed. The Butabi brothers goingclub hopping. Chris Kattan and Will Ferrel star in a movie that its plotmakes no sense. I can't believe actors such as Loni Anderson, and RichardGrieco added their names to such an awful film. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ORMONEY on this film.
Yet another Saturday Night Live skit has inspired a full-length movie. TheButabi Brothers' head-bobbing antics have made it to the big screen. Thisultra-clueless, night-clubbing duo have only one goal in life: get intoL.A.'s #1 night spot -- the too-cool Roxbury Club -- and become the moversand shakers of the club scene. I give "A Night At The Roxbury" an 8 out of10 stars, a must-see for fans of the skit.
I haven't laughed this much since "Something About Mary".Funny how the critics raved about that one , and gave this this theflick. Also, much better than the similar "Dumb and Dumber"...and not a fart gagin sightIn it's naive, good-natured way , it was more like "Bill and Ted's ExcellentAdventure" or "Wayne's World" but out of all these films , "Roxbury" is mynew favourite.
This is a film that is better than you expect it to be. It's sort of LastDays of Disco meets Wayne's World. It is based on an idea that came from Saturday Night Live about three guyswho are trying to get into discos/parties and are so uncool. They all bobtheir heads to the music in a funny fashion and try to pick up women, whichof course they are useless at but think they are excellent at. The thirdperson from this original skit was Jim Carrey. For whatever reason JimCarrey was not in this movie but the other two are and despite Carrey'sabsence the comedy has his distinct style in many ways, particularly withvisual comedy. The music, if you like European 90s disco/house is very good and the supportactors are excellent. There are more than a couple of people from theoriginal Clueless film if you can spot them all.To give you a basic plot, which in this type of movie isn't really importantanyway, you have two sons of a rich LA shop owner. They live for partiesand think they are well into the scene but their dad thinks they are a wasteof space. They try to get into a club called the Roxbury which is moreexclusive and through a series of events, mistaken identities and so on moveinto the partying fast-lane. There are some ups and downs for our two guysthough but in true tradition there is a happy ending. If you liked Wayne's World and Dumb and Dumber there is enough similarhumour for you. It's worth seeing in my opinion, I gave it 7 out of 10 andI'm normally quite tight.
I might be a bit biased because I'm totally in love with Chris Kattan but I can't imagine who on Earth wouldn't find this movie funny, even if they're not SNL fans.I didn't think it was going to have much of a plot but actually it did,odd as it was.I loved the part when Steve and Doug were running around in thongs. It was sooo funny!Chris Kattan is a surprisingly good actor. He was very convincing, and I'm not just saying that because I plan on marring him someday!!!I reccomend this movie to anyone who likes to laugh. It was one of the funniest movies ever!
This movie is very funny and John and Peter put the cherry on the iceing. I suggest it to all SNL fans.
It's a bad film altogether, but I was filled with a morbid curiosity aboutthe main characters; wondering what was going on in their world...and intheir vacant heads. It's interesting to see but only for Chris Kattan. Utterly forgettableotherwise...and the dance music is just plain annoying.
Following such spin-offs such as Stuart Saves His Family and It's Pat,it would be understandable enough if the next Saturday Night Livefeature would have been responsible for the largest mass suicide inmodern history. Thankfully, Roxbury is a feature that comes off at onlybelow-standard. Which is a good thing, really. Will Ferrell would moveon to better things, and the soundtrack is impressive enough for a good90s flashback.Brothers Steve and Doug contend with family and their own problemswhile trying to get into the Roxbury, all the while dreaming ofstarting their own outdoor nightclub. There's one thing you can do, really, to say you've enjoyed the movie.Fast forward to the club dance scene where they all start dancing. It'sthe best part in Roxbury, with the choreography and the club beat.Otherwise, the rest of the film is pure torture as the brothers fightwith their father, and themselves, to realize something that wouldn'teven happen in the movies if it wasn't a Saturday Night Live skit. Isuggest the soundtrack, and only that to save you your time.
Comedy isn't the "artistic cinema" Dalva76 craves (earlier post), but, getting past my hilarity over that, I can appreciate the "artistic cinema" in great comedy and say flat out that this ain't it. Now, before you think I'm a snob, I laughed myself silly over "Dude, Where's My Car?" And I was prepared to hate it. I liked "Dumb and Dumber." I LIKE stupid humor when it's really smart humor disguised as stupid. But after 15 minutes of "Roxbury," all I sensed was stupid -- and I sure wasn't going to sit around for 80 more minutes of it.
I enjoy these guys on SNL and enjoyed this as well. It was slow in somespots, but the comedy was sooooo funny, we laughed out loud in severalspots!
I thought this movie was absolutely the best! The plot was thin and hard to get into at first but onve it gets farther into it the laughs deliver nonstop! See this movie. If you haven't that's just a crime against humanity.
I thought that this video was wonderful. I watched it on a trip to New York. It was extremely entertaining and hilarious. It had my friends and I laughing constantly. This movie is the best.
This movie was funnier than I thought it would be. I was unsure how theywould expand the SNL skit, but they did it and did it well. However, perhapsthe funniest one liner came from Chazz Palminteri. And Richard Grieco as atherapist was great. Love the music.
**Minor Spoilers**The movie can be summed up in 3 parts. The Beginning: From the theme song to when Doug and Steve fight in the vanis great. The music is still fresh, almost all the gags are funny. I hadabout 5 or 6 laugh out loud moments. Most of which happened during thehilarious opening segment. The Middle: This is when it starts to get a little ugly. Doug and Stevejust aren't funny unless they are together. Steve's interaction withEmilyis worth a few chuckles, but nothing more than that. Doug just dragsalongwhen he is alone. The End: This is when Doug comes out with the boom box to interrupt thewedding. Everything from here to the end is great again. Doug and Stevehave a sappy, yet funny conversation and the final club scene is also funtowatch.Overall: 5/10
Wow. I never knew this film could cause so much controversy. Opinions seemto be split around fifty-fifty as to whether it's a wonderfully funnypieceof comedy, or a ridiculous pile of garbage. Personally, I love it, but Icansee why people might hate it. If you try to take a film aboutwomen-starvedidiots too seriously, you're bound to hate it. However, if you accept thatthe film is inherently stupid, and you're just meant to laugh at thecharacters, maybe you could enjoy it just a little. Maybe not, but I did.Obviously this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's worth a laugh. If youwant a film that will have you giggling hysterically (if your sense ofhumour's as weird as mine) then see it. If not, and you're looking for anintelligent commentary on American nightlife in the nineties, forget it.Anyway, I like it.
I'm a major fan of Saturday Night Live. And I love the Roxbury skit, if you're a fan of Saturday Night Live... Youwill like this movie too!!!Chris Kattan, Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon are so hilarious!!!!Anyone with a good sense of humor, go see the Roxbury guys!!!!!
Roxbury is about the duo who has been seen on Saturday night live, bobbing their heads to "What is Love" and trying to get a dance/date at nightclubs. In the movie, they get their chance to attend the "Roxbury", however it nearly tears them apart. Although sometimes annoying, Ferrell & Kattan stay likeable, making this a funny movie to check out, escpecially for fans of the SNL skit.
