Not very good

I was extremely disappointed in this movie. You would think they could have found something funnier to do with 8 decapitated heads. The only thing original might have been the dream sequence where they sang Mr. Sandman. Kristy Swanson was gorgeous as always, but not a very good actress.

Not good, not horrible, but close.

Well, what can I say, it is the first movie in the comedy Isle of my localvideo store. I have made it a goal to watch every movie in that section,and unfortunately this movie has to be the first one. Actually 6th sensewasthe first one, but I have seen that one not to long ago so I didn't botherto get that one. Anyways, it was predictable and lame, and if it weren'tfor David Spade's trademark sarcasm, I would have given it a zero. It hadit's moments however, but a few clever lines does not make up for othershort comings. Anyways, that how I feel.

How can you not laugh at that........

If you're a fan of movies like Very Bad Things, Clay Pigeons, and Grosse Point Blank or atleast have a decent sense of humor and can handle a bit of bad taste in the name of good humor, then here's one more winner for you. Admittedly, this is not the best work of any of the "known" actors involved, but is a comedy ever where you expect the academy award for best actor to shine. Watch the movie because you're looking to laugh and just let it out as the heads roll. I'm still waiting for a release on DVD....

Good movies

This is a funny movie. Specially when they are looking for a new head at the collage. My fav is when the father try's to get on a plane and they find heads in his bag. The police don't notice it right away. They are to busy looking at the gun next to it. FUN FUN FUN!!!!

Fitfully funny

Although the film begins strongly, the yuks come less often as this movie drags on. The performances are also a bit off-key: Dyan Canon's screechy and hysterical role is wearisome, Kristy Swanson is little more than eye candy, George Hamilton is stiff and unconvincing, David Spade isn't animated enough, and so on. The movie requires an unusually large suspension of disbelief: For instance, these may be the only corpses that don't stink or attract insects. There are enough funny moments to prevent viewing the movie from being a total waste of time but not enough of those moments to make a viewing worthwhile.

Pessi is Marvelous

This light hearted look at the world of a hit man is hilarious. Of course it helps if you have an east coast backround; the language and mannerisms are right on. If you want a smile and like Joe Pessi, you'll love this movie.

Good light comedy without excessive silliness

This was a nice light comedy with some really interesting sight gags, but without being overly silly. Joe Pesci was his usual tough-as-nails gangster type and Spade provided his customary sarcasm. The film had some wonderfully funny moments, the best of which was the final airport scene.

a bunch of silly actors

I don't know, maybe I just wasn't in the "right mood" for this movie But the biggest problem with this comedy was actually quite simple: it just wasn't funny. I remember watching the first 30 minutes or so and suddenly realizing that nobody in the theatre was laughing at anything...including me! Sure, a couple of small things were humorous, but for the most part, the jokes just sat there, waiting for a response.

Not so Dark

Joe Pesci is a bag man for a mob family. His current contract is to deliver a bag containing the heads of eight rivals. This should be a simple delivery but circumstances force a bag switch. Now Pesci has a bag of clothes while a pre-med student has the heads. To make matters worse, the student has just driven into Mexico with his girlfriend's family. Only one small clue can help Pesci track down his cargo before a contract is taken out on himself.What follows are typically improbable comedy situations that have the heads moving around and being seen by unreliable witnesses while more and more people get involved in trying to straighten out the mess. This gives various characters a chance to develop and show their true mettle. Things begin to get really out of hand but it is successfully tied up at the end with the viewer feeling pretty good about how it all worked out.I expected this to be a darker comedy with plenty of black humor but it really wasn't. Considering the plot device this was a surprisingly happy and upbeat film. Pesci is very good as the bag man but his role is a support role as best (I guess I had also been expecting to see more of him). But although things were not quite as I had thought they would be it was still a very good movie experience. Check it out.

So Ridiculous It's Hilarious! lololol

There are two main kinds of ridiculous movies, in my opinion:(1) movies that are ridiculous because they have toomanyflaws in one or more of the following areas:(a) overly hyperkinetic(b) overly draggy(c) merely vehicles for displaying shock (e.g. violence,gore,profanity, nudity)(d) movies with such an obvious lack of focus and directionas if they're trying to be all things to all people and pleasing nobody(e) Movies that try to appear to be deep and intellectual bypresenting a bunch of meaningless mishmash(2) Movies that are ridiculous, because that's what they'reintended to be (Think: THREE STOOGES)In my opinion, 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag, falls into this last categoryofridiculous movies! It's a scream! Such an interesting and original plot!It's not a message movie (unless it's to tell people to check theirluggagemore carefully before getting too far from the airport). It's just forlaughs--and it certainly made ME laugh!If you just want to have a good laugh, check THIS oneout!

What a WASTE!

When a friend of mine called me with this movie in his hands, at thelocal Blockbuster, I went crazy because that was a Joe Pesci movie I'venever seen before! I actually bought it. I was sure to have great time.I had not!!!The basic idea is gold, I expected some kind of Weekend at Bernie'skind-of movie. It was an exciting premise. First Joe Pesci is more aguest-star than anything, that's too bad. The guy who plays thewanna-be doctor is really bad, just like the other mostly-unknownactors, at least watching the movie Italian-dubbed.It's like a full-lengh sit-com turned crap, with some nice momentthanks to Pesci and Spades, and the granny at the end! That was cool!What I say is: brilliant idea, horrible execution! Joe Pesci plays moreof a though guy than I expected, that's wrong. He should have been anidiot-bad-guy like Home Alone's Harry! Not that!I hate this movie, so many thing went wrong. I can't even remembercause I just watched it twice. It was enough. I wasted 5 bucks!

good movie for people with good senses of humor

I saw this wonderful movie during its theatrical release, and everyone inthe small theatre, including myself and my mother, loved just about everyscene. Watch it with an open mind and you'll be very pleased. Joe Pesci,Kristy Swanson, and especially Ernestine Mercer, are absolutely hilarious.Even David Spade doesn't completely suck! Nice surreal touches aswell.

Funny, but that's all.

Why wasn't this film given a cinematic release here in Australia? "8 Headsin a Duffel Bag" is a hilarious goofball comedy in the tradition of Weekendat Bernies, Billy Madison, There's Something about Mary, Dumb & Dumber, TheStupids, etc..Who really cares about plot - look at the title?? Were you expectingSchindler's List? I was roaring with laughter from start to finish. JoePesci was fantastic as the hitman. I loved the airplane scene hehe ("Suremake conversation, just do it in sign language"). The rest of the castperformed nicely as well. I particularly liked Dyan Cannon as the recoveringalco. I laughed my head off when she found the head, same for when KristySwanson found them ("You got me a present!"). When the heads broke out intosong ("Mr Sandman") I was laughing tears.David Spade annoyed me but this minor flaw can be discarded by screaming "UpYour Ziggy with a WahWah brush" everytime he comes on screen - helped merelax!Entertainment Scale: 8/ 10Overall: 7/10

Good Joe Pesci movie

This review is from: 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag (DVD) Someone wanted more than just "one" to get a head. So the big boss sent Joe pesci to transport 8 of them. Cool raunchy humor here. you wont be dissapointed.

Good to rent, but I wouldn't buy it [spoilers]

8 HEADS IN A DUFFEL BAG is good to rent, but I wouldn't buy it. It's onlyoccasionally funny and the best scenes are the ones with David Spade. Theplot is a little too hard to understand considering it is a comedy [a darkcomedy] and I was kind of disapppointed that Kristy Swanson was a co-starand not one of the main characters. She is a wonderful actress and deserveda bigger role in this movie. If she was in it more, it might have made themovie a bit more entertaining then it was. I would only give it two stars.

A MOB HITMAN [JOE PESCI] LOSES A DUFFEL BAG THAT CONTAINS THE HEADS OF 8 DEAD PEOPLE AND HE GOES ON A QUEST TO GET IT BACK. GOOD IDEA AND IT WORKS OUT PRETTY WELL. OTHER THAN JOE PESCI, WHO'S FUNNY AS ALWAYS, DAVID SPADE HAD SOME FUNNY MOMENTS AS WELL. IF YOU NEED SOME GOOD LAUGHS, GET THIS MOVIE NOW.

Second best "head in a bag" movie ever .........

Perhaps inspired by the Warren Oates classic "Bring Me the Head ofAlffredo Garcia", this heads in a bag comedy has a strong opening, anda somewhat ridiculous finish. The actor's do quite well with what isessentially a one joke movie. "8 Heads in a Duffel Bag" starts as blackcomedy, but eventually morphs into nothing more than slapstick. Theending at the airport is especially weak, as any idea of how toconclude the film seems to have been lost. Nevertheless, the strong,"dark" first half, along with above average comedy material saves themovie, and compared to some of today's lame comedies, I can recommendseeing "8 Heads in a Duffel Bag." - MERK

Joe Pesci Is The Man

This movie is funny as hell. I love when Pesci tosses the mother out of the moving van off the cliff. That is the best part in the movie.

Eight Heads out of 8...

I'm typically biased when reviewing products like this one. I always love movies from my childhood or from my highschool years no matter how cheesey or lame. This one however has some clever comedy, and alot of one-liners that are pretty hilarious. Joe Pesci takes a different role being a member of a crime organization, and delivering a duffel bag full of heads to a crime boss. Bags get mixed up on the flight to their destination, and all heck breaks loose as the original bag is tracked down by Joe Pesci's character. David Spade plays a very comical role in this film, as well as Kristy Swanson and a few less known actors. The movie keeps you in tune and always wondering if they'll get caught, or even live after crossing paths with this evil mob who own the heads. Alltogether, the movie is very funny, and sure to be a great add to your movie collection.I love this movie, if you're not sure about buying the movie, I would suggest renting it first or reading a few more reviews.

Very Funny Movie

This is a very funny movie and I seem to laugh every time I see it. It is not a family comedy or a movie for kids so be careful about that aspect. I am not a big Joe Pesci fan but he does bring some interest to the film while the remaining cast are the ones that really make it funny. For anyone who likes dirty comedy's then you should enjoy it since there is a lot of gross and profane humor. The writers of the movie must have been a little off there rocker when they wrote it because it is hard for me to compare it to any other comedy I have seen.Peter J.
